Ive just started to catch 30 Rock, i never saw it the first time. It does tickle me. I still think that Frasier was just perfect though. I wonder what they are doing now?

Seinfeld is.

@Prettybluepigeons

Based on this thread, I've started watching 30rock. Not a patch on frasier. I've smiled a little. Frasier is laugh out loud funny every episode
variety.com/lists/30-rock-best-episodes-ranking/ i worked my way through some of these I found its the best way and I already knew the background. I felt the same about Parks and Recreation its a certain humour.

Its true there was never a dud episode of Frasier.

Yes, it was total class. It was a French Farce set to every day life.

The dance between Niles and Daphne, the scene where Niles irons his trousers and ends up setting fire to the ironing board.

Niles looking after the sack of flour.

I actually think Niles was the real star.

Marty was lovely too, and Eddie!

PamDenick · 11/08/2020 01:08

For me, the best US comedy ever has got to be Malcolm in the Middle.

And yes to a great ending.

Germolenequeen · 11/08/2020 01:14

Frasier, minus Daphne's family, sublime.

This 100%

Niles was def the best character IMO - the ironing board as previously mentioned was hysterical - went downhill after Daphne and he got together unfortunately 😕

@Mrstwiddle

It’s good, but not as good as “3rd Rock from the Sun” - have lost count of how many times I’ve re-watched the series over the years, and still find it hilarious.
Same here! We're currently rewatching the complete box set for the umpteenth time.

Also love Frasier. DH and I used to be so excited when a new season started.

MWestie · 11/08/2020 01:52

Another Friends/Frasier on a Friday fan here.
Just love it and for me Niles steals the show.
Some fantastic lines...Copernicus called and you are not the centre of the universe!

Deadringer · 11/08/2020 02:15

Niles and Roz are my favourites.

eaglejulesk · 11/08/2020 05:48

I just watched the one where the radio station did a half hour fright night programme, 'nightmare inn'. Its an absolute riot, with Gill's 'romping with school chums in Surrey' speech. Just hilarious!

I re-watched that one last week, and laughed so much I watched it again immediately - twice - and found it just as funny each time.

mrsmuddlepies · 11/08/2020 06:33

Veep, Veep, Veep! I laughed out loud all the way through. So funny and Julia Louise Dreyfus is just brilliant.

KatherineJaneway · 11/08/2020 06:34

Yes, never fails to make me laugh.

I love Niles.

Teal99 · 11/08/2020 14:46

Another Niles fan. Frasier never dates, the writing, the acting, the ensemble cast. Followed swiftly by Cheers. Used to love Sam Malone.

TheKarenWhoKnocks · 11/08/2020 15:00

Agree that David Hyde pierce is amazing at physical comedy.

My favourite series are when they've all hit their stride and are working really well as an ensemble, before it got too bogged down in the Niles/Daphne thing. There's such a great energy until then.

Favourite episodes: Gil romping through Surrey, Niles and the ironing board, the one where they're in the ski lodge ("I'm not gay, Guy" 😀), the dead perfumed seal in the nightdress and my absolute tip top favourite, the one where Daphne's ex boyfriend turns up, Daphne pretends to be married which sets off an entire chain of lies with everyone pretending to be someone they're not, and Martin joins in, just for the sheer hell of it, and tells the ex that he used to be an astronaut.

Inappropriatefemale · 11/08/2020 15:03

Nah Friends is the best American sitcom ever and the fact the reruns are still on today, says it all, nothing will ever come close to this, well Frasier a close second perhaps.

Inappropriatefemale · 11/08/2020 15:03

Niles was the funniest in Frasier, his sarcasm was hilarious.

SinkGirl · 11/08/2020 15:08

Frasier
30 Rock
US Office
Arrested Development

The Good Place was promising for S1-2 but 3 and 4 were not great

SinkGirl · 11/08/2020 15:09

Just reminded me of the Frasier face swap... such brilliant casting!

Is Frasier the best US comedy ever?
Rockbird · 11/08/2020 15:10

Not even close. The Golden Girls is so much better. And Roseanne in the early days.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 11/08/2020 15:10

MASH.

Deadringer · 11/08/2020 15:57

Ah i loved the golden girls too, and MASH, still rate Frasier most highly though.

KatherineJaneway · 11/08/2020 16:28

Funnily enough Frasier was on a TV at the gym today. There was no sound just the visual and I kept getting distracted from what I was watching on iPad.

JustanotherTuesday · 11/08/2020 16:46

Golden Girls was brilliant, I liked Cheers and The Middle as well.

VodselForDinner · 11/08/2020 19:05

Where’s everyone watching The Golden Girls?

I love it but haven’t seen it on tv in ages.

tararabumdeay · 11/08/2020 19:27

Fraisier is generally so tightly structured, scripted and acted it's a joy; they very rarely drop the ball. Unfortunately, and I agree with PPs the cockney Daphne family/friends are grating and that's a definite production problem.

There are, however, amazing moments. This morning, for example, the redesign of the radio station episode ended with a Latino rendition of 'Scrambled Eggs'.

For all those mentioning M*H - do you remember 'Soap'? Billy Chrystal was outstanding!
