Ive just started to catch 30 Rock, i never saw it the first time. It does tickle me. I still think that Frasier was just perfect though. I wonder what they are doing now?

Yup, Frasier utterly brilliant up to the point Daphne's family arrived.

Also love Modern Family.

Deadringer · 09/08/2020 21:37

Frasier was amazing, am watching the reruns (again) at the moment. I measure every other sit com by it.

I'm watching Frasier in the morning (I can't face the news at the moment). I find it quite funny, but also quite repetative. Beautiful woman fancies Fraisier (why?), he fucks it up. Or, people get the wrong end of the stick, and others don't put them right, why?

Also, the actor who plays Miles, is a much, much better than the actor who plays Frasier.

Alabamawhirly1 · 09/08/2020 21:53

No it's shit.

It's always sunny in Philidelphia is the best us comedy ever made.

onedaysoonish · 09/08/2020 21:56

Agree - for me it's the best comedy of all time. I watch it from the beginning all the way through every year. It's perfect!

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 09/08/2020 21:56

I love the one where they go to the exclusive spa but keep wanting it to be more exclusive. Also the one with the dead seal on the beach. I love Frasier!

Could I also vote for Everbody Loves Raymond though. Always happy to watch that over and over in the morning. My favorites are when they go to Italy, the one where Raymond takes the janitor's son to the game (my previous username was TheFlyingFauxPas) and the one where nobody will unpack the suitcase.

Ginfordinner · 09/08/2020 22:01

I love Frasier. It hasn't dated the way so many comedies have.

Bella444 · 09/08/2020 22:04

@Dontfuckingsaycheese agree! But also love Frasier.

cheekychopsticks · 09/08/2020 22:07

Love love love Frasier

Prettybluepigeons · 09/08/2020 22:07

God I LOVE Frasier.
I live the valentine scary one where Niles is ironing his trousers and sets fire to the sofa.Grin

The writing is just brilliant and the physical comedy....just lovely.

I've been watching the golden girls recently and that was wonderful. Laugh out loud funny every episode.

JemimaShore · 09/08/2020 22:08

It's certainly up there. I love it.

CoolShoeshine · 09/08/2020 22:09

Love Frasier- such a treat on a weekend morning to not have to rush to get to work and sit and watch it with a cuppa. Blissful. Great cast

TinyMetalBirds · 09/08/2020 22:09

No. It’s OK but a bit meh. Parks and Rec, Brooklyn 99, The Office, much funnier. I have just thought of MASH as well, going back a bit. Does What We Do In The Shadows count as a US comedy? It’s set in the US.

BestIsWest · 09/08/2020 22:09

Yes. Apart from Daphne’s family. Roz is my favourite.

nandaandm · 09/08/2020 22:29

It was easy to watch but never made me laugh out loud.

My Favourites are

Brooklyn 99
Modern Family
30 Rock
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Great News.

Goslowlysideways · 09/08/2020 22:31

I love The Middle.

Goodoldfashionedploverboy · 10/08/2020 03:32

Love it so much. All the cast members are brilliant. Love Niles and Lilith especially. Made me want an Eames chair in my teens! (I now have one.)

Other US greats : Seinfeld, Cheers, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and more recently The Kominsky Method.

Icantreachthepretzels · 10/08/2020 03:45

US sitcoms always go downhill in later seasons because they just make so many of them

agreed- there is little on television worse than the 9th season of Roseanne. Season 8 was extremely hit and miss as well - with more misses than hits. It was on a downward trajectory by season 7 - but no one ever seems to know when to stop with T. V shows, they seem to just keep going until they stop making money thus ruining their own legacies by continuing long past its expiration date.

I have just thought of MASH as well, going back a bit

I love MASH - and it hurts me to say this, but Hawkeye is such a sleaze (and Trapper no better). Considering how forward and liberal it was in so many ways ... the continual sexual assaults on Margaret and the objectification of all the nurses just don't really stand up to rewatches.

I haven't seen Frasier in so long, so I didn't know how well it stands up but I do remember it being absolutely sublime. Niles is the best, I love it when ever I seen David Hyde Pierce in anything else because I just see Niles. I particularly like the Simpsons episodes where he plays Sideshow Bob's (voiced by Frasier - of course) brother.

eaglejulesk · 10/08/2020 04:06

Yes, yes, yes! I've just watched Frasier all the way through, and as soon as I finished I started all over again. Loving it.

eaglejulesk · 10/08/2020 04:12

I do agree with some pps though - I could do without Daphne's family.

Ritascornershop · 10/08/2020 04:54

@Lottapianos Schitts Creek is great Canadian tv, not US.

For me Frasier ties with 30 Rock with Modern Family close behind. 30 Rock is so layered, there’s a lot of writing where you replay it because it’s so weird and clever.

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 10/08/2020 04:54

Hard no from me.

Mrstwiddle · 10/08/2020 05:21

It’s good, but not as good as “3rd Rock from the Sun” - have lost count of how many times I’ve re-watched the series over the years, and still find it hilarious.

DianaT1969 · 10/08/2020 05:33

It is the best.
Niall and Roz are my favourite characters.
I also like the first seasons of Modern Family.
30 Rock
Will & Grace
The Office
Just watching Arrested Development for the first time now. Haven't seen Parks & Recreation or Schitt's Creek yet.

AlternativePerspective · 10/08/2020 05:43

Yes. I watch the whole lot from start to finish regularly.

I had also heard rumours of a comeback but these have been doing the rounds for a few years now, and I can’t see how it would be possible.

Frasier moved to Chicago, (well we assume he did,) Niles and Dafney had the baby, but all the characters would be apart, and John Mahoney AKA MArtin died a couple of years ago.
