Ruth was awful to Caroline but she made this happen by inviting her round without finding out anything about her first! She will make allegations about her I think : after her job!
John is so sad : he is marrying Judith because he feels sorry for her !! Not a good start to a marriage really even if she has a beautiful home!
Where has Ted gone? Such a nerve asking those girls to stay : I would have been like Celia there!
The giraffe was cool but Gillian should just sell that barn or something!! She hates it that much!

Caroline made a mistake inviting Ruth over I think. If this was a male boss in same situation I think we’d view Caroline’s invite as possibly predatory. It could get nasty.

They do seem to be acting by numbers this series. Sarah Lancashire is so good normally but she looks a bit fed up! Best ones are the kids : the little girls look so happy.
Ted is obviously ill (or something ) and what are Lawrence and that Angus up to with the filming etc? The teacher one is defo up to something with the woman he works with too I think.

My Dad said they made a plywood frame and stuck that on the wall and painted on it.
He got to keep it afterwards and chopped it up for firewood.

Oh god that Ruth (not the dog) is a really horrible bigot! I don’t think Caroline did anything really wrong. Ruth seems really nasty. It’s all a bit flat At the moment but I do still really love it.

Has no one else noticed the constant references to the LEXUS? They mention it about every ten mins. It’s painful. Obviously trying to make some sort of point . I wouldn’t say Celia and Alan are eco friendly in general. It’s just painful.

The scenery is just beautiful. I’m enjoying that more than the script and acting this series. It’s become very formulaic.

@PelicanPie - the comments and references to the Lexus are just continuing the story from series 1 when Celia and and Alan traded in their cars, after Celia rear-ended Alan's car, in order to buy a luxury car between them that Celia they had always wanted. Every series the Lexus has been mentioned in most episodes. TBH I'm amazed that after all these years it still looks like new/has not been knicked.

I wonder where the Banksy giraffe mural storyline is going?

I'm not enjoying this series, where can it go in the next two episodes? Just feels meh and a bit too try hard with the characters. No depth imo.

Gillian seemed very fed up with that painting on her barn wall!

She hates the barn 80s, it's where she killed Eddie, and her guilt is always there, she won't want any attention on it.
Read an interview with Sally Wainwright who said she only had enough material for 4 episodes, and didn't want to stretch it to more.
I think this will be the final series, although I don't know that.

Best line from Sunday: When John was on the phone to Caroline, "This Head of English...is he a woman?"

John is funny. His stilted way of speaking ; his awkwardness , his generally personality is strange. I want to hate him but I can't ; he fascinates me! ( probably because the actor was also in 'lead balloon' as a similar character)

Also a very similar character (English lecturer again) in Fresh Meat.

John is weak, unfaithful and a crap/absent parent most of the time. He also needs a good shave most of the time and looks like he needs a good scrub the rest. As you can probably tell I'm not a fan of the character 😁.

It's a real shame that Sally Wainwright only had enough material for 4 episodes, I already feel short-changed . Is there not an argument that if she can't find enough material, then collaborate with another writer so that I then get my full six episodes. I don't think I'm being unreasonable, am I? I mean I NEED my full six episodes. I love the whole series and binge watched it all again from series 1 in readiness for this series. The Christmas special was bad enough, which I had completely missed btw and was thrilled to discover, only to realise it was only two episodes, but I forgave SW as it was a "special". But 4 episodes in this series, I cannot forgive that. Come on SW pull your finger out.

lol 8 episodes would be better. 6 is never enough when a series is good.
