Anyone watching? The Sydney couple are never going to last. She’s so annoying, surely just on it to get on tv??

Have their ever been a couple from these shows that have stayed married?

@Honeyroar I agree actually. I think the whole thing is really strange. I’ve read four different reasons that she’s given for leaving - some are more understandable than others! I’d love to know what was going through her head.

This dinner party is pure drama. I think Deborah is too used to being alone and having her own life. I agree that Alene and Simon are adorable Smile

waterlego · 07/07/2020 21:45

I’m just watching the honeymoon episode and wondering why Michael has to say ‘male stripper’ every time he talks about his job. Surely it’s not necessary to say ‘male’ every time. I mean, we can all tell what sex he is 😆

Spoiler alert: I’ve read that Andrew rebounded from Lauren and went on to have a relationship with one of the other brides from the series.

PurplePansy05 · 07/07/2020 22:07

Michael is extremely vain and manipulative. Scarlett is ditsy, immature and vengeful. As much as he's not a nice guy and doesn't treat her right, she shouldn't be disclosing his secrets to others or run to another woman's partner straight away. She's not to be trusted.

PurplePansy05 · 07/07/2020 22:08

There's so much drama in this series, I don't even know where to start with the rest of them!

Honeyroar · 07/07/2020 22:24

Scarlett is like Cheryl. Young and silly, haven’t had much life experience and think they have. Add a shitload of wine and they’re too much! Micheal was never going to work with anyone, I don’t know why they chose him. To be honest he’s actually been better than I expected! But I don’t know why he keeps leading her on kissing and caressing her.

Please no spoilers.

KurriKawari 'Debbie is tiresome and I feel for John, she is too uptight.' I totally agree and also think she is being very dishonest when she said she was very honest. She has told him so many negative things.

"I find Scarlett and Andrew difficult to watch, it's an uncomfortable relationship." Who do you mean, Scarlet and Micheal (the male stripper) or the guy called Andrew who is with Vanessa?

Italiangreyhound · 07/07/2020 22:28

waterlego "I’m just watching the honeymoon episode and wondering why Michael has to say ‘male stripper’ every time he talks about his job. Surely it’s not necessary to say ‘male’ every time."

I think it is because the perception of male and female strippers is very different and also most strippers are female, like most nurses, but men may describe themselves as a 'ale nurse'.

Italiangreyhound · 07/07/2020 22:31

I think the 'experts' are the real shockers, they knew exactly what would happen when they shrew the newly weds in with a load of alcohol.

I'm sorry for Nick, he is drinking too much (or was back in 2017 at that dinner party) and I think it will put Vanessa off, Michelle looked disapprovingly at him!

(I love that Michelle and Jesse are getting on better but didn't he sweat a lot!)

Honeyroar · 07/07/2020 22:34

Debbie was terrible. Every time he suggested he moved out or that they weren’t working she’d say “why would you say that? I think we’re ok, you just need to stop smoking, stop snoring, clean the bathroom, do everything I want bla bla bla..but I think I’ve tried very hard and it’s nothing to do with me if it doesn’t work!”

OP posts:
LarkDescending · 07/07/2020 22:42

Poor Andy with Vanessa isn’t allowed to get a word in edgeways! He might have hidden depths if she gave him half a chance.

Michael is quite controlling and all about his own image. I think he and Scarlett were put together to be a deliberately disastrous match.

The horsey smooching looked self-conscious and fake.

LarkDescending · 07/07/2020 22:44

Unbelievably there are apparently even more couples in the later series - 11 or 12 couples apiece!

Italiangreyhound · 07/07/2020 22:56

The drop out rate is so high they need many.

Honesty moment, would you go on Th at show?

Me now, 59 something, not great in. bikini, -no.

Me at 31 - maybe. Especially the Aussie one as I hear they are not really married.

waterlego · 07/07/2020 23:18

I get that Italiangreyhound, but it just seems unnecessary when we can see the sex of the person talking! I think it’s a shame that men feel they have to describe themselves as ‘male nurses’ as it just perpetuates the idea that a male nurse is an odd or unusual thing. (They may be unusual but shouldn’t be perceived as odd, of course).

Italiangreyhound · 07/07/2020 23:35

waterlego but a male stripper is perceived as different to a female stripper, IMHO. It may not be right but if they had included a female stripper in the show I think there would be uproar. A male stripper is a bit more of a comedy feature, IMHO.

KurriKawari · 08/07/2020 01:48

@Italiangreyhound I meant Scarlett and Michael, too many couples :)

Remember when Debbie said in her vows I will "cook for you and do your laundry"? I feel for John's lovely daughters, what a wasted opportunity for the show to set him up with someone nicer and show an older couple finding love.

I also like the Army guy and the Italian guy- not sure they are right for each other but are both lovely.

I wish the psychologists would stop pretending it's an experiment. The ex at the wedding? The "honeymoon questions" designed to cause issues?

Cruddles · 08/07/2020 06:53

My mum in Australia said she had to stop watching later series as the people on it were just getting ridiculous. So you think this series is mad, it only gets madder

Italiangreyhound · 08/07/2020 09:24

Yes, agree you can't someone up with a stripper and pretend it's a social experiment!

Honeyroar · 08/07/2020 09:55

Which couple had the ex at the wedding? I can’t remember.

OP posts:
Cruddles · 08/07/2020 09:59

Cheryl and Mr Up Himself (can't remember his name)

Honeyroar · 08/07/2020 10:03

Oh right. Thanks.

OP posts:
LarkDescending · 08/07/2020 10:14

@KurriKawari who are “the Army guy and the Italian guy”?

waterlego · 08/07/2020 10:16

Mr Up Himself = Johnathan.

I really, really dislike him. Took an instant dislike when they were first shown at the stag and hen gatherings as he was so brash, so pleased with himself, boasted about being unfaithful to women etc. Seemed to see himself as an Alpha male. He seemed keen on Cheryl and then the moment she let on that she wasn’t attracted to him (which, for all her faults, I thought she did gently and with good humour), he got the hump and has been seething ever since. He seems so angry and the sort of man that would make very wary.

Though when Cheryl flounced off and he was left sitting on the sofa humming nonchalantly, I got a strong David Brent vibe.

Honeyroar · 08/07/2020 10:21

I never saw the stag and hen dos. It will do him good to be rejected a bit then. I didn’t like him at the wedding much but I don’t like Cheryl either, so can’t really care about either of them!

OP posts:
1984andout · 08/07/2020 12:44

Jonathan at the dinner party reminded me of an ex with the stonewalling and 'I'm not doing anything wrong' act.

Debbie is terribly immature. My DD asked if she was Carol Baskin and now I can't under it!

I think the idea of putting her with John was absolutely stupid. She clearly wanted a Polynesian guy. She said it so many times!

Also 'he'd give up smoking for the right woman'. Bullshit. Everyone knows how hard that is, and what a responsibility to put on the wife's shoulders (does he live me enough...). If it was that easy nobody in couples would smoke!

BedknobsNoBroomsticks · 08/07/2020 16:33

Just caught up with all episodes up to last night. Forgot it was on so I binge watched it.

Debbie is nuts. She is the one with the problem yet she is making out like it is all John's fault.

Jonathan (?) the one with Cheryl is a knob. From his introduction video he comes across as thinking that he is some big hot shot and everyone should fawn over him.

Michael was looking for a shag. Under 60kg and small ear lobes!
