Speculation isn't spoilering ...

How have I managed to tolerate two seasons of The Missing, and S1 of Baptiste? This Season is just so relentlessly depressing, so far.

And. How on Earth has Anastasia Hille tolerated the stupidly one dimensional portrayal of Celia? She doesn't own a hairbrush, and her entire existence seems to consist of waiting for her husband to come home. Nothing more (unless daughter-related). Why didn't they give her - across four series - even a sniff of some independent life of her own?

LadyEloise · 26/07/2021 21:29

"I bet she attacks the thugs terrorising her df."
I agree @JaniieJones

bh2210 · 26/07/2021 21:31

Oh this series was just so awful. Terrible. Maybe due to the small covid cast but it was stilted, slow and pretty predictable.

Edmontine · 26/07/2021 21:51

bh2210 Hmm If you have seen all of series 2 - we do not want to know what happens. Nor even your impressions of the whole series.

Ilovetea33 · 26/07/2021 22:29

I don't think the jumbled-up timeline is doing it any favours. We already know that whatever happened 14 months ago, it didn't lead to the discovery of the younger son. I was quite bored at times.

Theorangeorange · 26/07/2021 22:33

Isn't this a repeat?

butterpuffed · 27/07/2021 13:14

Oooh, only found out last night there was a Series 2, it wasn't well advertised.

Haven't read all of this thread as have only caught up with episode 1, looks promising so far !

LadyEloise · 27/07/2021 15:38

@Theorangeorange
No it's not a repeat.

Agree @butterpuffed

Only knew was on as saw it on plan assumed it was a repeat of 1

But then read it and knew it was new

Caught up with episode 2 and this thread !

I think it's a bit confusing as they've added quite a few new characters in a short space of time but it's still well worth watching.

charliebear78 · 28/07/2021 13:02

I'm watched episode three..no spoilers from me..
I was getting abit fed up and distracted while watching episode 2 but after the 3rd I am fully back on board.
Hope you all agree.

BaconAndAvocado · 28/07/2021 14:11

Definitely! The series is starting to improve loads.

I know, I know!!!!
Can't do it again though because it spoils the thread, and I enjoy this probably more than watching it!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/07/2021 22:34

Yes our rambling is good 😂

Oh my word !
A lot revealed in Episode 3 😮
I find it very hard to hear what Fiona Shaw is saying.

Clawdy · 02/08/2021 09:03

Me too, she whispers and hardly moves her lips. Subtitles yet again for me.

LadyEloise · 02/08/2021 09:20

@Clawdy " .....she whispers and hardly moves her lips."
Spot on.

DH and I can hear both Baptiste and the Hungarian police officer fine.
I think Fiona Shaw is a superb actor but I wish she didn't mumble in this show.

Our remote is on the blink so we can't use subtitles as we are afraid to press any buttons on it while watching as it might go kaput altogether and then there'd be a mad scurry to the other smaller tv in another room mid episode.

Note to self - must get a new remote this week.

charliebear78 · 02/08/2021 09:53

Congrats @Blondeshavemorefun

LadyEloise · 02/08/2021 10:00

Was it Blondeshavemorefun own wedding this weekend ? Hmm

I am completely the opposite. Can't make out Baptiste half the time, or the baddy Hungarian guy but am fine with Fiona Shaw and Anastasia Hille.

What I can't make out is whether Fiona is 'doing Scottish' like she did in Killing Eve (because she is a British ambassador, or whether that's her normal Irish voice. it seems to change..

Must say, I saw the Adam twist coming a mile off...didn't want to post 'he isn't actually dead is he?' on here in case I was told it was a spoiler!

I am finding this series pretty dull. Too much chit chat. And massively stretched credulity. I think an ambassador is a bright person - and seems not to have noticed any signs at all of her son's radicalisation.

Also.. wouldn't the British government and media be literally crawling all over the family of an ambassador being abducted/murdered??!

hopeishere · 02/08/2021 13:48

I was looking for a thread on this!compared to other series it's poor. Fiona Shaw is woeful and I've always rated her as an actress.

Far too much jumping about in time as well.

So the boys "disappeared" but they didn't really they were off with this group and the dad was killed accidentally in the wood?

SueSaid · 02/08/2021 14:07

The forensics who checked over the laptop weren't very good if they didn't spot the obviously fake girlfriend. Also how did they know where the attack was going to take place? I missed that bit.

I could understand the son being involved but I thought him finishing off the dying was a bit extreme, more believable if he'd been scared and was trying to run away.

That said I do think it is gripping, well made and quite like it.
