Well this is a bit depressing! Watching on catch up half way through. I hope they have a good explanation

rosalindwi · 18/07/2021 22:38

I love the missing too. Was baptiste in all of those?

LadyEloise · 18/07/2021 23:30

I'm glad I'm not the only one who found it difficult to hear.
So many unanswered questions....

JemimaTab · 19/07/2021 00:35

I loved series 1 of The Missing. In particular, I found the ending incredibly chilling. Series 2 was also good (especially Roger Allam and his fake dementia act, which his daughter eventually cottoned on to), but I found Baptiste series 1 just OK, really - it got a bit confusing, and I was never that invested in Baptiste’s family stuff. I do like Tcheky though.
This series though I think is shaping up rather well. The cast is excellent. So I’m sufficiently intrigued to keep going.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/07/2021 06:52

DONT SCROLL DOWN IF HAVENT SEEN MISSING 1 and 2. And baptists 1

If i R.E.M. correctly we weren’t sure of the ending of missing 1 Was it Oliver who opened the door - I thought it was left hanging

2 was good. Someone called it early on who the killed was as was a well known person ans said they wouldn’t have a little role

Baptist 1 was complicated with drugs and prositutes plus a son he didn’t know

Kinda R.E.M. his daughter being preg but not what happened.

Had almost forgotten this was going to be on. Not well promoted at all, BBC!

Found it quite gripping although no clue where the plot is going. Presume there will be some particular reason why the Ambassador's family was targeted? So the mute son is still alive? Presume he'd been mute since the death of his sister?

BaconAndAvocado · 19/07/2021 09:32

Fantastic first episode.

Brilliant acting and interesting storyline.

All episodes on iplayer? I know what we’ll be watching tonight.

youngestisapsycho · 19/07/2021 09:47

He kept seeing a toy elephant that wasn't actually there... something to do with the daughter?

Essentially interviews with cast members, one of them gives away what I consider crucial information which you don't get from episode one and I wish I hadn't seen it.

Tealwarrior · 19/07/2021 11:29

I really enjoy Baptiste but I’m having trouble keeping up with all the flashbacks in this series.

charliebear78 · 19/07/2021 14:22

Glad this is back..I particularly enjoyed the missing 1
Wasn't that bothered by baptiste 1..(read the recap and I had totally forgotten about the ex and the son!)
Hope this one is better..not sure yet!
One thing I do enjoy are the threads where we can all discuss our thoughts and theories

ginislife · 19/07/2021 14:30

I started S1 last night so I'm not reading this thread. I watched 3 episodes. Loved it

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/07/2021 16:05

I love the chats and theories we have

The series set in Amsterdam with Tom Hollander is a cracker so I'm up for this. Things clearly have gone right of the rails for Baptiste since.

5foot5 · 19/07/2021 22:04

Loved both the Missing but I though series 2 was even better than series 1.

The first Baptiste was quite good but not as good as The Missing I thought. However, I am enjoying this series very much so far. Thought the end of the first episode a bit of a surprise to say the least.

I honestly had no trouble hearing the dialogue, didn't think they mumbles especially. Could it be your TVs?

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/07/2021 22:15

So why do we think she is in a wheelchair

And why was this the case that broke Baptistery

OP posts:
Longdistance · 19/07/2021 22:32

I don’t know. I was listening in to the Ambassador’s pronunciation in Hungarian, it was terrible, barely legible to understand. I could’ve given her lessons.
Baptiste looked like he was signing divorce papers?

R00tat00tt00t · 19/07/2021 23:11

I've enjoyed previous series of The Missing & Baptiste and I'm intrigued by this series so far, there's something very sinister about it all. I probably didn't concentrate as much as I usually would as DH not watching it with me and pottering about whilst watching. I think it was a bit mumbly and all the jumping back and forth on timeline was a bit hard to follow but I'm going to stick with it.
A few thoughts so far are:
Does/did the "kidnapper" with the lined tattoo on neck have a connection with the ambassadors dead daughter e.g. boyfriend?/dealer? and does the son (who doesn't communicate verbally) know him/trust him?
Also wondering if Baptiste and ambassador get a bit too close due to shared loss of daughters hence ex-wife and divorce papers...
Was the ambassador involved in some dodgy business which made her family a target?
Usually a few red herrings thrown in with this type of series inc. The Missing but can't remember if any in last Baptiste?
Might skim/rewatch episode one before next episode?
Look forward to hearing all your theories...

Yes he or she said they were divorce papers

Can I join you? Watched both of Missing and s1 of Baptiste. Watched s2 ep1 on iPlayer.
Now have to decide whether to binge watch s2 or go at TV pace....

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/07/2021 12:56

Welcome to join us if tv pace

No binging /spoilers on this thread

We like to pick each episode apart for a week 😂

Ohhhh ... That was a little too exciting. And horribly sad.

I finished S1 a couple of days ago and have just watched E1, S2. Baptist had already had the surgery on his brain tumour at the start of S1 - you could see the scar above his left ear. His daughter and her partner had a baby daughter; not newborn but not yet a toddler. Heaven knows what's happened since the end of S1!

And d i v o r c e ??? It's unthinkable, why have the writers rained down such misery on everyone?

Cracking end to this episode though! Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/07/2021 20:55

Yes I had forgotten he had had the surgery

But divorce 😢

This case broke him , made him grow a bad beard so you know he’s in a bad place , plus divorce from the love of his life

OP posts:
Edmontine · 20/07/2021 21:10

His daughter was probably smothered by that Very Bad Wig.

Wonder what happened. All his fam were safe and well at the end of S1.
