Is anyone else looking forward to this? Once it finishes, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier starts, and then Louise after that. After 2020 being a Marvel-less year I am quite excited for a big dose of MCU escapism.

This episode 4 review is also a real eye opener:

lovecraftcounty · 29/01/2021 22:45

@JM10
I guess there has to be someone for them to fight at the end
But so far I could believe it's all her

Mrsjayy · 29/01/2021 22:46

the entire MCU. And Elizabeth Olsen has been outstanding.

Isn't she fantastic we love her.

Veuvestar · 29/01/2021 22:46

My son tells me that an interview with Paul Bethany describes 3 acts.
The first is the sitcom, the 2nd the background , the last 3 episodes are pure blockbuster Marvel.

He told me the comic story as well if you want to know?

LemonViolet · 30/01/2021 00:58

I like it when we the viewers are as much in the dark as the main character and only learn things as they do.
Or are we (have we been) more in the dark than Wanda? Does she actually know everything that is going on? She told Vision she has “everything under control”!!! Maybe she’s only just come to that realisation now, with the mention of Ultron bringing it all into sharp focus for her.

Timeline wise this is just a few weeks after Endgame, Monica has been back 3 weeks after the blip, this is her first assignment and she’s only been in WestView a few days max (they reference “yesterday” when they’re viewing ep2 footage? So all that military camp has been constructed in 24hrs!). I like knowing where things fit in. Which means it is before Spider-Man: Far From Home? Wonder if there is anything in that that in retrospect could reference these events. There may be some kind of link with Monica and the Skrulls?

One thing thats slightly bothering me is that, on recognising Wanda, why would they (Sword) not start contacting other Avengers/Shield to ask....errr when did you guys last see her? How did she seem to you? Did she mention anything about heading off to reanimate Vision’s corpse and taking over a small town in New Jersey to construct a fantasy life for the pair of them?

Also, what became of the Sword soldier/beekeeper when Wanda says “no” and rewinds him? Is he ok? He didn’t seem to realise his tether broke!

Finally, loved the slightly meta references “50s, 60s and now 70s, why? Can’t just be for my enjoyment?” Yeah, it’s totally for our enjoyment Grin

Episode 4 was fantastic!

I have to admit I was a bit bored with episode 1 but stuck with it and as they dropped more breadcrumbs in eps 2 and 3 it got more intriguing.

But I see why they did it that way now which made that last episode absolutely worth it.
Teenage dd loved it, spotting the Marvel side characters and shouting: “Ant Man!”, “Thor Lady!”Grin

newlabelwriter · 30/01/2021 07:10

Some great theories in Den of Geek which I’d never in a million years have picked up on. We rewatched Age of Ultron last week and lots of link ups and clues in there I’d forgotten about.

turnitonagain · 30/01/2021 07:12

Loving this show. Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany are just so winning. Episode 4 revealed a lot - I’m not a comic reader so hadn’t guessed at most of the connections.

lovecraftcounty · 30/01/2021 08:43

I think the episodes are a bit too short and would like to see more of the town and visions powers in future.

lovecraftcounty · 30/01/2021 08:45

@LemonViolet hadn't thought of the idea she might be using visions corpse as opposed to making him out of thin air.
That's dark. Haha!

This is what my husband thinks too, but I assumed she was either making him or making someone else be him.

Interesting that they are looking for a missing person, but haven't yet told us who that missing person is.

I loved the introduction of Darcy.

Mrsjayy · 30/01/2021 10:03

Lemonviolet I was saying most of the episode they really should contact an Avenger !

TheDrsDocMartens · 30/01/2021 10:43

Avengers are in a bit of a mess at this point though. Stark is dead, Captain America gone, Black Widow Dead, Thor and Guardians gone. Captain Marvel gone back off?
Banner (not really been around Wanda), Dr Strange (ditto), Harkeye, Antman, Falcon...
No leader really.
Fury just back from dusted & going off world?

TheDrsDocMartens · 30/01/2021 10:44

Spider-Man dusted but not going to ask him for help really.

APurpleSquirrel · 30/01/2021 13:39

I'm intrigued by the other 'characters' in the town - how self-aware are they? Do they know they aren't their real selves? They seem to have some awareness such as when the two neighbours we're talking to Vision after Wanda had the twins & when the dr said you can't leave the town.

LemonViolet · 30/01/2021 13:49

She was standing with Falcon & Bucky at Tony Stark’s funeral, so maybe they saw her last? They have their own series starting in March so maybe we’ll find out then! Hawkeye and War Machine should still around somewhere too.

Yeah the Vision corpse interpretation came from my DP too! Vision does seem independent of Wanda, maybe a reconstruction or something? Wanda’s powers come from the same mind stone that created Vision (and killed him when Thanos took it) so perhaps because of that link she can kinda reboot him and keep him powered up?

Absofruitly · 30/01/2021 15:14

Does anyone think that, with the time jumps in the sit-com styling, and the fast-tracked pregnancy, the twins will age up quickly, just in time to become adult protagonists/antagonists in the next tranche of films in the MCU? If episode 5 is set in the 80s sit-com world (as pics of Kathryn Hahn's character in 80s workout gear seem to imply), the twins could be older kids/teens in that one, maybe ageing up to adults by the end of the series...

Yes these people Smile

Veuvestar · 30/01/2021 16:46

There’s a very strict timetable for Marvel releases.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier was ready to go, but couldn’t be released before Wandavision, so it would seem there is a link

Oooh

LemonViolet · 30/01/2021 19:15

Ooh!

Another nice touch was “why the hexagons??” on the whiteboard. We’ve been wondering that too!!!

lovecraftcounty · 31/01/2021 00:02

@Absofruitly
It's a smart idea
But Aren't those twins going to vanish when the illusion breaks?

Veuvestar · 31/01/2021 00:58

Ask yourself what she’ll do to keep hold of them!

That’s what I wondered

NovemberNameChangeYeahBaby · 31/01/2021 08:37

I think the twins will stay - i know clothes aren't the same but Monica was still in her 70s outfit when she got thrown out , and the piece of the guide rope that crossed the barrier stayed coloured when it got wound back in. So I reckon she's genuinely altering reality and the twins are really real.
