Anyone watching? The Sydney couple are never going to last. She’s so annoying, surely just on it to get on tv??

Have their ever been a couple from these shows that have stayed married?

I think you are right.

1984andout · 14/07/2020 08:46

Yes Jesse and Nick only knew each other from the stag do.

I don't like how often there are recaps throughout each episode. It slows it all down but yes that comment about Cheryl should have been matched with Nick was definitely new.

SpanishFly · 14/07/2020 08:53

@1984andout glad you heard it too - I think it casts a slightly different light on at least why they were questioning her motives, if she decided to leave her "marriage" then said she should have been with Nick, then reappears with Jonesy.
(I'm not at all saying that she deserved the pounding, but it makes their negativity more understandable)

YourVagesty · 14/07/2020 12:13

I'm just up to the dinner party episode and agree with people re: Michael's aggression. He's so controlling, 'I smile at you, you smile at me, remember?' And as for his stripping gig - it's not even necessary! The man has a day job so clearly gets off on stripping. Dull, aggressive, menacing tosser! Really made my blood boil, poor Scarlet. And I agree with pps, that he'd obviously slept with Scarlet and then dumped her.

I'm also fascinated by Deb. I think she thought she was ordering her dream husband, not taking part in an experiment. And after looking online, it isn't quite true that her modelling career has prevented her from finding love. Apparently, she's spent 20 years working at her local market. So I suspect she has some deeper issues. Also agree that she's not 53, she can't be, surely.

Jon clearly needed a homely woman that he could just sit and have a beer with. Deb was a cruel match really. I think the show knew what they were doing with those two.

WorryWartOne · 14/07/2020 13:36

Agree the twins should’ve been given more of a grilling about the dinner party bullying incident. I actually thought Anthony clawed back a smidgen of integrity by apologising sincerely. Sharon didn’t apologise and sought to justify her behaviour instead, while Jonesy nodded along like a pet dog, so they’re both off the Christmas card list.

Saddo that I am, I checked back to episode one to see which twin dissed Cheryl and called her Princess Fiona from Shrek... it was Michelle. I guessed it was anyway, she’s much more sly and insecure than Shazza, so it’s the kind of Teehee Mean Girls comment that fits with her personality.

Can’t believe there’s another 20-odd episodes of this to wade through... spoilers... so tempting... must resist 😫

WhattheFishappening · 14/07/2020 14:58

I agree about Michelle being the sly one. She’s also definitely the dominant twin.

KurriKawari · 14/07/2020 17:10

I also think that Michelle doesn't like Jesse but won't leave cos she still wants to be in the show.

Italiangreyhound · 14/07/2020 21:12

It must be quite galling to enter a competition to find a match by experts only to find that the most appealing man is someone you've been playing netball with for the past 7 years, or whatever it is!

Anthony is more and more disturbing all the time. He’d be a real abuser, you can just see it.

Cheryl not wanting to kiss Andrew said a lot. She only wants to be on tv. There was no chemistry or connection.

Didn’t Sean have children? Is that why he can’t move? Otherwise it’s easy to move a handful of horses!

Simon is a strange character. Incredibly shy and can’t express his feelings.

You’d think they’ll go back and have another commitment humiliation/ceremony then spend a week at the wive’s homes, surely?

OP posts:
SpanishFly · 14/07/2020 22:45

Simon is infuriating. If you choose to go on a show like this, you'd expect to be grilled about feelings by everyone!

Jonesy kissing Cheryl was mortifying. He went in for a kiss and she turned away, so why on earth did he then go in for a full on snog??? However her choice of words was interesting. "I don't want to kiss you." Not "It's too soon for me" or "Can we slow down a little?" or similar.

I still don't think they should be continuing in this process at all. The experiment and purpose of the show is that they are not basing a potential relationship on attraction- the attraction is supposed to develop over time. They met and hit it off, so it's totally pointless having them moving in together etc.

KurriKawari · 14/07/2020 22:45

Sean has kids.

SpanishFly · 14/07/2020 22:53

Sean and Susan tonight just made me sad. The increasing realisation that she hates Sean's lifestyle and house was sad to watch. I'm with her - if it was a Dallas style ranch, there could be some hope. But it was a bit uninspiring and uninviting. I'd have been disappointed too.
Also, he hadn't been home for 4 weeks, yet nothing had gone wrong with the farm. So why is that any different from him moving away and returning for a visit every 3 or 4 weekends to see his family? Or does he have more commitments than we know about?
He mentioned (I think) his mum throwing food out for the dogs, but does she live with him? Have we seen her? I don't remember her being at the wedding.
To be fair, I've no idea what the distance is between them, so it might be impractical to return often.

SpanishFly · 14/07/2020 22:53

Oops x posted. What age are the kids - do we know?

Italiangreyhound · 14/07/2020 22:54

I honestly am losing interest in all these people. Susan does not want to be a farmer. When she came across the left over dinner on the doorstep she was not pleased!

Michelle not pleased that Jesse lives with his parents!

Simon is not that keen on Alini.

Why would Michelle want to work at Jesse’s dad’s shop? Are these people mad? When I met my DH I was not interested in what he did and to some extent still do not understand, and we are both currently working from home!

Vanessa and Andrew, Andrew’s ‘best friend’ is a bit of a shit.

Nadia and Anthony have hit a wall; no Anthony is a pain in the arse! “I don’t wash lettuce, Nadia. Is that a real question?” Hello, bacterial contamination and pesticides! Listening to someone get cross because they cannot put a bet on, not good. He is not a patient person!

KurriKawari · 14/07/2020 22:57

I do find the constant expectation that jesse and nick have to do things to impress the twins quite tiresome. They're expected to buy them gifts, arrange romantic surprises. Yet I never see the twins think hey I know Nick/Jesse likes this so now I'll surprise them.

KurriKawari · 14/07/2020 22:59

Sean is 33 so I imagine his kids are young.
Also at application stage Sean said he couldn't move and she said she was prepared to for love, but that was before she saw the farm!

x2boys · 14/07/2020 23:01

Simon just doesn't fancy Alene ,does he?

SpanishFly · 14/07/2020 23:04

Sean is 33???!! I am shook!

SpanishFly · 14/07/2020 23:09

I think Simon either isnt into Alene but is wanting it to work; or he reeeeeeally likes her but is scared of being hurt.

@Italiangreyhound oh god, I'd forgotten about Andrew's friend. What a prick. I wish one of the other friends had stood up to him more. The female friend was right- it was pure jealousy.

And yes, wtf is michelle expected to work in the market?? It makes no sense! I also have no real clue what my DH does, and frankly I glaze over when he talks about work.

Egghead68 · 14/07/2020 23:16

I think Simon either isnt into Alene but is wanting it to work; or he reeeeeeally likes her but is scared of being hurt.

Maybe I’m projecting or something but it really seems to me it is the latter. Will make no difference which if he never lets her know though.

For me they are the most likeable couple.

Italiangreyhound · 14/07/2020 23:17

SpanishFly yes that interest on one's partner's job really first or second date stuff!

I think the friend was implying that Andrew was doing everything and Vanessa just sitting back!

I really hope Andrew and Vanessa make and they move to Melbourne away from that nasty friend.

Italiangreyhound · 14/07/2020 23:19

Make it...

SpanishFly · 14/07/2020 23:23

@Egghead68 I agree. I think he likes her and doesnt want to show his cards yet. But as you say, he better start giving her an inkling otherwise she won't wait around.
I've never much understood this thing of being guarded in case you get hurt. Surely being dumped for not opening up isnt any less hurtful?!

KurriKawari · 14/07/2020 23:25

I wonder whether how much of Simon being guarded is the fact that he is still grieving, I think he is just about holding himself together hence the silly jokey demeanour.
