It’s cold, dark and there’s a pandemic but one bright light is the new series of drag race tomorrow. The last series was so joyful and really put British drag back on the map. I hope this series is just as good

This is exactly it! You can't be bitchy without being a total bully! That said, I was thrilled that Ellie made it to the final too. If only to see LC's face which was a complete picture! I almost want Tayce to win now. BBB winning is just too obvious. I adore them both however.

Fuck me, Lawrence is still wanging on about last week, isn’t she? Give it a rest love. On the up side, I’ve warmed very much to Tayce.

I thought the EastEnders skit was brilliant so it fell to the outfits to separate the tops from the bottoms - Tayce got it wrong IMO and, like Graham, I was expecting something spectacular from Ellie but it didn’t materialise.

Bimini was blimmin’ brilliant as ever so I’m #teamBimini all the way to the final!

Cynical me - I thought Ellie was wearing her finalist costume as she thought she wouldn't be in the final and wanted to wear it and go out in style.
Should have been LED and LC bottom two as both fluffed their lines recording. With a Sheena Easton lipsync ( I know Strut has been used in US but any Sheena would do) or Annie Lennox.
Preferred LED and LC's runways though so it was close.
Adore Tayce but he has had a lot of bodices/less elaborate looks.
Happy with a final four tbh as both Tayce and LED did a great lipsync. Think LED would have beaten LC and would have been harder to call a draw. Still think Asstina wuz robbed way back.
Finally our Eurovision entry sucks, it really does, second time entrant or not, and we missed a trick not having the UK Kingdolls entering

I wasn't shocked by the double shantay. But personally, I think LC and LED should've been bottom 2, not Tayce. I think it annoys me a little when Ru does a British challenge but doesn't really understand the British thing they are parodying.
Like Michelle and Ru commenting on Tayce doing Karen, that she should've done it more like the whole "complain to the manager" Karen trope. But if Tayce was parodying Sharon Mitchell, the big blonde hair and boobs, and eyebrow movements, was spot on for Leticia Dean when she is playing Sharon. Ru and Michelle probably wouldn't know that.
The whole mannequin thing because Danny Dyer couldn't appear as planned due to lockdown/bubbles was silly, surely he could've been put in on a screen like Natalie Cassidy?
I know it won't be popular but LED should've gone. No badges, only one I think mini challenge win, nope, should've gone.

Oh and I found out yesterday that Michelle Visage was part of the group Seduction, who did one of the coolest balaeric/early house tune ever in the late 80s (also called Seduction).
I knew she had been in a musical group but not that one

So dd is now back at college so I had my first ever watch party with her.

We want Bimini to win and Tia to get Miss Congeniality (assuming Veronical isn't eligible).

I think Bimini is very talented. A real all rounder. We loved Lawrence's comedy at the start but now he just gets on our nerves. LED really should have gone all out panto Dame. Agree with th judges though Tayce wasn't panto dame.

Michelle actually has a decent signing voice. She's showcased that a few times on the show.

This week's show hasn't changed my opinion on the girls, though if anything it made me love Tayce a bit more. She's a total looks queen but has such a great sense of humour and warmth about her too. She'd be great company. I loved her take on Lawrence, just let it go, love even Ahora's moved on or words to that effect.

I'm surprised they had Ellie in the final. I don't mind her being there at all but I don't think she's progressed that much sweet though she is.

BBB is going from strength to strength. They have such a great range and a level head. Dirty sense of humour too.

I thought Tayce was in line for her first solo badge! I thought she was brilliant in the acting challenge and her outfit was gorgeous. (Although I guess it wasn't really Dame)

I agree with PP who said I don't know that the judges got the reference.

I also agree that it was an odd choice to save LED, keeping A'Whora last week would have been a much better reflection of overall performance. LED is very sweet but I don't think she's got the polish of some of the others.

I've also gone off LC, they always seem to be making it about themselves. Probably as a result of insecurity but it's a bit tiresome

I thought Tayce's acting was excellent and they shouldn't have been in the bottom. LC was rubbish in rehearsals, but managed to do OK - although I agree with the comments that the whining has gone on far too long. LED's acting just wasn't funny and I think they should have gone home. BBB was fabulous, but I still have a massive soft spot for Tayce!

Dot Cotton is iconic, with a withering ''I say'' in June Brown tones.
So I agree.
I did think her lip sync was as good as Tayce's though, so cannot feel begrudgy, especially in light of her shit dad, maccy Ds work ethic and sewing ability. Also, I think LC has taken the Scottish mantle such a lot, aided and abetted by Ru, that LED deserves a shot as a finalist to shed much needed light on the Scottish scene.

BBB is absolutely acing this for me now. I still love LC but they need to learn when to let go, I think ED go that they were pissed off with them about the order for the stand up, just move the hell on.

Whilst Tayce's acting wasn't bad, the accent was really off. They did sound Australian in parts... the others all nailed the accents I thought. But I agreed with Tayce that the other two, who turned up to rehearsals completely unprepared, should have been in the bottom.

Okay, so just saw BBB on the livestream event...

BBB: lipsync-dance to Money Can't Buy It, which was very Demi Moore in Striptease, had a decent headstand, bend and jumping split and felt like a lapdance (I am naive clearly)

Grace Shush: did a brolly-twirling lipsync to Don't rain on my parade

Chiyo: transman drag king did a lipsync to Netta's Toy - he reminded me of a very petite Prince except have never seen the purple one deep-throat a brown dildo (no longer naive clearly)

BBB: Q+A highlights

• the studio is really cold as RuPaul likes it icy
• BBB was going to do Jennifer Saunders in Snatch Game but switched as disapproved of a couple of things on JS's twitterfeed
• made a joke about Katie Price selling her knickers on e-bay that didn't air
• had thought about saying she was Covid on the prehistoric bacterium outfit but it would not have aged well
• didn't change any of her outfits in the filming gap, still defends her footie strip outfit, was told by her co-designer to dump the stones costume but went with it anyway, RuPaul said she was high fashion a couple of times
• favourite challenge was Eurovision
• Snog - Awhora, Marry - Tayce (as she would never be late again in comparison), Avoid - the lighting
• likes Gottmik and Symone in US current series

They made an effort but no audience means it's difficult obviously and there didn't seem to be any effort made with comedy side of it, which surprised me. No spoilers or insight into the final, but are doing well in the Radio times poll - not sure whether WoW takes notice of such things. Tayce is my favourite so shrugs> BBB did confirm they had had their outfits made by two designers which also makes me root for LED a bit more than I was as I think they made the majority of theirs.

On another note, I used to watch this but forgot Veronica Green was ever on it...

@LIamaDelRey clearly I'm naive as I thought all contestants played a big part in the creation of their outfits... Tayce has worn a few that Awhora created. Have to say I'm super impressed with anyone that actually made their own throughout like LED etc

They are co-creators so BBB has the ideas and her designer turns them into reality. Have had the convo before - what happens if you are broke and/or relatively new and so don't have a vast wardrobe or budget or designer contacts. It's why Tia was deemed basic imho and why HeidiNCloset was less polished than the others. Some outsource. Some sew, some don't.

Thank for sharing those links Llama, interesting reading. I have so much respect for the queens that make their own runway outfits, its so creative and skillful!!

I hate drag. We quite rightly would call out a show of white people dressing up and acting like black people or Asian people and taking the piss out of them oh sorry, it's making comedy, so why is this okay?

you are entitled to your opinion how ever i have a few points to make about this. so obviously white people dressing up as people of other races is very wrong, and should never be encouraged, however drag is not like this. Drag is a theatrical art form and is a way of expressing your identity, like a singer or dancer would. Gender is fluid, so drag queens performing in their female personas is not taking the piss out of cisgender women, but in fact just having fun with no harsh intentions. As a female, i enjoy drag and see no offence in it as drag queens are not making fun of women, but actually expressing their voices and celebrating their art and identity.

but aside from that, I LOVE drag race, it helps get me through the week! xx
