Have no idea what it will be like, but will be interested to watch as I dont think I can cope with any more repeats of Montalbano!

The beard is awful! I just want to give him a hair cut and a shave.

grafittiartist · 25/04/2020 22:12

I could live in that summer house!

Nannewnannew · 25/04/2020 22:38

Dieu your comment re your guinea pig resonated with me because my GP is also wild haired, ginger and white and very serious. Perhaps they are related. I wish she was a boy now, so I could call her Erik! 😂

Peregrina · 25/04/2020 22:41

I think they have left it open for series 2.

I think without trying to spoil it for those who are still catching up that the copper Frank twigged something when his daughter was talking to her mother's grave.

Will let those of you not on 7 and 8 catch up before I tell you why I think Frank twigged something.

Wingedharpy · 25/04/2020 22:42

Could someone explain the significance of the paper (?parking ticket) on Eric/Adam's windscreen as he left the church please?
I only have a small screen and couldn't read it.

Peregrina · 25/04/2020 22:47

When Dieu has caught up, I will explain what I thought about the speeding ticket, also for not wearing a helmet.

Dieu · 25/04/2020 22:57

Oh, strange. BBC iplayer would only give me 6 episodes, so that's all I thought it went up to?

@Nannewnannew
My GP is a boy, and it's tempting to rename him Grin
Erika for yours?! Wink

Peregrina · 25/04/2020 22:59

The last two were tonight, so they might already be on i-player.

RosesandIris · 25/04/2020 23:01

I couldn’t see any episodes tonight, I thought it wasn’t on!

Frazzled2207 · 25/04/2020 23:02

@Wingedharpy
Not sure exactly but back in episode one frank the copper gave Erik a speeding ticket but put a smiley face on it to mean he didn’t have to pay I think. So somehow this is Frank’s way of telling Erik that he knows

Frazzled2207 · 25/04/2020 23:14

Oops sorry didn’t mean to spoil though don’t think Is a biggy. Will try and get removed.

Peregrina · 25/04/2020 23:31

Frazzled - yes.

Wingedharpy · 25/04/2020 23:39

Aaah. Thank you Frazzled - that makes complete sense now.
As PP said, I too had the impression at the graveyard that the penny had dropped for Frank.
Probably for the same reason as @Peregrina.

Peregrina · 25/04/2020 23:45

I don't like to say until people catch up! But what made him twig was something before the graveyard scene.

Callmesausage · 26/04/2020 08:05

@Peregrina - it was what was said by Erik at the police station (trying to be vague here)

Nannewnannew · 26/04/2020 08:55

Dieu Yes, what a brilliant idea! Erika it is! 😃 Thank you.

Peregrina · 26/04/2020 09:22

Yes, agreed. Then the wheels turned in Frank's brain, hence the note on the car windscreen.

I hope that is cryptic enough not to give the game away.

Nibblets · 26/04/2020 09:57

Peregrina and Frazzled2207 - how come the ticket on the windscreen was there when Erik left the church? He was the last to arrive and the first to leave. Frank and his daughter were inside the church before Erik arrived - we saw Frank tell her to take off her cap in the church. Did someone else put the ticket on the car while everyone was in the church?

Halsall · 26/04/2020 09:58

Yup, it's been left open for a second series. Quite clever, really.

No spoilers!

Peregrina · 26/04/2020 10:02

Oh, didn't think of that! I think that may be a plot hole!

Maybe series 2 could give us a flash back to explain that. The vicar knew that he was coming, so Erik was keeping out of the way somewhere, so maybe Frank saw his car.........

Peregrina · 26/04/2020 10:11

I don't think this is a spoiler, but for series 2:

Frank knows, but has blotted his copybook at the Police station and his clues like the body being found in the wrong place were ignored.
Karin has worked it out.
Trond - Adam's gay friend, has worked it out.
Ingrid breathed a sign of relief thinking she'd got away with it.

Eventually the whole community works it out, but no one says anything because they don't think anyone else will believe them.

Dieu · 26/04/2020 13:19

Sorry if I held up the chat. I had binged on this over the weekend, without having any clue about when it was first aired, or when it was due to end. Anyway, I have just watched the last two episodes.
Do we know when the next series will start?
And does anyone else suspect that Ingrid knew what she was doing when she struck Adam too hard? She's very assertive now, and looking rather pleased with herself ...

Dieu · 26/04/2020 13:21

And as an aside, it's a very snazzy police station for the arse end of nowhere!

Dieu · 26/04/2020 13:26

And when she convinced Erik to go along with the plan?
She saw a way out of her unhappy marriage - without losing face - and took it. I would imagine it wouldn't be easy in such a village to live down your husband running off with the gay colleague. Maybe she knew exactly what they were planning behind her back.
It takes quite a calculated person to stand strong in the face of a lie, when your daughter is crumbling in front of you.

Wavingnotdrown1ng · 26/04/2020 13:31

Ingrid knew that Adam was gay. That’s why he lived in the cellar and that’s why she made the comment to her father that she knew what Adam did when he went ‘jogging’ ( i.e. was having an affair with Trond) in the scene when she castigated him for treating her like a skivvy.
