Thurs at 9 Richard returns
Can we figure out how they are going to pull this off given that he had an ice pick in his chest when we last saw himGrin
My guess. It was stated and he has been undercover for the last 3/4 years or however long it has been

I don't want Neville to get his heart broken though. He's such a sweetie.

PrincessScarlett · 05/02/2021 22:01

I'm glad Camille asked Delford why he tried to kill Catherine as it was very unclear. So much for her being involved somehow, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

grandmasterstitch · 05/02/2021 22:02

I'm cringing slightly at the Neville Florence romance

ProbablyLate · 05/02/2021 22:03

I’m a lurker here but have popped up to say. What a massive twist at the end when they announced next weeks episode will be on a Friday Shock. As if 2020 hasn’t been unsettling enough!

Elderflower14 · 05/02/2021 22:04

In the trailer they spooled in an old clip of Richard walking on the beach with his briefcase... That's why I thought he might have a bigger role!

ProbablyLate · 05/02/2021 22:06

I thought he was going to have been involved in the previous case and it would be flashbacks. I think that would have been better. She didn’t seem to think of him that much the series she did with Humphrey

My beloved Chelsea are playing their FA Cup match against Barnsley next Thursday night on BBC1....
Selkiesarereal · 05/02/2021 22:06

I noticed that Florence was wearing a pair of shorts last night that I’ve picked up in the mango sale. She looks stunning, I look like some middle aged cruise ship tourist, not good!

That said, really enjoyed tonight’s programme and so glad Catherine didn’t die.

grandmasterstitch · 05/02/2021 22:12

I was so sure the kid wasn't the pianist's

CrochetOrBust · 05/02/2021 22:29

Maybe they were originally going to go with a different ending? It all felt rather disjointed.

ChoccyJules · 05/02/2021 22:34

Me too, convinced it was going to be something to do with the son who was home from Paris.

From memory, Humphrey had a thing for Camille, is that right? I remember her leaving and him being really sad. I didn’t regularly watch the Richard series, was he also keen on her? He seemed to be indicating that in the scene on the beach. Does that mean she liked him too?!

PrincessScarlett · 05/02/2021 22:55

I always thought it was Humphrey and Camille having feelings and not Richard and Camille.

Does anyone else ever feel sorry for the killers? There's always some back story of them being wronged in the past rather than them just killing for the sake of it.

Ginfordinner · 05/02/2021 23:08

My beloved Barnsley are playing Chelsea next week @Elderflower14 Grin

kazzaD66 · 05/02/2021 23:15

I think Richard did have a bit of a soft spot for Camille in the end. Humphrey definitely did and almost declared his love for her as she was leaving, iirc.

Clawdy · 05/02/2021 23:16

They couldn't have done a flashback to Richard and this case, though, as it was 20 years ago, and he only arrived about ten years ago. Loved seeing Camille back, she is so beautiful, and I always felt she and Richard had a link, I think he secretly loved her, as was hinted tonight.

grandmasterstitch · 05/02/2021 23:25

I think Richard was in love with her. Didn't he leave the show because of his marriage? Maybe if he hadn't gone there would have been something more there. Maybe the Humphrey love story was only because Richard left. I quite fancied Ben Miller in DIP Blush

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 05/02/2021 23:47

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams

She was about a foot shorter than the original Rosie.

In my defence, she was sitting down most of the time. Grin

I thought she looked different, but couldn't actually remember the last time we saw Original Rosie.

I'm jealous that Florence/Joséphine Jobert can wear vest tops and no bra. If I tried that, there's no way I'd be chasing a suspect anywhere!

Ha ha same! The only thing I'd be doing is sporting two black eyes, when they flew up and whacked me in the face 🤣
Ariela · 05/02/2021 23:55

What I think would be nice if they're into bringing detectives back, is Humphrey and wife to come out to celebrate their nth wedding anniversary, and get involved helping solve a murder or two.

I think Richard did — there was that night locked in the geology research centre (?) during a hurricane.
PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 05/02/2021 23:59

Posted too soon.

They had to sleep there and woke up cuddled up and it was very sweet I seem to remember.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 06/02/2021 00:05

Sorry, late at night and a couple of glasses of wine and my posting and syntax go completely to pot!

I enjoyed it though, nice cameo from Richard, and I'm glad Katherine recovered so well. The Commisioner gives good hugs in a crisis! It did feel a bit messy for some reason. Marlon's crush on Camille was funny.

It took me a while to recognise Niamh Cusack (I only realised it was her tonight). I think of her in Heartbeat.

Cherryberrypies · 06/02/2021 11:21

I rewatched the earlier series recently and I think it’s very clearly hinted at that Camille has a soft spot for Richard that could be romantic but he’s clueless. He starts to notice it after a subtle hint from Catherine but Camille is going on a date with someone else so he doesn’t say anything but I think it’s obvious they had feelings for each other. The theme continues right up until he dies.

I think the storyline with Humphrey is to make up for the lost love story with Richard but it felt more forced and not as natural as the connection between Richard and Camille.

corythatwas · 06/02/2021 13:11

I loved the scene where Camille told her mum about how Richard is still with her, and that later scene where he appears next to her, because she is not idealising him or turning him into some kind of dream prince after he's dead; this socially clueless, sometimes grumpy man is what he was and this is how she loved him.

Animum2 · 06/02/2021 15:04

Thought the two episode were really good

Clawdy · 06/02/2021 16:15

corythatwas you summed up that scene perfectly.
