I saw a school friend on Waterloo road years ago.

A school-gate-Mum was on Pointless, didn't do very well on either attempt but had a blast.

MrsJackRackham · 07/04/2021 22:17

I used to work with someone who turned up on Big Brother.
Same employer, watching Pop Idol and a girl from work was on.
Both odious people and I swore at the TV and switched off.

Ex-pupils - 1 on Jeremy Kyle, 1 on The Biggest Loser, and 1 on a BBC3 documentary called People Like Us -he also appeared on another documentary about aspiring cabin crew.

mrwalkensir · 07/04/2021 23:05

Yes - one's a historian (and just the same as she was at school) and the other is an old work colleague who started doing work as a extra

mrwalkensir · 07/04/2021 23:06

there is another but that would genuinely be much too outing for me and her

Toddlerteaplease · 07/04/2021 23:07

Hospital was filmed in my hospital. So I and loads of people I knew were on it.

SilverOtter · 07/04/2021 23:14

My uncle and my cousin

pinkandstripey · 07/04/2021 23:16

Someone I went to primary school with was on xfactor (got through to live shows), and someone else I know was on Britain's Got Talent (got to final!).

The one on BGT had tried the previous year, and posted on fb and got through judges but was never called to London. So when they went back following year they kept it quiet until they were broadcast.

Xfactor person, I didn't watch xfactor regularly, so hadn't seen it, but my fb went crazy one night. Not seen person in about 25 years and then they pitch up on tv!

My old geography teacher’s husband won a million on Who Wants to be a Millionaire, so she was in the audience. She pops up from time to time on documentaries about it.

One of the mum’s from DS’s first primary school was in that programme where super size and super skinny people swap diets or something like that. She’s still super skinny though so it didn’t work.

LadyCatStark · 07/04/2021 23:21

Oh and someone I went to school with was on The Apprentice.

saffire · 07/04/2021 23:22

Yes a boy that I knew that had learning difficulties was on Britain's got Talent. The only judge that wasn't awful to him was Piers Morgan. It was pretty clear that he had special needs and I think it's sickening that they let him audition so people can get a laugh out of him. I haven't watched it since then.

LadyCatStark · 07/04/2021 23:22

Oh wait... sorry one more. I used to work with Mr McPartlin who took his school choir on BGT.

Iamtooknackeredtorun · 07/04/2021 23:22

Tonight in fact. Watching The Detectives - organised crime programme. I knew a couple of the police officers.

JustanotherTuesday · 07/04/2021 23:22

A relative of mine was on a tv reenactment about the disappearance of a child,as she resembled the mother when it had happened years previously.

saffire · 07/04/2021 23:23

Oh and on one of these brits abroad type programs I saw a friend that had had an accident on holiday and had to go to A&E.

MissPessyMistic · 07/04/2021 23:26

Myself once. I also worked somewhere that had media in every so often, and has had documentaries made about it, so lots of work colleagues seen on tv over the years. I once ran a session with 50 people while the cameras were on me, I was so flipping stressed. Then they didn’t use it!

RampantIvy · 07/04/2021 23:27

One of the GPs from our local GP practice. He is a member of the local mountain rescue team, and was involved in helping loads of people when we had that very snowy winter 11 years ago.

DD's headteacher when the school and parents campaigned for fairer funding. It was the fourth worst funded secondary school in England.

Kirsty MacColl, who went to my school.

My then husband had been working with this new guy for a couple of months but I hadn't met him. He spent every evening talking about this John guy. One night John was featuring in a documentary so we settled down to watch it and when he came on I recognised him - he was the brother of a school friend of mine! I'd known him really well - 20 years ago and 300 miles away!

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 07/04/2021 23:40

I was like OMG, that's John! And DH was saying, Yeah, I told you, it's John. And I was saying No, I know him! It's my John. It was really funny! You had to be there!

TherapistInATabard · 07/04/2021 23:46

I see archaeologist friends and colleagues in documentaries quite often. I one saw a uni friend in a documentary about kids taking their 11 plus. She was the head of the primary school. My best friend went to drama college. She was an actor for a few years then retrained years ago. I see her college friends on things now and again.

Zancah · 07/04/2021 23:49

Yeah, someone I knows DP is a tv presenter.

My fil is often in the paper too.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 07/04/2021 23:52

There's a catholic priest who used to come to our school a lot for retreats etc. I often see him on telly talking about the troubles in Northern Ireland.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 07/04/2021 23:52

My friend's husband is an actor so I see him on telly quite a lot.

VienneseWhirligig · 07/04/2021 23:59

Friend from school is a paramedic on 999 on the Front Line on Channel 4.

Longdistance · 08/04/2021 00:02

One of my friends was on the Chase (she didn’t win anything), she’s been on tv for other things, but it’s outing.
I guy I knew years ago who lived in the next street was on Wanted Down Under. I believe he moved to Oz in the end.
