It's so pretty! Thank you for sharing the pictures :)

BlackieBooBoo · 29/02/2020 14:09

Those hens are TV hens, they left them there after filming.

I asked my Dad why they didn't use his sheep.
He said, because his are not Yorkshire sheep. Gillian has Swaledales. My Dad has Lancashire sheep that are not Swaledales!

They did use one of his tractors though.
He is very proud to have taught Nicola Walker how to drive it.

Gillian's sheep are always very clean.

I love Sarah Lancashire (hence my user name).

Am I being thick? Was the Raff character played by this actor in the last series? I thought he was played by the guy out of Emmerdale? Took me a while to work out who he was!

Sojo88 · 29/02/2020 16:22

Raff is being played by the same guy as before Smile

ScapaFlo · 29/02/2020 16:24

He's just grown up 😁

CatherineCawood · 29/02/2020 16:33

Lol! In my head it was the guy from Emmerdale. Was there an ex emmerdale actor playing someone in the last series?

I'm probably.going mad!

diddl · 29/02/2020 17:04

Isn't Dean Andrews (Robbie) in Emmerdale now?

And of course Roy Barraclough who played a friend of Alan's was in Coronation Street-as was Anne Reid, of course.
(If we're talking soaps!)

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 01/03/2020 13:01

I'm disliking Celia more and more, poor Alan. Is Caroline at the same school? Is that where Raff works too?

Funkycats · 01/03/2020 13:14

It's on tonight, hurrah Smile

AutumnGlitterBall · 01/03/2020 13:23

CatherineCawood

Catherine’s son Daniel in Happy Valley was played by Karl Davies who used to be Robert Sugden in Emmerdale. I think there’s a lot of crossover between some shows.

Squigean · 01/03/2020 14:18

I was wondering that @BlessedBeTheFruitCake, I think it's supposed to be but her office appears to be different.

Last series didn't she walk into a room, where there were two desks, and she made a comment to one woman at a desk about the large blue sign on her office door needed straightening by Maintenance. Last episode she was at the door of the headteachers office (indicated by small not blue sign on door) which lead off the corridor.

Now the door she was stood at in last episode might be the door that leads into the room with the two desks and her office off it. But in the last series the furniture and fixings in the room didn't seem very modern, yet the school in this series does.

I've no idea why I recall in so much detail about that particular scene for last series (especially as I'd forgotten other bigger details!!). Think it was because it struck me at the time that it was used to emphasise how run down Caroline's new school was!! There were a lot of things to indicate that lots things needed improvement. The woman Caroline asked if she would call Maintance said 'they won't like that' and Caroline replied 'try them anyway'.

But other than that, I think it is supposed to be the same school!!

CatherineCawood · 01/03/2020 16:18

Ahhhhhh I see! I'm getting myself in muddle. Thanks for letting me know. I can picture him now! Grin

Cary2012 · 01/03/2020 17:17

Gillian's Robbie lives with the daft vicar woman in Emmerdale, can't remember either of their names!
Raff works in a different school to Caroline, but I think he did some of his PGCE there, was briefly mentioned.
Love the photos!

Looking forward to tonight, hope Celia's less mardy!
Wonder whether Alan's long lost son Gary will appear in this series, hope so.

Was recommended the series so spent the weekend watching from the very first episode and am now finally up to date. Love it. Agree Celia has got worse. Very selfish, especially in the spat about the woodworm repair. I was willing Alan or Gillian to bring up that he hadn't really wanted the new kitchen but was forced to go halves. Although he should have told her he was lending Gillian 5k I'm surprised he has such little say in how he can spend his own money!
Also thought it was a bit odd Alan didn't mention to Celia he was thinking about a part time job - especially as they only have one car...

jrb123 · 01/03/2020 20:59

I have just binge watched all of the previous series and loved it all. But I was seriously disappointed by the first of series 5. Celia is such an old bag, so entitled and malicious, that it's hard to watch. There seemed to be a lot less exciting drama and a lot more heavy and tedious chat in the latest episode. I do hope it improves - I found it quite depressing.

unique1986 · 01/03/2020 21:06

I Wonder Why this brand new series is only four episodes?

outofyourhand · 01/03/2020 21:09

@unique1986 I was wondering that too.

I also think Sarah Lancashire seems a lot more...'reserved' in this series. She comes across as uncomfortable.

unique1986 · 01/03/2020 21:11

Just makes me think the writer has run out of steam or they weren't given the budget.

unique1986 · 01/03/2020 21:11

Yeah it's a bit like Sarah Lancashire has forgotten how to act the part.

CaptainMyCaptain · 01/03/2020 21:25

I have also just binge watched all previous series. I thought the (short Christmas special) series 4 was a bit rubbish.

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 01/03/2020 21:31

@Squigean Yes, I remember her office being off another room too but last episode it was off the corridor. I also remember the sign being wonky, I don't remember anything useful but I remember that! Grin

CaptainMyCaptain · 01/03/2020 21:33

I watched that episode today - she went through the secretaries' office and the sign on her door was wonky.

Cary2012 · 01/03/2020 22:11

So, what is your dad's view of Giraffes Blackie? Grin

I was wondering that.
