I’m so looking forward to this. Just seen the trailer and can’t wait!

I love Julia's style. The jacket and belt combo in the say she says goodbye to the builder was fab

I was a bit disappointed in last night's episode as I didn't find as many laugh out loud moments as usual, but then sometimes it is better on a second watching so I might do that. My favourite line was when someone was pondering what a female version of man cave is and Liz said 'panic room?' Sometimes it's all so quick and deadpan you miss the best lines though. I'm intrigued that some real life problems are more to the front in series 3, with elderly parent, divorce, cancer on the cards. I'm tempted to binge the rest but also want to have Monday nights to look forward to. Might binge in secret then watch again with dh.

Ivy looks about Year 10 now Grin

The best part about it is its realism - you can identify with each and every character on some level.

I know some people have said they don't think Julia is very nice about her mum, but you only have to look at the multiple threads that appear on here to know that many people (me included) dread the idea of potentially having to take in our elderly parents and have to juggle looking after them with work and kids, etc. I know I would be screaming into towels in the bathroom if that happened to me!

It's not because we don't love them, it's because of the societal expectation that we (women in the majority of cases) must put everyone else before ourselves or we are horrible neglectful human beings.

Catmuffin · 11/05/2021 10:56

I love things set in trendy North London. A lot of series seem to be set there such as Behind her Eyes and Too Close. I assumed Julia's clothes are fashionable but not reached where I live yet.

theneverendinglaundry · 11/05/2021 11:15

It's filmed in Acton, I think, which has probably been massively gentrified since I was last there 10 years ago.

I enjoyed it and will probably binge watch the rest of the series this week!

EachandEveryone · 11/05/2021 11:21

Tufnell Park Id say

ferneytorro · 11/05/2021 11:35

Did anyone notice Amanda’s brown leather handbag in last night’s episode and know where it’s from/what brand it is?

i agree, i love her style. i could never pull it off, being larger of build!
Missushbb · 11/05/2021 11:54

the whole series is on iplayer, i don't think it's possible to avoid spoilers!

the80sweregreat · 11/05/2021 11:55

Mrs Lamb works at our school I think 🤔
😀

nicenicenice · 11/05/2021 11:56

This starting last night has made my week and cheered me up so much. Laughed like a drain at the Castrol GTX comment in the opener and Kevin locking his wife in her home office! Completely BRILLIANT.

the80sweregreat · 11/05/2021 13:05

Comb shampoo comb !

mnahmnah · 11/05/2021 13:38

Funnily enough we had our first ever nit letter this morning...

yomommasmomma · 11/05/2021 13:43

I am sitting here watching the next episodes on I played and they get better and better!!! After the first one last moth I was disappointed but I was laughing out loud from the second on onwards! Just brilliant

Igneococcus · 11/05/2021 13:49

I’ve just watched The Terror with the actor in who plays Kevin.

Mr Goodsir is the reason why dd and I started watching Motherland.
I think I'd rather be stranded in the Arctic than picking up my kids at that school, the Tuunbaq is less scary than Mrs Lamb.

Marmaladeagain · 11/05/2021 13:57

Kevin is so well played and so well written. All the characters are to be fair.

Kevin is somehow trying to channel a perfect 1950s subservient housewife in his determination to perfect his role as keeping home life going, it's a little sad to see but funny too - well drawn characters.

Missushbb · 11/05/2021 14:26

do you think they film in real houses or a studio?

SingToTheSky · 11/05/2021 15:34

I have rewatched series two and I’m excited to start on the new one. Gutted I can’t find the Christmas special, I loved it when it first aired!

the80sweregreat · 11/05/2021 16:24

I started a spoiler thread on telly addicts but can't do links.

coffeefi · 11/05/2021 16:24

Have binge watched today whilst working

coffeefi · 11/05/2021 16:31

Joana Lumley - brilliant addition

Sweetpea84 · 11/05/2021 16:51

It was so funny binged the whole series today, I’m in London and the whole pew jumping to get into school made me laugh as I’m pretty sure most do it around my area to get into the local outstanding catholic primary.

alloverthecarpetagain · 11/05/2021 16:54

I always think Julia's house looks very real. I think it's a beautiful house and so classy in the way it is sort of scruffy and cluttered in that very upper class sort of way you can't fake.
desperatehousewife21 · 11/05/2021 17:17

Only seen the first episode of this series, I want to make it last but it’s hard to resist! I’ll prob watch one a day.

Best scene for me when Julia was screaming into the towel and turned around and there was Bill trying to get a moments peace on the toilet Grin I knew it was coming because it was in the trailer but it still made me die
