So - you people have persuaded me to attempt 'The Missing' - never seen before.

Hope it's worth abandoning my rapidly-approaching-deadline rightful occupation for. (It's too hot to work, anyway.)

Edmontine · 21/07/2021 14:39

You're not serious - another missing child? And small? Not sure I'm up for this ...

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/07/2021 16:52

The missing is good. Both of them

Loved the missing and the euro vibe. Halfway through Baptiste series 1 and enjoying it. May binge watch it next few days and move on to series 2.

Sanguinesuzy · 21/07/2021 17:05

Currently watching the Slap on Amazon. Cheesy sex scenes but otherwise pretty good.

Gemma2019 · 21/07/2021 22:23

I hated the Missing series 1 but loved series 2.

Finding Baptiste a bit hard to watch actually as I'm nervous about something awful happening. I think this series is going to be hardcore. Enjoying it though.

Funny to see our nice mortuary man from Finding Alice turning up as a cheater in this.

Gemma2019 · 22/07/2021 00:01

That was meant to say character.

Looking forward to the next one, although my brain struggled to keep up with the back and forth of time.

Edmontine · 23/07/2021 08:53

Finished S1 of 'The Missing' last night. That was a cruel eight hours ... May take a break before S2.

But having watched that, it does seem as if Baptiste's daughter must (now, in S2 'Baptiste') have died as a result of her addiction. Either the drugs killed her or someone involved in the drugs trade. Nasty thought. But I hope her baby and her rather sweet looking partner survived.

Ridiculously I still keep hoping the D I V O R C E is some sort of sham. Even though we've seen them both crying. Sad

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/07/2021 09:31

Maybe the divorce is to shock him but she doesn’t do anything wirh signes papers

And ... The Missing S2 done!

That was very excellent. So complex - or complicated, not sure which. I guessed the main thing - it's an old story. First read a version serialised in a girls' magazine (Bunty maybe?) a very long time ago. And there's a hmm - is it Josephine Tey(?) novel. And of course 'The Return of Martin Guerre'. More recent novels and films as well, probably. Also guessed about the shed.

Entertaining isn't quite the right word. It was tremendously absorbing. Hope the rest of Baptiste 2 will be as thrilling, though it doesn't look as if it will be any less depressing than Baptiste S1.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/07/2021 19:42

Looking forward to tonight’s

This is clear as mud. Confused

Clawdy · 25/07/2021 22:06

Getting very confusing tonight.

SueSaid · 25/07/2021 22:11

So pleased the policewoman's dad didn't come to a grisly end.

I quite like it, implausible though it is. Surely experts would have been all over the recording before Baptiste examined it and how remiss to have had it playing in the office when she walked in!

Moanranger · 25/07/2021 22:28

Not loving this. Scene changes & plot/timeline chaotic. I am starting not to care what happens.
Also -the sound😱! My son is a sound engineer & would be highly critical, but corners are often cut in audio, apparently

midsomermurderess · 25/07/2021 22:37

I'm just not feeling this at the moment.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/07/2021 08:54

So the video shooting was a fake and he’s alive

LadyEloise · 26/07/2021 09:41

The sound !!!
I missed a lot because I couldn't hear.
Very confusing.
Why is the policewoman a security guard now ?
Was that explained?

SallyOMalley · 26/07/2021 09:46

I'm enjoying it so far. I don't mind the unanswered questions so much. Clearly something horrific has happened in the last 14 months to result in the key characters losing so much in the meantime. We shall find out ....

Clawdy · 26/07/2021 09:57

I did think the shooting of a young boy was a bit horrific for a tv drama, so it makes sense that it was fake, I guess.

Buggerthebotox · 26/07/2021 10:35

So the boy wasn't shot? I'm still confused about which son it was , and what happened to the other one. And none the wiser still about how Fiona Shaw ended up in a wheelchair.

BaconAndAvocado · 26/07/2021 16:11

The one in the video was the older one, not the one who doesn't speak.

SueSaid · 26/07/2021 16:17

@Buggerthebotox

The older boy (? Alex) must be dead as there is a grave so even if the video was fake he presumably dies at some point. The younger non speaking son Will is still being held somewhere and whoever gomorrah is (who they took the terrorist in the car boot to see) may know.

I'm guessing as the mother is in a wheelchair she must have either been shot or fallen as her pursuit of her boys became more desperate and reckless. I think it's quite good the way we don't know much but will obviously get to find out, like the senior police woman who is now a security guard, I bet she attacks the thugs terrorising her df.

BaconAndAvocado · 26/07/2021 19:00

NO SPOILERS 😂

SueSaid · 26/07/2021 19:24

@BaconAndAvocado

NO SPOILERS 😂
I'm guessing! I haven't seen it anything other than what's been on telly.
