Anyone else watching? More plot holes than a colander. Could be such a good story, but the writing is so lazy. Yet another Kay Mellor drama featuring Gaynor Faye.

OP posts:

What a waste of time the whole Monaco stuff was - just seems to me like Kay Mellor and her daughter fancied a jaunt aboard at the BBCs expense Grin I was much more interested in the back stories and they could've been fleshed out so much better. Or I would've just been interested in how the lottery win changed things for the better (or worse!) Never mind, it was a bit of light watching I guess!

zeromango · 05/05/2021 09:38

The end was also very very obvious - I knew they were going to buy the kennels from the minute it was going to be bought out by 4Paws! Just annoying as it could've been pretty decent.

longwayoff · 05/05/2021 09:41

I swear I've seen better productions in schools than this. Lockdown's got a lot to answer for. Nice dogs though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/05/2021 10:39

Well I enjoyed. Simple drama

Obv tney got their money back

Not sure who blonde one got with in the end ? Divorced bloke / ex bf junkie or younger computer geek

Or happy alone

Engagement. Awwwww

Hit man ha ha

And they saved the dogs home

Catcheronthesly · 05/05/2021 12:03

The hitman storyline was just shoved in at the end, it could have been so much more interesting. The same can be said of Collette’s heroin-addict ex. I feel like the focus was in the wrong places for the first 5 episodes!

EscapeTheCastle · 05/05/2021 12:10

I watched it because I adore a lottery winner story, fictional or real!

Oh my goodness the last two episodes were full of random events.

"The exercise field will be made into a car park?!! we must save the dogs by buying the kennels!!, we love the dogs so much.."

Collettes flash backs of boyfriend on the beach and him turning up and girl in pink jacket flashbacks about her Dad . All last minute and rushed.

Vengeful Gran! It was all quite funny at the end.

Making an assumption that Kay Mellor has a production company, makes what she wants, with whom ever she wants and then the BBC or ITV can choose to buy it or not.

crankycow80 · 05/05/2021 12:19

The hitman storyline was absolutely hilarious - blink and you'd miss it. They should have cut out the whole Monaco nonsense and focused on the backstories. Also was there any explanation as to why the evil ex suddenly gave him shared custody?

Laburnam · 05/05/2021 13:20

Writing by numbers except didn’t even join up 🤣

CauliflowerSneeze · 05/05/2021 15:14

OK, a bit random in some parts but I enjoyed it

JustDanceAddict · 05/05/2021 15:21

The hitman Gran was the best bit!!
Apart from that, it was shite.
The Monaco bit was pointless as all they had to do was find the cctv, but I suppose gayno faye’s character had to have an excuse not to be there!

CauliflowerSneeze · 05/05/2021 15:48

OK and the Monaco bit then , they stayed at a budget hotel, sharing a room in the harbour??? Grin Grin Grin
Oh OK it was shit, but enjoyable shit

Lightswitchesoffatnight · 05/05/2021 17:09

We agree with everyone else but secretly quite enjoyed it. My DH said it ended better than LOD 😂

woodhill · 05/05/2021 18:26

Duke stole the show

Mooserp · 05/05/2021 20:22

I just don't understand why I watched it all. 😆 it was so ridiculous!

The make up artist won the worst acting award.

VanGoghsDog · 08/05/2021 18:59

I was in awe of how white all their teeth were, given how broke they are all supposed to be and how British people's teeth usually look. Mark Benton's teeth looked normal!

faithfulbird20 · 09/05/2021 00:24

The hitman/dad storyline was weird. Did the dad push the mum...I felt sorry for him because he looked like he cared for his daughter and he wasn't evil enough (looks wise) should have made him more evil...

AliceSprings123 · 09/05/2021 13:04

@woodhill

Duke stole the show
But did he? I was even a bit annoyed with Duke, who was taking direction from his off-camera handler and not interacting with the kennel girls, I thought.
excelledyourself · 10/09/2023 23:10

I watched this this weekend.

I know I'm two years late, but can anyone explain something to me.

Keeley's backstory: she said the mums boyfriend had assaulted her three years before. Her mum kicked her out, and it was the next day that she met Jake for the first time and he suggested the job at Woodvale. Couple of months later, Jake and Keeley are seeing each other, when Georgina announces she's pregnant.

Present day, Jakes daughter is about 6?!

Also, Colette and Richard. What a lucky escape he had!
