I’m so looking forward to this. Just seen the trailer and can’t wait!

I've binge watched them all tonight and will watch again week by week. I've loved it since the pilot and always recommend it to people. The actor who plays Kevin looks so much like an ex of mine it spooks me out at times. He is very versatile and does dark and brooding very well (the actor, not my ex 😂). Not a spoiler but what a different side we see to Kevin this series!
I love liz. Funny and pragmatic.
I've lived in London's nappy valley and it is just like this in many ways.

Missushbb · 11/05/2021 00:37

just finished watching them all, loved it. quite teary in bits too. so good. i thought julia's husband looked so
different, checked at the end at it is the same actor, he looks really different i thought. yes Kevin is great. i love Ann too and Liz. and amanda!! she's a great actress! love meg too. julia is probably the least likeable! but so honest. i was teary at her parts too. loved it

Why is she so mean to her mother though? It makes me cringe.

BikeRunSki · 11/05/2021 06:46

@BlueDaysTillChristmas

Joanna Lumley is GENIUS casting.
Agreed!
the80sweregreat · 11/05/2021 06:52

Julia is selfish and can't handle her mums dependency on her. I know plenty of people like this , but they cover it up a lot more!

minou123 · 11/05/2021 07:05

I binge watched all of s3. I thought it was great.

I swear the writers are on mumsnet. I recognise a lot of the storylines from threads Grin

mizu · 11/05/2021 07:23

Watched 1st episode of series 3 last night. Star I really liked it, they are all so watchable. Star

Maireas · 11/05/2021 07:33

Do they find the worst clothes for Julia from a charity clearance shop? That purply puffa coat she wore in the playground was the ugliest thing ever, and that dreadful bobbly jumper the colour of mould! Hideous. Amanda is a good character, I worked with a woman just like that. Dismissing Anne as having worked in Gregg's! She's a brilliant snob.

funtimefrank · 11/05/2021 08:04

I also binge watched.

I have a new found respect for Kevin I must say especially in the last episode in the loo. Love Anne being head of product at gsk and also having the cute little baby on her all the time.

I found Liz a bit flat this season which was a disappointment. I liked Meg more especially in the school trip episode.

I did also get a bit teary a couple of times.

Also bloody hell those kids are massive now. Ivy in particular - she's taller than Julia. I have dds in year 6 and I find it comedy at how different they all are in terms of height depending on how far through puberty they are so this made me smile.

Waveafterwaveslowlydrifting · 11/05/2021 08:16

Nit pandemic was just the right nod to You Know What. Shiny little conker 👌

Timing couldn't be better. I'm off sick so shall watch the rest of the series today.

ElderMillennial · 11/05/2021 08:19

I first started watching this at the weekend and I've watched both series. Really funny. I agree Julia is awful as well. The one when she gets the guy in the cafe to act as her PA! Looking forward to series 3.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 11/05/2021 08:22

I didn't realise that there was a 2nd series let alone a third!

I loved the first series. I remember posting on a thread about good TV shows to watch and raving about it, only to have a sniffy poster telling me that she lived in S London and didn't think it was very true to life. I was very tempted to respond "it's not a fucking documentary, love" but stopped myself.

Missushbb · 11/05/2021 08:27

liz and kevin at her solicitors! so funny!

Creamcrackersandricecakes · 11/05/2021 08:30

Loving it, although I'm finding Julia's fawning over her builder butt clenchingly embarrassing, (which I'm quite sure was exactly the writers intention). Also chuckling at Sonia from Eastenders as the inept teaching assistant Grin.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 11/05/2021 08:52

Can we note spoilers on this thread?

Chickenkatsu · 11/05/2021 08:53

I think that Kevin is a pretty good parent, it's just that no one likes him because he's a try hard.

EachandEveryone · 11/05/2021 08:58

I’m watching it on normal pace if I can.

the80sweregreat · 11/05/2021 09:08

I cheered when Anne revealed her job!
Greggs indeed.. Amanda is such a snob.
Will probably binge watch the others now.

CaveMum · 11/05/2021 10:04

Wasn’t the point about Anne’s job that it was her former job? I took it to mean that’s what she did pre-kids, not what she’s doing now. Certainly if she’s still at GSK they won’t be happy about her working in Amanda’s shop or sitting around the coffee shop all day!

merrygoround88 · 11/05/2021 10:09

Yes I thought it was Ann’s former job too. Not sure how Julia does actually work - she seems to be in the cafe a lot.

Marmaladeagain · 11/05/2021 10:18

I like this too - loved the Halloween episode.

Something that always tickles me when I think about the programme is the episode at the school sports day where no-one understands the announcements over the tannoy and look confused etc

Towards the end Julia has to use the tannoy for an announcement and it's all making perfect sense and earnest etc and then cuts to the crowd and all they can hear is mwhah mwhah etc.

It's a slow burn I found but as you get to know the characters - it's very funny.

the80sweregreat · 11/05/2021 10:19

It was Anna's former job she was talking about.
Pre children : that's what I think anyway.
She has two and the baby and another one on the way ! I doubt she'll have time for Amanda's store ' now. Maybe Liz might fancy that job ? 😂
I loved how she tore into her ex about money ! He is such a loser.

the80sweregreat · 11/05/2021 10:20

Julia is meant to ' work from home ' I believe.

CaveMum · 11/05/2021 10:24

Tanya Moodie (Meg) was on Zoe Ball’s Breakfast Show talking about the show. Definitely worth a listen, about 2hrs 13 mins into the show.
