Is anyone watching this series? Have only seen the first episode but just love the kids. They can't hide their emotions at all Grin liked Paul Hollywood as a stand in for Liam too, thought he was good with the kids.

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 26/01/2022 21:53

I wish they would find something other than 'you've been so much fun' they say that to every baker. And Liam said it last series. Credit to Macy for rescuing her cake.

KillingMeDeftly · 26/01/2022 22:11

@fluffiphlox god no! But when he was talking about how he stood up in front of the whole school and sang the songs from Greatest Showman I thought he was going to end his story with "whether they liked it or not"!

BackInBlackAgain · 26/01/2022 22:41

I want Fraser to win, he is a brilliant baker and very calm. But I love Lola, such a little live wire

fluffiphlox · 26/01/2022 22:53

@KillingMeDeftly Grin

LavenderAskew · 26/01/2022 23:09

I think they need to end it now. Everyone wins, no one else leaves.

I might be getting into it a bit too much. Felt so sad Macy left. Also more than a bit annoyed Aisya didn't get Star Baker.

JollyHostess · 27/01/2022 01:21

@LavenderAskew

There's so many lovely kids.

I do wish Liam could cut off bits rather than take a bite out of things that aren't a slice or forkable (real word) like the chicken waffle and chocolate mint.

Oh I kept commenting on that! I hated seeing his mouth biting into the entire thing--cut a piece off for pity's sake 😂
Ellmau · 27/01/2022 07:55

Fraser's confidence doesn't annoy me, but his instructing of the other bakers does! It could be that as the oldest, he feels he should help them and of course it may be the edit.

He comes across as a know-all which is always annoying. I didn't notice it so much when Gabriel was still there, prob bc G was so chatty the camera focussed on him a lot :)

LavenderAskew · 27/01/2022 11:45

I think Fraiser would benefit from a touch of humility certainly. But he does have the ability.

I think Aisya is has it spot on. Able, confident in herself but has humility and generally lovely.

Mind you I think they're all a lovely and talented bunch.

KillingMeDeftly · 27/01/2022 12:55

I think Kezia might come away winner. She's much more low-key than the others but her bakes have been consistently good. Her Viennese whirl the other day looked like one you'd get in a bakery!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/01/2022 13:15

Semi-final tonight. There are five left. Don't they normally go down to three for the final?

KillingMeDeftly · 27/01/2022 13:25

That's right @Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g but maybe 2 kids will go home today? I think, barring a disaster from any of them, it'll be Fraser, Kezia and Aisya in the final.

But I don't want to think about Lola's and Quique's little faces if they don't make it!

RavenT · 27/01/2022 13:30

Did you see how Lola and Quique were hugging Macy when it was announced she was leaving? I thought it was lovely. Smile

I also noted the comment Gabriel made about singing songs from The Greatest Showman! Grin

LavenderAskew · 27/01/2022 15:23

Yes. I think you could be right. The Viennese whirl looked amazing. Had a hankering for one all evening yesterday!!

Blueberrycreampie · 27/01/2022 17:04

I actually preferred it when Paul Hollywood stepped in for Liam at the beginning of the series - even though he is definitely not my favourite person. I just thought he was good in this. I would also be happy not to see Harry Hill again!

Blueberrycreampie · 27/01/2022 17:05

Not sure a jelly has a place in a baking comp?

Bouledeneige · 27/01/2022 17:23

I loved the previous series of this show and I love this one too. The judges are so good (even Paul Hollywood turned into a human being). I think the kids are so lovely though I hate it when they get really upset. But it's great how much they comfort each other and they seem to bounce back very quickly.

I absolutely love Harry Hill in the show. He's very silly but gets it's finally completely right - the kids love to pretend he's annoying them and patronise him.

I am a huge Harry Hill fan though. His stand up is just brilliant. I once took my kids (they were 12 and 14) at the time and the only kids there. He was trying out new material at the time in a very small venue and he involved both my kids in a big way. My son was given a papier mache boulder to throw at him and my daughter he got in stage to be his clapometer. I loved him for it. He's playing a character and very clever.

RavenT · 27/01/2022 17:34

Hmm just started watched, Fraser is too cocky for my liking.

ParkheadParadise · 27/01/2022 17:38

Lola is my favourite

Toddlerteaplease · 27/01/2022 17:43

Quique to go home. Hopefully Kezia for star baker

Stellaris22 · 27/01/2022 17:47

"It's edible fruit day not edible flower day" 😂

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 27/01/2022 20:00

I was glad Fraser had a narrow shave on the Technical. He's said over and over again that he's doing something differently from the recipe to save time or do it better. Well, this time, laddie, that was your downfall. Confidence is fine, cockiness isn't!

Delighted Lola has made it to the final. Poor little Quique, though. No way back from forgetting to put sugar in your meringues, though.

If Kezia listens to them and doesn't try to do too much in the final, she should win. Her or Aisya, don't mind. I can't see Lola winning, tbh.

Looking forward to the final now!

angelopal · 27/01/2022 20:10

Think Kezia has a good chance of winning. Though would love Lola to win.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 27/01/2022 20:15

Interesting that they’ve narrowed the age range for next year to 9-12. I think the older ones have such an advantage with their more developed motor skills that it’s not a level playing field at the moment.

angelopal · 27/01/2022 20:30

Did notice that tonight. Glad they are doing that as the age gap is to big. Older ones have to much of an advantage. Younger ones are so much more fun to watch.

KillingMeDeftly · 27/01/2022 20:35

Brave of Lola to wear a white blouse tonight considering the ingredients usually end up all over her! Poor little Quique but let's hope he gets to come back in 10 years time as a contestant on GBBO.
