Julienne rushes to Hungary to find British ambassador ds,I’ll

He was radicalised (if that’s what happened) long before he disappeared - that’s what the ‘girlfriend’ emails show.

Timeline: emails, disappearance, terrorist activity. Is that right? I may have completely misunderstood.

Piggywaspushed · 05/08/2021 07:29

In episode one the two boys were constantly on their phones. They looked at something together and looked concerned/alarmed. It was difficult to read expressions at the time because one boy is mute and teens do always look at phones, but it wasn't a 'normal' reaction.

Piggywaspushed · 05/08/2021 07:30

But that does suggest Will is in on it too , or knew what was going on.

I guess the death of their sister made them vulnerable to grooming. It does seem far fetched though that two affluent boys in Hungary from an enlightened , non Hungarian family would be radicalised.

Indeed.

So much of this story doesn’t entirely make sense. (Though I enjoy the additional tension provided by the non-linear telling.)

Edmontine · 05/08/2021 08:22

It makes one wonder why Emma needed to be an ambassador (with the international politics implications) rather than an English Lang teacher or a medic or any other occupation that might take a British woman to Hungary. Will some reason for the ambassadorship eventually be revealed. It’s true her colleague looks shifty.

butterpuffed · 05/08/2021 08:47

Oh, I didn't notice the brothers on their phones. Sometimes I have to read the posts to pick things up I may have missed Grin

I assumed juts because it makes her higher profile so her DSs better know to groups, as it were. There aren't a huge number of Language teachers abroad with a whole family, tbh.

The ambassador thing is annoying me though as the plot doesn't involve any diplomatic interventions!

AngryMuppet · 05/08/2021 14:32

@Edmontine

Baptiste’s grief is understandable as he shot her son

Not necessary. The boy had just murdered people right in front of him. Possibly the only reason Emma wasn’t killed was that her son recognised her. Shooting him was completely reasonable. Even she ought to be able to see that.

Congratulations Mrs Blonde! Don't have too much fun now Wink

I thought he was planning on shooting Emma again, but that woman landed on top of her which essentially shielded her. I didn't realise he stopped because he recognised her.

Don't really care that Baptiste's daughter is dead (sorry but her character swerved between "brat" and "brat, but on drugs"). It's felt quite gratuitous and out of nowhere to just make everything more depressing when you consider that Baptiste was going to shoot Alex too. Waste not to see more of her relapse rather than just offing her imo.

Baptiste and Celia can't get divorced. They just can't.

Love Fiona Shaw in other things but she's not really working for me here. She's fine but I think somebody else might have been better - more sympathetic and agonising. I can't explain why but I feel hardly any sympathy for her!

I didn't realise he stopped because he recognised her.

Well, I can’t be sure. Grin But why else have him stand right over her? It would be highly unusual not to recognise your own mother at close quarters - no matter what state of murderous glee you’d got yourself into.

I do think they’ve pushed things too far this season. When Baptiste said he had one daughter who’d recently died and one son, just discovered, who was in prison on a life sentence ... You’d have needed a heart of stone not to laugh.

Edmontine · 05/08/2021 15:06

What I’d really like would be a season that went back in time to show how Julien and Celia got together. But they’d inevitably use younger actors, which would be pointless. I want to see these characters twenty five years ago ...

So many questions ... Did she ever own a hairbrush? Did she ever have a career, or even a job? How the fuck did they meet? Did she ever, ever, ever consider that there might be more to life than pleading with her husband to come home?

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/08/2021 15:48

How did Emma recognise this as her son

I now want to give Fiona Shaw a slap every time she speaks (even though I can't hear a lot of it).

LadyEloise1 · 07/08/2021 14:40

You are not alone.
And I, being Irish too was so proud of her acting achievements.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/08/2021 15:32

I phoned Virgin trying to get a new remote for the tv.
48 minutes waiting so in the end I hung up.
Sh*t service.
Then they sent me a text asking would I recommend Virgin.
NO !

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 08/08/2021 22:01

Talks to self. Anyone watch tonight’s ?

Oh. That was good. Started off slow but def by end wow

Got a little confused with the man who got kicked outside his shop But that was the dad who met victor

Great skateboard whacking !!

I think Micheal is innocent but obv kamille isn't

So we know Will is alive but with lots of money

Alex is dead shot by baptistery

And hubby shot by andras

But do we know why ?

So who is Gomorrah

And finally
Baptist has reliesed he has something to love for

Stops drinking and has a shave. Yah !

Tho if they flip 14mth to now I will bet confused. Guess have to see is Emma is in a wheelchair

Wife obv still loves him. Surely she can understand why he flipped out with their daughter and killing Will. Tho equally if he didn't tell her he shot and killed a boy , she probably thinks it's all about their daughter

And doesn't understand why they can't share their grief

Roll on Sunday !!!

Grin Had to skip most of your post as I won’t be watching for a few days.

(Of necessity I have been holding lengthy conversations with myself for most of the past year and a half ...)

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/08/2021 22:21

Avoid the thread till You watch @Edmontine

That’s what I do

I missed how Baptiste managed to catch the obviously much fitter and faster Will. Suddenly, Will was on the ground, but how? Did Baptiste throw something at him?
