Have no idea what it will be like, but will be interested to watch as I dont think I can cope with any more repeats of Montalbano!

Looking forward to this.

Growingboys · 04/04/2020 22:41

I quite enjoyed this although found it a little far fetched.

The scenery is stunning. Good escapism from dreary covid...

Medievalist · 05/04/2020 00:01

I dozed through this so can anyone tell me why they didn't just fess up? What is the point in such an elaborate - and very fallible - deception?

Peregrina · 05/04/2020 00:16

I didn't know either why Erik just didn't give a cut down version of the truth, e.g. he was taking Adam for medical help. But then, there would be no series if that was the case.

I have been to the Lofoten Islands, so I wanted to watch it just for that.

Xmasbaby11 · 05/04/2020 01:11

Totally ridiculous but entertaining and lovely scenery. I will definitely watch it.

In such a small community (or series of small communities) I don't know how the brothers could have avoided each other for so long. Looking forward to the back stories (I workedout the young policeman was the little girl's brother rather than Dad before he mentioned their Mum). I reckon the teenage daughter susses out Erik first!

Peregrina · 05/04/2020 11:47

I thought the teenage daughter had got Erik sussed too.

I also thought that the young cop giving him a speeding ticket could somehow provide evidence later.

I was trying to work out what time of year it was. Not winter because it was light, not summer because it went dark.

stumbledin · 05/04/2020 13:36

Well - am I cross.

First of all the BBC gave away the plot line so I watched the first episode wishing they would just get on with it.

By the end of the second episode I wasn't sure it was a comedy!

I think, that they dont fess up is to protect the wife because it was here hitting her husband that meant he then hit his head falling down.

But surely in the context of the brother going for each other she would not be convicted of any malicious intent.

I suppose it will turn out there is some complicated back story but not sure I care! Have struggled with Norwegian series before. Not saying they are bad or anything but think whatever customs and conventions they have I dont tune into.

I once watched a film based on the life of the Sami(?) people and it was really good but in many ways mysterious as their beliefs and way of life was so unknown to me.

PS the actor playing the twins looks really familiar, has he been in another nordic crime or was it one of those viking dramas?

I thought the teenage daughter had got Erik sussed too. I thought so too.

The lead actor was in Game of Thrones I think.

I enjoyed the Twin Chinese girls programme afterwards. Had seen it before. The Orphanage denying they were twins then the DNA came back - yep Twins!

BakedCam · 05/04/2020 14:38

I liked it.

Beautiful scenery.

I reckon there will be another accident with the teenage daughter and she will need something from Dad's body. It will all come out through DNA or bloods.

The joyrider boyfriend of the teenage daughter is key. That is how far fetched I went into it.

Wasnt the lead actor in The Bridge?

ouch321 · 05/04/2020 18:22

I was surprised that when the caravan was found in the water by police that they didn't try and call him given that they couldn't see him in the water.

I agree the teenage daughter = bit suspicious of her new dad. Plus she saw him loitering earlier in the day and seemed to double take when he was trying to sneak into a cabin.

I watched the documentary Twins a Word Apart afterward as well. Fascinating documentary, they'll be teenagers now. Also renewed my interest in seeing the fjords...

Love Scandinavia dramas. Will download and set for planner next week

stumbledin · 05/04/2020 19:19

I think it must be Beck that I remember the lead actor from as I have a vague memory of watching it.

Also Lilyhammer which was so silly I gave up on.

Just started watching - is it subtitles the whole way?

Peregrina · 05/04/2020 21:18

He was in one of the Danish police series, playing a maverick Norwegian cop seconded to Copenhagen. Was that Beck?

Medievalist · 05/04/2020 21:33

Just started watching - is it subtitles the whole way?

It's a Norwegian drama!

ouch321 · 05/04/2020 21:38

Just started watching - is it subtitles the whole way?

No. Don't worry.

The whole cast all decide to go to English summer school at the end of this episode so they can do their lines in English from ep 2 onward...

Grin

Gentle teasing...

stumbledin · 06/04/2020 13:57

Yes lead actor was in Beck. He came in after that rather strange silent thuggish one (who often saved Beck who would get himself in a dangerous situation) came to a sudden death. So from strong silent well groomed character, they had the complete opposite.

Having got over (a bit) my irritation the first two episodes I am now wondering if part of the back plot will be that originally the wife was involved with the beach bum twin, and then thought for a more stable future she would pair off with the more conservative twin.

Glad there's a thread on this - I loved it and was engrossed in it from the start (unusual for me!)

It is far fetched but the plot line is great. Can't wait to see what happens as the deception gets more entrenched.

Scenery is absolutely amazing and I have serious house envy (in love with their kitchen tiles Grin)

IsadoraQuagmire · 07/04/2020 14:19

I loved it, I'm a big fan of Kristofer Hivju anyway. It was pretty silly though!

Deathraystare · 08/04/2020 07:49

Also Lilyhammer which was so silly I gave up on.

I enjoyed it!!

oohnicevase · 08/04/2020 07:50

Is it dubbed ? I can't deal with dubbing 😬.. shame as there are loads of good shows on Netflix that are dubbed. !

Peregrina · 08/04/2020 11:09

No, subtitled.

stumbledin · 12/04/2020 14:13

SPOILER ALERT FOR EPISODES 3 & 4

Feeling smug as what I said I thought the backstory would be was confirmed by last nights episodes. And raises the question about the daughter.

But still not clear if it isn't meant to be a comedy!

Yes it has become even more far fetched (the police officer taking Karin home with him Hmm) but I still enjoyed the back story along with that amazing scenery!
