Is anyone watching this series? Have only seen the first episode but just love the kids. They can't hide their emotions at all Grin liked Paul Hollywood as a stand in for Liam too, thought he was good with the kids.
Lola reminds me of my friends daughter. Very similar manner and open smiley face.
This is the next lot of contestants. Mia looks older than 15 imo and reminds me a bit of Saoirse Ronan.

Mia looks older than Freya from last year's GBBO!

I love the way they all help each other.
And HH was just right for this programme.

Ellmau · 16/01/2022 00:17

HH is very silly on this, but I think it works.

Rummikub · 16/01/2022 00:33

It makes me laugh how some of the kids look at Harry hill as an annoyance Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 16/01/2022 12:31

I actually liked PH this time. The kids are lovely. Nice to see more younger ones, this series.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/01/2022 12:36

I really liked Mia and am sad she's gone.

KatieKat88 · 18/01/2022 14:07

I think Harry's perfect for this, better than the Noel and Matt combo on normal Bake Off (but don't think I want Harry on that either, he just works well with the kids).

I've finally caught up on last week and didnt dare read comments until I had! Felt so bad for Eliza, just bad timing with that pastry. Lola and Quique are adorable. Kezia very good. Will be interesting to see how this week's batch stack up!
Eliza is the daughter of Eastenders' star Natalie Cassidy: www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-10404717/Natalie-Cassidy-proudly-reveals-Junior-Bake-Offs-Eliza-daughter.html
Never would have realised but I can see it now! Thanks for this!

@KillingMeDeftly

I think my favourite is Lola - she's so excitable and it's hilarious how she manages to get covered in the ingredients! But it's so sad when one of them has to go and bursts into tears.

I wasn't paying attention at the end of today's episode but why is there a whole tranche of new kids starting next week? What happens to the four left from this week?

She goes to my son’s school!

OH and I watch it every year and absolutely love it.

The combination of Liam, Rav and Harry Hill is perfect, although I have to admit Paul Hollywood was pretty good as a stand-in judge. We prefer it to the adult GBBO these days.

It's the best thing on tv at the moment and brilliant for brightening a dull January day.

Completely agree, could have written this word for word (apart from my DH clearly has less good taste and isn't interested in any form of Bake Off Angry)

I also have fond memories of first watching it two years ago when DD was a couple of months old through ridiculously long feeds so it has nice memories for me Smile

Hogweed. - thats a first! They are all so lovely 💕.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 18/01/2022 20:50

Why did Olivia go today? I was sure it would be D'Vonte or Gabriel, but I missed part of the technical. Was her's dreadful?

LavenderAskew · 18/01/2022 21:06

Yes, I wasn't sure either. She wasn't the worst in the technical.

Halsall · 18/01/2022 21:28

DH and I are watching this every day, and we loved it when it was last on too. Mia was just great in the first week, so funny - a pity she had to go. Lola cracks us up too.....especially when they were making the dough for their panda steamed buns and she got her hands black up to the wrists.

The ability of many of them is amazing, too. They're so confident and cheery. I would have been a puddle of tears at that age.

LavenderAskew · 18/01/2022 21:42

I went back and rewatched Oliva's bits, her box of me (or whatever it was called) wasn't neat and not baked well. So I can see now why it was her.

Shame, her cake yesterday was amazing.

Justkeeppedaling · 18/01/2022 23:20

The scruffy kid should have gone. Is it Gabriel?

Ellmau · 19/01/2022 08:23

The technical was really hard.

Mia should have presented her ones that fell on the floor. She couldn't have finished any worse in the technical than she did.

KillingMeDeftly · 19/01/2022 09:02

He's hilarious though. So much to say for himself!
evilharpy · 19/01/2022 09:05

Oh I didn't realise this had started. My daughter will be delighted. She's only 7 but wants to be a contestant Grin

jay55 · 19/01/2022 20:33

The Harry Hill choux might be my favourite challenge ever. And the kids being worried he'd be insulted by their efforts was adorable.

Loved the colourful breads tonight, they all really went for it.

Toddlerteaplease · 20/01/2022 12:25

I loved the reactions to the tapanade. Especially the Geordie girl who said it was minging.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 20/01/2022 15:07

Finally caught up with all episodes to date! What a great show. My money was on Kezia to win until the second batch arrived and there are several there who could give Kezia a run for her money. I suspect little Gabriel won't make it to finals week, but I'd have bet Eliza would, so what do I know - it all depends on how it goes in the next heat.

I really like all the children. Macy from Liverpool hasn't been mentioned, I don't think. I loved her little plaits. Fraser from Yorkshire is amazing with his ducks and his vegetable plot and his incredible baking skill and knowledge.

To my knowledge I've never watched Harry Hill on anything before, but I really like the way he is with the children. It must help to put them at ease. I assume they're picked as much for confidence and personality as baking skill.

TeaMeBasil · 20/01/2022 15:24

I've never watched this or the grown up Bake off before but I am loving it - caught the first episode and was just hooked.

Love the kids. And have to say, I'm not a fan of Harry Hill's comedy but he is actually great with the kids and I love how they roll their eyes at him sometimes!

LaBelleSauvage123 · 20/01/2022 16:39

Fraser to win I think. He seems like a dedicated and very competent baker.
