Anyone else watching? More plot holes than a colander. Could be such a good story, but the writing is so lazy. Yet another Kay Mellor drama featuring Gaynor Faye.

So. Much. Bad. Acting.

margoyuwer · 30/03/2021 22:24

it cant be as bad as the itv Kay Mellor drama from a few years back Girlfriends, that was so unbelievable. I feel like its always gcse drama type performances, but it was easy watch after Line of Duty and Unforgotten past two nights

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 30/03/2021 22:59

I watched the series of the Syndicate about the staff at the country house and that was much more believable.

So looking forward to this tonight as watched the first one. This was dull and boring I nearly switched off

Lordamighty · 30/03/2021 23:02

Dreadful, I genuinely don’t know how she is getting this stuff on TV.

That's what I was thinking - just who does it appeal to, other than Gaynor Faye fans?

It’s always it’s grim up north and my daughter has to be in it. Nobody likes nepotism.

Northernsoullover · 30/03/2021 23:11

I liked it Blush. I thought it was entertaining. Its certainly cheesy though.

theliverpoolone · 30/03/2021 23:11

I nodded off about 3 times! And was disappointed at the end as I thought each episode was going to be a stand alone story, not a continuation. Dont think I'll bother next week.

Neil Morrissey is always just Neil Morrissey isnt he Hmm

Longdistance · 30/03/2021 23:24

NM just plays the same typecast Men Behaving Badly fool, loud shirts, thick as mince.

20questions · 31/03/2021 02:14

Did the producer get a cheap job lot of ex Coronation Street actorsGrin

lollipoprainbow · 31/03/2021 07:28

Was really looking forward to this but switched off after ten mins was bored !!!

TheVolturi · 31/03/2021 08:34

The acting is just terrible isn't it, it really is amateur!

TheVolturi · 31/03/2021 08:35

I will add, apart from Shane! He was brilliant when the bailiff came.

defnotadomesticgoddess · 31/03/2021 08:49

I liked it. Nice change from things like Bloodlands, Unforgotten which I’ve been watching recently.

Not in Line of Duty he wasn't.

I didn't see it or would have replied on it. What did you make of it?

This might amuse you

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/tv/syndicates-gaynor-faye-reveals-reservations-20284794.amp

Gaynor Faye apparently ‘has reservations’ about being in everything her mother writes because of ‘boring old’ suggestions of nepotism.

Apparently her mother makes her audition (so not nepotism at all, see!) and she has to call her mother ‘Kay’ on set instead of ‘mum’. So that’s all right, then!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 31/03/2021 14:43

I really like some of the Kay mellor stuff so I’m hoping this improves - don’t need it to be up to LOD standards but maybe more like The Split

EsmaCannonball · 31/03/2021 15:08

I watched the first series so thought I'd give this a try. The casting was terrible, except for the dogs - Duke, in particular being a star. The low point was Neil Morrissey staging his own suicide, calling the police about it while in the back of a cab, and then answering his phone the next day. If you need that kind of stupidity to make the plot work then you need a major re-think. Neither did I understand why they didn't call the police or the lottery company. I know it's meant to be a light drama but it needs some kind of internal logic.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 31/03/2021 16:16

That pretty much sums it up for me @EsmaCannonball

I didn't enjoy it. It's lazily written and sentimental. I found the latest series of Moving On much the same. Just retreading tired old material.

yellowlorry123 · 31/03/2021 21:10

It's really silly and totally unfeasible but all her stuff is. She really churns it out, same formula each time. Gaynor Faye plays herself again. She's the same in everything she ever does

Taj Atwal was also in In the club playing a pregnant young northerner with a useless boyfriend

They always seem so familiar and predictable

stumbledin · 31/03/2021 23:18

Another series way past its sell by date.

Characters by numbers. I remember earlier series having quite convincing family and work issues.

This was just teen drama.
