Gogglebox - how come they can visit family/friends?!

Random thought, just sat watching last nights gogglebox - how come they’re still allowed to visit each other’s houses (those who don’t live together on the show) yet everyone is supposed to be in lockdown and not mixing outside their own household??

I do like Lee and Jenny but I do think a lot if the things they do - like him eating her face mask - are staged for comic effect. That one just didn’t ring true.

I love Pete and Sophie. I think they - especially Pete - are the most naturally witty Gogglers.

Agree that a lot of the stuff we're seeing (Mary & Giles, Lee & Jenny, I'm looking at you) is staged. Pete and Sophie and the Siddiquis are natural. They don't leave the sofa, so how couldn't they be?!
The three black guys (brothers?) are lovely, and very attractive, but I would roll them out to give someone else a try. They don't particularly add anything.

Mary and Giles are becoming more and more self conscious inasmuch as there’s an awful lot of “Oh Mary do you remember when ”..... it’s very clearly for the benefit of the viewers rather than natural chat unlike Sophie and Pete for example or Ellie and Izzie.

I know some people don’t like Pete and Sophie because they’re rather scathing at times. What saves them though is that they - particularly Pete - are also so self deprecating. He referred to himself as a pigeon chested little bastard or something once 😁

Aw I actually think there's real genuine love between Lee and Jenny. They really enjoy each other.

Also dull - the geordie mother and daughter. If my daughter was that stupid I’d be far too embarrassed by - and for - her I certainly wouldn’t be going on telly.

I love Pete and Sophie and it shines out of them how much they love each other.

The three brothers once had a conversation about a new tracksuit one of them had, describing it as trout. I like seeing it popping up now and again.

I thought I read that they both live abroad for half the year. Lee is married - not sure if Jenny is? In which case if they’re in lockdown together I’d imagine they’ll be missing their partners 😕

Sophie and Pete crack me up, as does Giles.
The ones who add the least are barely even in it anymore. The two men who sit in front of the tits portrait, or another couple whose names I can't recall.

Sometimes I cringe for Mary when Giles is talking shit and saying stupid stuff. He is like a attention seeking toddler.

Malone dad gives me the creeps. I can't imagine Mrs Malone is allowed to give her opinion without being talked over and disregarded or having the piss taken.

It's family banter isn't it. My younger brother and I retreat to teenagers when we're around each other. We bicker over the most stupid things (who gets to sit in the front of the car, if we are travelling or he steals my seat in our parents lounge..)

I never thought anything of it until I introduced my now fiance to him and we bickered over who's turn it was to make a cup of tea. My OH just looked at me like I was insane.

I absolutely think some of them ham it up for the cameras, but there are certain couples I can't help but love regardless, Giles and Mary, Jenny and Lee being two of them. Stephen and his husband in the other hand, I really do not like. Stephen is horrible about everyone, and does wildly inaccurate and offensive impersonations of people. Even the most inoffensive people.

I know which mother and daughter pamelapumpkin means, but I can't place their accent. Northern but not Geordie. The daughter was telling her mum off the other week for wearing her boyfriends slippers and jumper.
