dinnerladies.

It is sublime. Also adored Fleabag.

ShowOfHands · 22/10/2020 17:27

@chrislilleyswig

Of all time probably the Jennifer Ehle version of Pride and Prejudice

Also the Crow Road which has stuck in my mind although it's about 25 years since it was on.

@chrislilleyswig I loved The Crow Road. Pride and Prejudice I will never tire of watching either (BBC version obvs).
Popcornismandatory · 22/10/2020 17:33

Ah yes Ally McBeal and Moonlighting!

Inextremis · 22/10/2020 17:49

@devildeepbluesea

Robin of Sherwood
I'm with you on that - but only while Michael Praed was in it - Jason Connery was not the same!
sunnyday1976 · 22/10/2020 18:01

@Sitdowncupoftea I did. The one Dvd boxset I can watch over and over and over again!

BeBraveAndBeKind · 22/10/2020 18:06

The Detectorists. It's sublime. Not a wasted moment just the most beautiful writing and acting.

peachgreen · 22/10/2020 19:52

The Detectorists is so wonderful @BeBraveAndBeKind, you're absolutely right. Not sure I could ever watch it again as we watched it all in the intense weeks after DD's birth and I think the memories it would bring back would be too painfully nostalgic. Even the (beautiful) theme music makes me incredibly emotional!

peachgreen · 22/10/2020 19:57

If I ever got a tattoo it would be the aestel from Detectorists. It reminds me of so many things I love - history, the English countryside, that sort of timeless end of summer start of autumn period - as well as DD. The lyrics of the theme tune have always made me think of DD - "will you search through the lonely earth for me, climb through briar and bramble, I'll be your treasure, I'm waiting for you" etc.

RickOShay · 22/10/2020 19:59

Breaking Bad
Best thing I’ve ever watched on telly

Kodama361 · 22/10/2020 20:04

American Horror Story or Friends

Lalalatte · 22/10/2020 20:06

The Detectorists are great too. The music was by Johnny Flynn whose album Country Mile is really worth a listen.

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 22/10/2020 20:07

West Wing. Have watched all the way through 3 times.

Also Greys Anatomy, Boston Legal, plus basically any British murder mystery series (Morse Marple Midsomer Poirot Foyle etc etc all about eleventy billion times)

Kidneybingo · 22/10/2020 20:09

I'm going with Line of Duty, series 2 and 3, and North and South.

BeBraveAndBeKind · 22/10/2020 20:23

@peachgreen Yes, the theme music is lovely. We watched it again recently but this time with our DSs who are 17 & 18 and they loved it too. I was just watching their faces at all the key moments. It's really very special and made more so by the small number of episodes.

lazylinguist · 22/10/2020 20:25

Yes the Detectorists was amazing, and I love the song too.

Mumbum2011 · 22/10/2020 20:29

So many! Top 5

Line of duty
Kingdom
This is us
Private practice
The Shield

Untangled87 · 22/10/2020 20:39

Favourite: One Foot In The Grave

Runners up: Father Ted, Friends, The IT Crowd, Keeping Up Appearances, Fawlty Towers

Mine are all sitcoms, because I’ll watch my favourites literally a hundred times over and not get tired. Whereas I never really get the urge to re-watch my favourite dramas (e.g. Breaking Bad or The Bridge), no matter how amazing they were.

Lemming20 · 22/10/2020 20:40

Line of duty, Friends, Bodies (early work of the guy who did Line of duty - maybe don’t watch it you are planning kids any time soon), Breaking Bad and Black Mirror

Also currently watching and loving Mad Men

JamieLeeCurtains · 22/10/2020 20:41

Yes, Father Ted!

And I used to love The Comic Strip Presents ...

ItsLikeSputnik · 22/10/2020 20:44

The West Wing. There’s an episode to suit any and every one of my moods. I think I’ve watched the whole thing about 7 times now.

Downton57 · 22/10/2020 20:55

30 Something was great, back in the day. Loved The Durrells too.

Mytholmroyd · 23/10/2020 15:33

Based on the number of times I have re-watched it has to be Outlander.

Londonmummy66 · 23/10/2020 15:39

Has to be the weekly dose of Colin Firth in the BBC's Pride and Prejudice

lazylinguist · 23/10/2020 15:51

I must admit I've never quite understood the attraction of Colin Firth, even in Pride and Prejudice. I always though he looked like a bit of a petulant, slightly chubby-faced bore. Grin I know I'm probably in a minority there though!
