I keep hearing rumours but can't see anything set in stone. Does anyone know when the new series of PB starts?

I only found out this morning that the French Canadian fisherman who had the erm altercation with Tommy in the bar in ep 1 is Gregory Fitoussi (Mr Selfridge, Spiral, loads of things) He's gorgeous but somehow evaded my radar in that scene. He'll be back, though. Thanks IMDB Grin

@Thymeout Yes a very interesting family, but not very likeable. Was Jessica's husband Esmond Romilly not Churchill's nephew?

Of the sisters, Debrah was the one who made the smartest choice

MegCleary · 12/03/2022 13:05

Deborah did have it a bit tough married to an alcoholic

Thymeout · 12/03/2022 14:05

@XelaM
Yes. Esmond was Churchill's nephew-in-law. Esmond's mother, Nellie, was sister to his wife, Clemmie, and also to Jessica's father, Lord Redesdale. So Esmond and the Mitford dcs were cousins. Diana was also Churchill's niece. Wonder if that will come up.

CPL593H I didn’t realise it was him either, he’s a very attractive man. I’m currently binge watching my way through Spiral on iPlayer. My favourite though is Gilou, there’s just something so rough and ready, down and dirty about him. In other words, the sort of man I’d run a mile from irl 😁

God Pierre was gorgeous ❣

Spiral was great, hope you're enjoying it!

I love this thread! Fantastic information about the Mitfords and the interrelationships of 1930s aristocrats, also the chance to express admiration for certain French actors (based solely on their body of work, of course Grin )

On topic contribution; my Midlands grandfather (same sort of age as Tommy et al) used to call me his "little Peaky Blinder" when I was tiny. So proud now!

I think antisemitism was generally prevalent among the aristocracy of the early 20th century. Certainly the Russian Tsar and his wife Alex (Queen Victoria's granddaughter) were hugely antisemitic and the last book she read was written by a fascist

Amazing first episode.

The tribute to Polly / HM was just breathtaking - as it should be.

And I’m suddenly interested in the holiday possibilities of Miquelon …*

The bits in Miquelon were filmed in Portsoy in NE Scotland so you can easily visit Grin

grannyjacob · 13/03/2022 00:24

tellme it was my ex son-in-law who got me into Spiral when it was first shown in the UK. At some point and I don’t know why, I stopped watching it. So I recognise a lot of it and yes, I‘m really enjoying it. It makes so much of the British crime stuff look pathetic.

Binglebong · 13/03/2022 21:47

Does anyone know where the gypsy camp site was filmed?

Tillymintpolo · 13/03/2022 21:51

The quarry is near Bacup in Lancashire

SmellyOldOwls · 13/03/2022 21:59

I really prefer the earlier series of PB when there were at least a few jokes and smiles. These last few series have been unrelentingly grim.

30not13 · 13/03/2022 21:59

In trying really but this season is the worst so far :(

littlbrowndog · 13/03/2022 22:00

That was amazing. Also this thread for information 👏

Binglebong · 13/03/2022 22:00

Thank you Tilly

I feel I'm just watching people decline into madness. Where's the fun?

Haggisfish3 · 13/03/2022 22:01

I loved this episode.

XelaM · 13/03/2022 22:01

Omg they let Ruby die!!! I didn't think that would happen especially as he found Esme and the reason behind the curse

Haggisfish3 · 13/03/2022 22:03

I didn’t think it would happen this episode. The Shelby cracks are really showing now.

foxlover47 · 13/03/2022 22:15

I'm absolutely loving it

elephantmarchingin · 13/03/2022 22:19

I can't believe she's dead. Will this lead to a return to the gangster Tommy we all love!

SmellyOldOwls · 13/03/2022 22:32

I'm guessing he'll start back on the whiskey at least. I can't see how Tommy and Lizzies marriage will survive this. They were barely tolerating each other as it was.

foxlover47 · 13/03/2022 22:34

As soon as he chucked the cross I thought "oh no "🙈

LadyTwinkle · 13/03/2022 22:36

This series is very depressing. And I'm not enjoying it at all. It's uncomfortable to watch Tommy having a break down, and slowly declining. I wonder if he'll regret going on a wild goose chase after Esme. When he could have spent the time with his daughter instead. He's just the shell of a person now. Diana Mosley is completely insufferable I don't know why they thought she'd be a good character to introduce.
