Ive just started to catch 30 Rock, i never saw it the first time. It does tickle me. I still think that Frasier was just perfect though. I wonder what they are doing now?

Frasier is one of my comfort blanket shows. Friends is another. Crap day, put my feet up and don my comfort blanket. Grin

Fraser is very good, but no, it's not the best US sitcom. Brooklyn 99 is.

And Modern Family can be really funny, but its not a patch on The Middle.

Brooklyn 99 is as funny as TBBT which isn’t funny at all, and TBBT is so damn overrated, I find lots of American sitcoms to have primary type humour, the humour of us Brits is the best world wise.

I always used to think that the series Friends was more directed at us Brits in terms of humour because I just don’t think the Americans really ‘get’ our humour and I think that Friends was probably move popular in the UK than in the US.

Inappropriatefemale · 24/08/2020 20:44

Also Two and a Half Men, and all those type shows are really shit, Americans just don’t have a clue about what’s funny at all, and both the Big Bang theory and 2.4 men are very primary humour, at least we finally have something better than the yanks,,,al long last Grin

emmetgirl · 24/08/2020 20:45

Hmmm, I think it's Seinfeld but Frasier is a close second.

Inappropriatefemale · 24/08/2020 20:55

When was Seinfeld on @emmetgirl? It’s just I think I was in my late teens when it used to be on and I was always out back then so I key men m Ned

emmetgirl · 24/08/2020 20:58

@Inappropriatefemale it's really old now, it started in the early/mid 90s I believe! I was already in my 20s Hmm

ClinkyMonkey · 25/08/2020 09:16

I loved 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' and 'Mash'. To be fair, I probably haven't watched enough 'Frasier' to make comparisons. My friend says it's her 'go to' comfort telly when she's feeling a bit low.

areyoubeingserviced · 25/08/2020 13:30

I love Frasier- I found the complex relationship between the father and his son’s fascinating. They were intellectually superior to their father, but would constantly try to impress him.
He was intimidated but at the same time proud of their intellect

Also liked King of Queens which I found particularly funny . I loved the fact that the main characters were not actually nice people and therefore weren’t the usual fluffy comedic characters

areyoubeingserviced · 25/08/2020 13:31

Didn’t like Friends though

TheMostHappy · 25/08/2020 13:33

Nope it's pretty boring imho Blush

What?! How can you not?! I still absolutely laugh at it just as much as I did back when I watched the episodes for the first time! I actually cried when in 2004 Friends weren’t making anymore shows Blush

I remember the day like it was yesterday, my boyfriend was at work and I worked night shift so was home alone during the day and T4 -anyone remember this channel 4 show?- played Friends all day long and it was deffo the end of an era! It’s one of the most popular American sitcoms of all time imo and I would say at least in the top 3, all the characters were likeable and relatable, and I am convinced the humour was more directed at us Brits than the Americans for some reason.

RomeoLikedCapuletGirls · 25/08/2020 14:35

No, FRIENDS is.

MissDollyMix · 25/08/2020 14:49

I absolutely love love love Frasier. It never grows old. Agree with others re Daphne’s family though. Cringe!!

poorbuthappy · 25/08/2020 14:57

Have binge all The Middle during lockdown with the whole family brilliant.
Love Frasier, used to love Everybody Loves Raymond but I now can't get away from how much of a lazy twat Raymond is which spoils it somewhat.
Much prefer Young Sheldon to TBBT

I have just never ever gotten the hype about TBBT, it was a load of shit and goes to show that the supposed ‘sitcom King’ (can’t mind his name) who did 2.5 Men as well, has a really shitty and immature type of humour and it makes you think that most Americans must have shitty senses of humour too but obviously that’s just not true as we wouldn’t all be here talking about Friends, Frasier, Seinfeld etc etc, I maybe being biased but British humour is the absolute best in the worldGrin
Inappropriatefemale · 25/08/2020 15:04

...oh and I cannot believe how much the 3 big stars of TBBT actually made just from that shitty show, and the canned laughter was just annoying...what sorts of ppl do you think watch and find TBBT funny?!

QuiQuaiQuod · 25/08/2020 21:28

Frasier, MAS*H, friends, and more...

Frasier good for the most part but I'd rather they canned it when Daphne and Niles got married. Can't stand Ronnie.

But...LOVE the comedy of errors/greek tragedies that occur in Frasier.

Question...Why does more 4 skip so many episodes? I look forward to the nect one, then they show 5 episodes later! Its so bloody annoying.

I watch the afternoon one at 3pm. Anyone know why they do that?

David Hyde-Pierce and Davis Shwimmer have perfect comic timing.
And Kelsey Grammer with his Shakesperian tradegy 'woe is me' is brilliant. ''CAM WIIIINSTONN!''

MikeFromSpaced · 25/08/2020 22:11

Definitely. I love it!

KatherineJaneway · 25/08/2020 22:17

David Hyde-Pierce almost steals the show.

IntermittentParps · 02/09/2020 15:16

Frasier is hands down the best.

Perfect ensemble casting and acting (RIP John Mahoney) Sad. The dog (RIP the dog) Sad. The beautiful balance of rapier verbal wit and full-on farce, people literally coming out of cupboards.

Niles when Maris was pregnant and he had a sympathy belly with a bag of flour in it: 'I actually had a dream my flour sack was abducted and the kidnapper started sending me muffins in the mail.' Grin

That's actually the best line anyone has ever written or delivered, ever.

SerenDippitty · 02/09/2020 17:59

I watched it again recently and now I'm late 50s I find myself looking at Frasier's dad and thinking mmm yes I would. I find myself looking at Dr McCoy in Star Trek like that too - he had the bluest eyes I've ever seen!

SerenDippitty · 02/09/2020 18:01

Agree it was a great line but sorry to nitpick, Maris was never pregnant . Niles was trying to decide if he was ready for fatherhood or not by carrying a bag of flour around with him and protecting it from harm.

IntermittentParps · 03/09/2020 14:49

SerenDippitty, OK fine.
