Is anyone watching this series? Have only seen the first episode but just love the kids. They can't hide their emotions at all Grin liked Paul Hollywood as a stand in for Liam too, thought he was good with the kids.

I loved this from start to finish. All the kids 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

littlbrowndog · 28/01/2022 20:24

Interesting that next one is 9-12

Justkeeppedaling · 28/01/2022 21:40

Yes, Fraser peaked cockiness didn't he. Right at the point where he responded "no it doesn't." When Harry Hill told him to be careful as pride comes before a fall

Fraser is way to big for his boots, and pride DID come before his fall in the end. He's a very talented baker but needs to learn a bit of humility.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 28/01/2022 22:00

Didn't Harry say to him at one point 'You're not all that, Fraser'? I thought there was some very pointed editing with the camera homing in on his face when Kezia was getting feedback (and vice versa).

jay55 · 28/01/2022 22:21

I was sad Quique went home when he did, would have loved two of the younger ones to have made the final.

Lola's final cake was brilliant. So colourful and fully embracing the theme. Incredible for her age.

Glad Kezia won as she's been consistently at the top especially in the technicals.

They could do with 2 divisions 8-10 and 11-13.

LavenderAskew · 29/01/2022 01:51

Anyone else spot the inconsistency where they were talking to Lola about the figures on her cake, and there were slices in front of the judges then the next scene we are shown the cake being cut to get the slices.

I think that pretty much means if the judges say something to one contestant and the camera cuts to a other contestant looking sad or smiling you really can't be too sure that's the reaction to what's just been said.

ChessieFL · 29/01/2022 05:30

I spotted that Lavender! Agree it’s all heavily edited. In the adult one each episode is filmed over 2 days and they have to wear the same clothes each day, so when editing they can just put reaction shots etc in wherever they want.

Just watched the final and felt quite emotional at the end, what a lovely bunch of kids. So pleased for Kezia that she pulled off her showstopper but would have been happy for any of them to win as they're all great. I actually really liked Fraser, he was confident but also had the skills to back it up (and they've all made mistakes over the course of the show).

@Blueberrycreampie I clearly wasn't trying to be offensive

mydogisthebest · 30/01/2022 16:10

It was obvious Kezia was going to win. Yes she was very good but totally unfair to have such a wide age range. Lola was brilliant but she didn't really stand much chance

TheMadGardener · 30/01/2022 16:29

I really enjoyed this. I actually liked Fraser, I can see him as an adult having the drive to run one of those "farm to fork" restaurants.
Kezia deserved to win on technical ability but I agree the age gap gave the older ones an advantage.
Lola was an absolute ray of sunshine.
Gabriel was quite annoying and reminded me of a child at school who also sounds precocious and just won't shut up.

I loved the bond between Quique, Lola and Macey with all the hugging. And Quique's magic tricks.

AmyandPhilipfan · 01/02/2022 20:18

To be honest I think if you did have a child who wanted to compete you might try to convince them to wait until they were 13-15 rather than going for it at 9, in order to gain some more expertise but also emotional resilience (though the little ones this year coped with disappointments really well) so I feel a bit sorry for anyone who was waiting to be older and now it’s 9-12 they’re too old to enter!

I think they all did really well. I loved Macey’s expressions when things went a bit wrong, and Lola was fantastic when all her biscuits slid off the tray and she grinned and said ‘one went down my apron!’ I think my kids would have cried!

I am pleased for Kezia. She might not be as entertaining on TV as some of the others but she still came across as polite and kind. And her and her family’s reactions to her winning had me in tears.

I love this show, so warm hearted especially this time of year.

I was at the Science museum today and got given a flyer that said applications are open for next series, anyone going to apply?

My youngest is keen to apply but shame he doesn't know how to clean up after making a mess in the kitchen Grin

Conor13 · 22/02/2023 16:04

Absolutely loved this series of JBO! The kids were great especially Immy and Harrison - what characters! Did anyone see that applications are open for series 9? It was posted on my local Facebook group. Will definitely have to get my little ones to apply, they love baking - not so much the clear up unfortunately 😅
