Is anyone else looking forward to this? Once it finishes, The Falcon And The Winter Soldier starts, and then Louise after that. After 2020 being a Marvel-less year I am quite excited for a big dose of MCU escapism.

So many Easter eggs, many of which won't mean anything if you're not familiar with the Comics. I predict devilishly, grim, witches and a rabbit names senior scratchy who isn't keen on swords. WinkWink

Well...

[Avengers Infinity War and Endgame spoilers aplenty on this thread!]

...to be fair, from Wanda's point of view Vision died, then she turned to dust, then pop! a few seconds later it was five years later and she was still battling Thanos. Then it was the funeral, and who knows what counselling may have been offered, or where this show fits into this timeline.

I'm not going to say what I thinks going on but if I'm right phase 4 is going to introduce so many great characters, I can't wait. I'm not a comic person but have been googling like crazy trying to figure out what might be going on here.

Mrsjayy · 19/01/2021 09:53

I really am intrigued. Apparently it cost 25 million an episode to make so it has to be worth it !

HasaDigaEebowai · 19/01/2021 10:59

Without spoiling anything Wanda is crucial to storylines going forward. I have no issue with a show based around her but its just a bit weird to do quite so much retro TV storyline when the target audience is mainly going to be teens and almost exclusively marvel fans who are used to action, sci fi, super powers, clever plot twists and are not typically settling down to enjoy an episode of Bewitched of an evening.

Mrsjayy · 19/01/2021 11:06

Well it's a TV programme about TV programmes I think teenagers and 20 something's will get it.

Mrsjayy · 19/01/2021 11:07

And it's good that it isn't so in your face !

JM10 · 19/01/2021 11:09

I couldn't tell if I liked it or not really, but I do trust that it will be good.

LemonViolet · 19/01/2021 12:33

DP says there’s going to be a Roseanne-themed episode for the 80s Grin

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 19/01/2021 13:12

My issue is my 13 yr old DS has never seen Roseanne/ Bewitched/ Full house, so all the fancy schmanzy ness means nothing to him. It’s wasted on anyone below a certain age. If there is no other content, eg fight scenes/ cool action etc what else does he tune in for?

LemonViolet · 19/01/2021 13:59

Many good things in life are wasted on those below a certain age Grin but these are just standard cultural references aren’t they - I’m guessing most of us posting here didn’t watch I Love Lucy or Bewitched when it was first broadcast in the 50s and 60s. I think there’s enough intrigue involved without recognising every reference. But it’s ok for everyone not to like it! I’m only a MCU fan so didn’t get the relevance of the shape of a helmet in the intro sequence that my DP got because it references a character from the comics.

iklboo · 19/01/2021 14:07

We loved it. The kitsch 'Bewitched' & TV shows of that era nods, Anya from Buffy, strange things going on. Looking forward to the next episode.

Sparticle · 19/01/2021 14:09

I really loved the first two episodes, although I did have to do a lot of googling afterwards to find out what the various references in (including the helmet shape @LemonViolet).

I'm 'only' a MCU fan, I haven't read the comics, but there is enough there for me to really look forward to the next episode without me being totally confused.

I had told DS 12 that he wouldn't be interested in it because of the style/sitcom theme but after I watched it I realised that this could get seriously weird, in a good way, so I just told him the background to the 50s/60s sitcoms and told him to watch out for the weird stuff, which he liked doing. As a PP said, I haven't watched I Love Lucy or Bewitched before but I could still enjoy it.

DanielODonkey · 19/01/2021 20:07

I really enjoyed it. I think any comic book references will go right over my head but I am loving the fact it's got old school sitcom as a starter. I've assumed they are doing a decade per episode? So ep3 will be more like... the Brady bunch?

It's excellent. And I wasn t that bothered about vision and Wanda before.

Comefromaway · 19/01/2021 20:11

I thought it was weird.

Dd on the other hand loved it as it relates to lots of things in the comics and she gasped at the closing credits.

She’s autistic and a Marvel geek.

LemonViolet · 19/01/2021 20:12

I think I fancy a rewatch of eps 1 and 2 if DP is up for it. To look for clues Grin

HolaVida · 19/01/2021 20:15

Yeah, I’d heard it was a new decade each episode.
We found it strangely compelling- nothing at all like we’d expected but have enough respect for Marvel to trust them that it’ll make sense at some point?!

I just luuuuuurve Vision ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

NovemberNameChangeYeahBaby · 20/01/2021 17:01

This is an exceedingly niche thing to be pleased about but I was delighted to see that Captain Marvel made it into the Marvel Studios opening. She wasn't featured in Endgame and wasn't even in the one in her own film - that was dedicated to Stan Lee. I bloody love Captain Marvel.

OP posts:
LemonViolet · 20/01/2021 19:54

Captain Marvel is very linked to Wandavision - there’s a casting giveaway that is common knowledge (apparently!) but don’t know if it would be spoilering to mention it here!

NovemberNameChangeYeahBaby · 20/01/2021 19:56

I had read that bit of casting so I know what you mean, I was going to mention being excited by it but yes, I think its a bit spoilery Grin

Sparticle · 20/01/2021 21:47

I adore Captain Marvel and have also passed my love onto my DD7. I hadn’t noticed that about the opening credits though - I’ll check on Friday ☺️

Sparticle · 20/01/2021 21:48

Btw I saw a new advert for the series tonight and it had lots from the later episodes - looked more like a Scarlet Witch marvel film than a sitcom homage. DS and I were very excited.

LemonViolet · 21/01/2021 15:26

I think the credits are going to change each episode - along with the decade/theme of that episode.

RightOnTheEdge · 21/01/2021 19:25

I was a bit worried about this after reading some of the comments online but I actually really liked it much more than I was expecting.
It's hurting my heart though them trying to live the perfect life and how Wanda will feel when it's shattered Sad

Mrsjayy · 22/01/2021 16:07

Today's was so good I'll just wait till every body has seen it.
