I think the Karen story is unrealistic. She lives in a council property, she can't just up and leave.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 25/03/2020 12:34

Karen can’t leave! She’s one of the best things about the show!

He knows about the message doesn’t he as Dottie played it fuu it r him?

I think Dottie played the phonecall denny accidentally made to her phone from his pocket. Dottie doesn’t know about the message on Sharons phone.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 25/03/2020 14:53

How come Sharon hasn't seen the message on her phone already? Grief?

Optimist1 · 25/03/2020 19:35

I'm not sure we know definitely that it was sent to Sharon, do we?

Bioprepper · 25/03/2020 20:12

Why isn’t Karen getting into the phone to Ken and saying get back here and look after your son?! Poor bailey lost her mum and now Karen’s off, she can’t leave her :(

Ian is behaving strangely but then he is strange. He needs Phil to come back and shove his head down the bog again

LOVED the Linda and Shelley scene! Well done Linda!

mrswhiplington · 26/03/2020 10:22

Did anyone see the actor Lorraine Stanley, aka Karen, on BBC Breakfast this morning. She was in her street singing happy birthday to her 90 year old neighbour along with some other neighbours, all keeping their distance of course. He was stood at his front door. It was lovely.Smile

Really hope she doesn't leave the show. She's one of the best ones in it.

GattinaGattona · 26/03/2020 17:26

Why is habiba flirting with jags? is she doing it to gain something? I don’t get it...

I love Karen, she can’t leave, where would she go? Sharon should leave...

I can’t believe there’s only 2 eps a week, I already hated Wednesdays....Sad

EmeraldShamrock · 26/03/2020 17:28

Why is habiba flirting with jags? is she doing it to gain something? I don’t get it Jag's made assumptions about her Dsis relationship with his sister, said it would never work due to differences religion mainly. I think she wanted Jag's to have his heart broke.

GattinaGattona · 26/03/2020 19:24

Oh yeah, I thought she was doing something more long term evil lol

SinisterBumFacedCat · 27/03/2020 00:20

Last night I dreamt Karen was living in my loft!

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/03/2020 14:35

Karen won’t go

So funny we all love her now as when arrived we hated her

Very true about viewer not liking Karen. The year she was trying to sell the DC console in the pub to pay off loan sharks actually made me tear up, I like her since around then.

EmeraldShamrock · 27/03/2020 14:49

I think she reminded of Karen Matthew's originally it put me off her.

SoupDragon · 27/03/2020 15:04

Karen has softened since she arrived.

theschoolonthehill · 27/03/2020 15:16

Karen has softened since she arrived
Mothers writers did their usual 180deg turn. They introduced her as hard nosed, aggressive, con artist. They then developed her character further and did a u turn. They introduce most characters and new families the save way. It would take more work to introduce them as a soft character and develop them instead of churning out the usual character ‘development’ patterns.

The80sweregreat · 30/03/2020 21:05

Well that was very sad.

SoupDragon · 30/03/2020 21:23

Tears over here! I can't imagine having to do that Sad

meow1989 · 30/03/2020 21:41

I'm actually finding it quite hard to follow now there's fewer episodes - it's a bit jarring the time in between. Is anyone else?

iknowimcoming · 30/03/2020 23:31

I thought it was odd tbh, big build up with the horses and carriage then weird cut to sharon giving a speech in the square gardens. The dotty blackmail thing is already super irritating and wtf are they going with the graffiti story? Confused

Mrsjayy · 30/03/2020 23:38

It has lost a bit of flow hasn't it ? Did Denny not have school friends why didnt we see the church service it was a bit odd, Dotty is such a rubbish character she hasn't been there that long to know anybody Confused

I see Kat had her quick exit last week was really awkward to watch !

SoupDragon · 30/03/2020 23:41

I thought the bit where they cut to the flames of the fire in the Vic and then up to Denny's photo was uncalled for.

JuanSheetIsPlenty · 31/03/2020 00:03

I’m glad others are finding it jumpy and disjointed too. I thought that was a really shit episode. They’ve lost some really important skills over the last few years. Episodes no longer make sense. Jumping from story to story. Time jumps. Forgotten characters/storylines. That entire episode should have been dedicated to Denny’s funeral. Not jumping to Linda and social services, or dotty and Ian, or jags and iqra, or Ben and his hearing, or suki and her family. None of that needed to be in the episode where sharon buried her child.

The80sweregreat · 31/03/2020 09:29

Maybe they cut it about a lot because of the latest Coronavirus crisis? It was all over the place. How did she afford all that for Denny?
Horses etc are a fortune.
It was sad though.

SoupDragon · 31/03/2020 10:16

I wonder if they usually film extra scenes later and slot them in. Maybe they have to rely only on what they shot 3 months ago at the moment.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 31/03/2020 10:17

I disagree, I don’t think the entire episode should have been about the funeral. It would be very sad, you need a bit of light and shade. It’s just a shame the light side of things was being supplied by Dotty.
