Anyone watching? The Sydney couple are never going to last. She’s so annoying, surely just on it to get on tv??

Have their ever been a couple from these shows that have stayed married?

Just binged the first five episodes:

Andrew and Vanessa: she’s ok but too loud and almost compulsive in her speaking. He’s very sweet but you can see from his mum that he’s been brought up in a quiet, low-key environment. Won’t last in the real world, and she will end it even though really it should be mutual.

John and Debbie: she’s dreadful and a fantasist, which is clearly why she’s still single at ‘53’ 🤣. He’s a good bloke and needs a down to earth Sheila who likes a laugh and a beer.

Jonathan and Cheryl: I think he was asked to ham up the arrogance for the cameras, I think actually he’s quite insecure and was really hurt by her rejection. She thinks she knows it all, and was actually talking patronising bullshit to John and Debbie at the dinner party. Clearly she thinks oldies should just be grateful for anyone! She’s got a lot to learn about life.

Nadia and surprised face man: honestly can’t remember his name, horse racing guy. Looks like a china doll. He’s lovely and clearly desperate for a life partner, but he’ll turn himself in to a doormat for the fussy Nadia, who clearly fancies herself more than him.

Cowboy hat man and miner woman: both a bit desperate but a good match.

Sharon and Nick: he got too pissed at the dinner party and I think she was a bit put off. He’s very judgemental too. She could do better I think. His earrings are awful too. Couldn’t understand why her twin was jealous when she got gorgeous Jesse.

Michelle and Jesse: he’s very handsome but a bit wet and fancies Michelle too much. She knows it and is feeling the pressure to reciprocate. Won’t last. She’s very fussy and clearly more insecure than Sharon too.

Lauren and Andrew: he is just wonderful, the best man by miles. Was upsetting to see him so dejected, I felt like storming in to a 2017 TV and telling him he’ll have women queueing up after this. She was a total piss-head, I noticed it at the hen party and the wedding. She even seemed drunk at the reconciliation session. He’s better off out.

Alene and Chris: I love her and I’m sad they’ve given her this man. He should be thanking his lucky stars and cutting that terrible curly skullet off immediately. I know he’s shy and insecure and trying to compensate with silly humour, but he needs to quit the dad dancing and stupid facial expressions, cut that dreadful Henry from Neighbours circa 1988 hair and start showing her he’s a serious contender. She would’ve been better with Abandoned Andrew (Abandrew 🤣), both caring professionals with a good sense of fun.

Michael and Scarlett: he is clearly a control freak narcissist and the ‘experts’ should be working on getting Scarlett the hell away from him before he can do lasting damage. She looked scared and gaslighted at the dinner party. He clearly fucked and chucked her too, so he’s a total shitbag. LOL at ‘MALE stripper’... calm down mate, we heard you the first time.

Is that everyone?! After watching 5hrs straight I feel like I know them better than the crappy experts 😆

WorryWartOne · 08/07/2020 16:46

*Alene and Simon I mean. Is surprised face man Chris maybe.

KurriKawari · 08/07/2020 17:11

Don't know what Nadia is doing on the show.

Johnathan I am sure I have seen on another reality show but dont want to google in case I get spoilers!

bibliomania · 08/07/2020 17:37

Like your analysis, Worry.. I actually found Michael's desperation to control the impression they were making at the party quite scay. Scarlett was being childish, but it felt to me like she was baiting someone who it's not safe to bait.

waterlego · 08/07/2020 17:53

surprised face man: honestly can’t remember his name, horse racing guy. Looks like a china doll

😆😆😆😆

waterlego · 08/07/2020 17:55

Agree biblio. He is menacing. At one point in the honeymoon she told him she was fake and his stance and face completely changed- like there was instant aggression there, just beneath the surface. Urgh.

waterlego · 08/07/2020 17:56

She told him he was fake, that should say.

bibliomania · 08/07/2020 18:00

Yup, I saw that change too, water.

Momniscient · 08/07/2020 18:36

Excellent analyses here. I love "Abandrew". That's one name I won't forget now!

So we have Abandrew and Menacing Michael... are there more alliterative descripto-names? Shaggy Simon?

ginandgingers92 · 08/07/2020 19:11

Watching the dinner party ep; Michael is giving me all those 'controlling' red flags

ginandgingers92 · 08/07/2020 19:16

Hi by the way! 👋🏼 I'm addicted 🙈

bibliomania · 08/07/2020 20:52

Phew, relieved at Scarlett's escape. The aggression really came out in how Michael challenged the experts (not that I massively respect their expertise, but they handlerh him okay).

Knackerelli · 08/07/2020 21:03

I really didn’t like Michael and agree that he had control and anger issues. Scarlett though is such a fluffy princess. Rolling her eyes, pouting and ‘oh I love you but not as much as my credit card’ 🤮🤮🤮 I’m such a free spirit, no, you’re an immature idiot.

Egghead68 · 08/07/2020 21:07

If Debbie’s 53 she’s had a very hard life (or been a heavy smoker or sun worshipper).
Loving the dinner parties!

bibliomania · 08/07/2020 21:11

Oh, I'm not an admirer of Scarlett, either. She was silly, while he felt dangerous.

bibliomania · 08/07/2020 21:13

I agree Debbie hasn't protected her skin against the sun.

Cruddles · 08/07/2020 21:24

If Debbie’s 53 she’s had a very hard life (or been a heavy smoker or sun worshipper).

Not an usual sight in Australia, someone who probably had a mega tan in their 20s paying for it in their older age

Italiangreyhound · 08/07/2020 22:11

Honeyroar "Which couple had the ex at the wedding? I can’t remember."

Jonathan had an ex at his eceptin who pretended to be his little sister. Very weird.

waterlego I think Jonathan didn't feel attracted to her. I think he likes blondes.

1984andout "I think the idea of putting her with John was absolutely stupid. She clearly wanted a Polynesian guy. She said it so many times!"

I feel it was very cruel and clearly a receipie for disater.

The commitment ceremony is a terrible idea, very cruel.

Italiangreyhound · 08/07/2020 22:14

a recipe for disaster!

Anthony is very cocky, I think.

PurplePansy05 · 08/07/2020 22:14

Where did they find someone like Debbie? It's like she hibernated for the last 50 years, the stuff she comes up with.

I agree about Scarlett, Michael is a control freak focused on his image, but she is a bit unhinged like her mother and not a girls' girl. Cheryl may not be everyone's cup of tea, but she didn't deserve to be treated this way by Jonathan or Scarlett.

Nadia is someone that would make me anxious all the time if I had to be around her. She's so boring as well.

Honeyroar · 08/07/2020 22:19

Poor John finding out he has to spend another week with Debbie! And living with her.

OP posts:
LarkDescending · 08/07/2020 22:48

John looked gutted! Maybe Debbie wanted another week on TV to reel in a few Polynesian islanders.

Italiangreyhound · 08/07/2020 22:58

I know, poor John. I feel for him.

To be fair to Jonathan when Andrew, who was jilted at alter, arrived and told his story Cheryl said something like 'Pick me'.

I think she was joking but she seemed quite impressed.

I must admit I cannot believe how the 'experts' have stuffed up SOOOOOO badly with Jonathan and Cheryl, Michael and Scarlet and most of all John and Debbie.

LarkDescending · 08/07/2020 23:07

I do think it is hilarious how the “experts” continue to insist some of these couples are compatible despite the clear evidence that they can’t stand to be in each other’s company.

1984andout · 09/07/2020 00:33

Blimey. I'm resisting googling. It's very heavily edited isn't it?

Scarlett and Jonathan seemed to be pro guns and pro trump at the dinner party but to suddenly be declaring the fact that they should have been matched… well I did not see that coming!
