If you had to pick one, which would it be?

I'll start : F-R-I-E-N-D-S

Favourite series? I am struggling to decide between these so will allow myself a top five:

House - best medical drama
Green Wing - best sitcom
Taskmaster - far and away the best panel show
Wolf Hall - amazing!
The Bridge - best subtitled drama.

Almost made it onto my list - Line of Duty and The IT Crowd.

I can’t see it mentioned but I have to go for Modern Family (much as I loved Detectorists too). Children now 19 & 21 so kind of mirrored the characters growing up - and drove to see the Dunphy house in LA and made them run out for a photo.

To Friends fans - I saw someone picking up Friends Lego in Argos yesterday; I presumed it was a new thing but you may already know about it.

PoloNeckKnickers · 27/10/2020 16:59

contactusdeletus · 28/10/2020 01:35

Loving all the ER appreciation on here! It really was a classic, long before the so-called "Golden Age of Telly"

soffiee · 28/10/2020 01:41

Northern exposure for a chilled out watch.
The Bridge.
Longmire.
Fargo, especially the 2nd season.
Anything Ricky Gervais for when I need a bit of cheering up.

thegreylady · 29/10/2020 17:18

The Detectorists
Star Trek the Next Generation
Vera

EspressoX10 · 29/10/2020 18:31

West Wing
Sopranos
Thick of It
The Wire
The Shield

SinkGirl · 29/10/2020 18:50

How did it get to page 4 before someone mentioned The Shield?!

I love The Wire, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul etc but The Shield is something else. Nothing else has had the same impact on me as some of the events... no spoilers though. It was on All4 in its entirety, you should watch it if you haven’t already.

SakiSiam · 29/10/2020 22:11

'Tales For Europe' > 'Singing Ringing Tree.' Fascinated by the series, and this was probably one of the scariest tales for a child. I realise I'm going back a [very] long time, but it's probably influenced me loving horror films now.

Timeforatincture · 29/10/2020 22:22

In no particular order...

Spooks
Friday Night Dinner
Dinnerladies
Edge of Darkness
House
Survivors (1970s)
The Changes (1970s kids)
Dr Who
Basil Brush!

Rafflesway · 29/10/2020 22:30

Seriously showing my age here but there are 3 which really stuck out for me, all from many years ago:

A family at war
Knots Landing
Flamingo Road

Egghead68 · 29/10/2020 23:26

If we are going back, Dallas and Dynasty.

usernamewastaken · 29/10/2020 23:46

This Is Us

thunderandsunshine01 · 30/10/2020 00:08

Friends, Gavin and Stacey or The Inbetweeners

Dita73 · 30/10/2020 03:44

Father Ted. It was brilliant. Actually saved my life once. Only Fools and Horses is my comfort tv. I put it on and usually ignore it but feel better that it’s on

Shosha1 · 30/10/2020 07:13

Outlander. As a huge fan of the books I was a bit apprehensive when I heard it was to be made. Brilliant. Love the casting and the sets and costumes are wonderful.

EspressoX10 · 30/10/2020 14:19

SinkGirl I agree, "The Shield" is amazing.

I often sing its praises; it's so underrated in the UK.

Few series have such three dimensional characters and the story arcs are genius.

Some seriously shocking/gritty scenes, but not gratuitous.

VioletSunset · 30/10/2020 14:29

Gotham

Or

The Walking dead

cushioncovers · 31/10/2020 22:00

Oh and Modern family
