New itv series - 4 parts - runs mon to thur

When recently widowed Vivienne announces her love for new man Mark, it throws the family of adult children into chaos

With their large family home and inheritance at risk , the siblings try to find out more about their mums new love

Sounds like the recent toy boy drama and mum meets new man ....... minus being a toy boy 😂😂

You have to pay for extra certificates and some records are not available on line straight away or hard to trace easily so maybe it's just too much faff?
A solicitor would do this of course but if you were not suspicious you probably wouldn't bother! I'm shocked the kids haven't thought of this though. All eldest did was look up his doctor credentials online.
I think Vivien doesn't want to give up the house : don't blame her , it's lovely!
She seems too nice as well ; maybe she's the baddie and killed her first husband with Mary's help? ..
I'm overthinking it! Lol

flowerflies · 27/02/2020 09:35

Jake had done his own research I think - he called the sisters together to show them a newspaper report (or something) about his first wife's inquest. A lady had interrupted it to tell the coroner that first wife was not depressed when she "killed herself".

CaptainMyCaptain · 27/02/2020 09:44

I just wondered if Stella had concocted the whole thing. Maybe not. It just seems too obvious for Mark to be the baddie and ultimate victim. Viv can't be the victim because the siblings don't seem at all upset.

The80sweregreat · 27/02/2020 10:30

That's right about Jake but only after he'd had word from Stella! They didn't do any tracing of much before this despite their worries he was a gold digger.
Anyway, I'm convinced that mark is on the level and it's one of the others that's involved. So far Mary , Jake youngest and eldest Daughter have been interviewed.
So they are not 'the patient ' the detective keeps on referencing. They asked Jake about Stella , so i bet they are on to him and his set up with her or she is important.

Janus · 27/02/2020 10:37

Captain and Mary has been interviewed by the police. (Loved that bit, when she told the police she really kept herself to herself, just after they showed her steaming open Vivienne’s mail!!).
I literally have no clue what’s going on but perhaps Mary somehow rescues Vivienne from Mark and he’s the one that’s dead.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/02/2020 10:43

Sorry MARY not Stella

And too obvious Mark is dead

Stella must have some significance- she’s been quite a central character.

They’ve just shown an advert for tonight’s episode and it showed a bit more of the build up to the punch.

flowerflies · 27/02/2020 10:59

Presumably if mum was dead or "the patient" they'd all be beside themselves and blaming Mark - Jake would, I think, and also telling police about first wife's death..... which, presumably police would already know about....... so perhaps it is Mark who's dead, or "the patient" .......

I'm confusing myself now! Can't you tell I'm laid up in bed with a gastric thing and massively overthinking all this!!

The80sweregreat · 27/02/2020 11:05

Who is 'the patient? ' .. dum dum dum !
I reckon Stella or stalker woman. Which makes no sense at all to anything.

Honeyroar · 27/02/2020 11:15

Could it be Stella because she knows too much??

The80sweregreat · 27/02/2020 11:20

Mark injures Stella for telling Jake stuff she shouldn't? Could be.

flowerflies · 27/02/2020 11:24

Would Stella be at the intimate family gathering for the 60th birthday though?

Presumably Jake's wife would be there.

Having said that, this lot have form for sneaking about spying on people. Younger daughter did, lady made redundant did, so perhaps Stella will too?

The80sweregreat · 27/02/2020 11:29

Yes, they like a snoop this lot!

flowerflies · 27/02/2020 11:30

Mark clearly doesn't like Mary. He put the gate up after the broken bottle incident, so obviously suspicious of her.

Is there some history between them, or are his responses a normal reaction when faced with the eccentric next door neighbour having free rein in what is now his own home?

Charley50 · 27/02/2020 11:44

I think it's dodgy, lying Mark who is dead, even though it's obvious, and they are all covering up for each other. Maybe beautiful mum killed him, by mistake. She's in hospital, he's in the body bag. Last night's episode was a bit boring, would have been suspenseful if the series had spent more time new boyfriend being normal at the beginning, then switching to suspicious.

Charley50 · 27/02/2020 11:45

Btw is Gold Digger worth watching?

Peaseblossom22 · 27/02/2020 11:55

It can’t be Mary because they interviewed her in episode one, wondering if Stella has some link with his first wife . I don’t think the mother is the patient because they don’t seem worried about her but then they don’t look sad either so is she dead?? Or will they interview her today . Maybe it’s the wife of Nats boss who has turned up to confront her or will the daughter of Mark turn up ?

It’s all a bit silly but like The Stranger I am still enjoying it.

Supersimkin2 · 27/02/2020 12:13

Maybe surgeon Mark killed Mary's baby by mistake?

IRL Imelda is loads younger than Francesca.

wetpants · 27/02/2020 12:36

Charley I enjoyed Gold Digger. I think this is better though but Gold Digger was very enjoyable too.

wetpants · 27/02/2020 12:42

I loved how Mary cheerfully said don’t worry, I can still get in through the front Grin when Mark was repairing the fence.

Mary reminds me of my late DF’s spouse. Her mannerism is creepily similar. My DF’s widower is a very troubled woman, she never had children and most likely has an untreated personality disorder of some sort. But she can put on the cheerful, I’m just a harmless middle aged lady act which used to chill me as I knew there’s only blackness behind her smile. I say used to as I haven’t seen her in several years now.

Mooserp · 27/02/2020 13:21

Maybe they refer to 'the patient' because they don't know who it is. Some unidentified person

The80sweregreat · 27/02/2020 14:01

The detective has had a really easy part hasn't he? Looked suspiciously at someone across a table and asked a few questions!
Probably earned a lot of money for not doing much for three episodes! Maybe he'll get out of his chair tonight.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 27/02/2020 15:57

Mark is definitely dodgy. Lot of love bombing of Annis character.

I’m not sure about her dcs reactions.

Not keen on Tovey character- double standards.

I don’t think the eldest daughter played by Blakeley hasn’t been interviewed yet?

Looking forward to the final episode.

Mooserp · 27/02/2020 16:32

The way the daughter reacted when she realised her husband wasn't having an affair 😮 Expecting him to just forget all the abuse she'd thrown at him.

Does Stella really want RT to get back with his wife?

The80sweregreat · 27/02/2020 16:40

Yeah, eldest was horrible to her husband.
In fact none of them are nice at all really apart from Vivian and Stella! (Even they are suspect!!😂)
