Celia's kitchen looked about 30 years old, dated but not tatty.

Yes to Judith's mega success seeming a tad unlikely.

FuzzyPuffling · 24/02/2020 12:22

Judith is like J K Rowling (in success terms, not drinking!)

For a short while I was a teacher in Halifax. No Headteacher ever mad a pass at me (thank goodness!)

I miss the north. Oh how I miss the north.

The80sweregreat · 24/02/2020 12:58

It was boring and I ended up mumsnetting!
Rambling on, Celia is horrible now and it's just become a bit pointless. The home that Caroline's ex lives in is beautiful and I love his aversion to dogs as I'm like that a bit with big dogs too!
I always think of her ex in ' lead balloon' as a mad cafe owner. He was so funny with Jack Dee. A comedy that made me lol!
I've forgotten who they are too it's been so long!
Good acting though and nice houses and scenery. ; Nicola Walker is always very good in everything.

The80sweregreat · 24/02/2020 13:07

One child belongs to the girl that is pregnant I believe? They call her Calamity as someone misheard her real name when she was born and thought they said that instead of her real name : which is .. don't know!
I don't remember Ted either.
Maybe I should give up on this early doors!
😂

NathanNathan · 24/02/2020 13:12

So happy to hear this! I thought the last series was the last one!

graingers · 24/02/2020 13:59

Celia really is an irritating twat

dottypotter · 24/02/2020 14:03

didnt enjoy loads of mumbling all the time.

Drinking wine all the time not necessary whats wrong with TV

Too much swearing not very necessary if its a good drama and the little girls swearing too no need.

Used to be gentle dont ruin it.

The80sweregreat · 24/02/2020 14:04

Celia doesn't deserve the lovely Alan. The dynamic is wrong and wouldn't work in real life I think. Celia needs a more 'Tory ' type with a big car for the golf clubs and a braying attitude to everything. Alan cares too much about people.

dottypotter · 24/02/2020 14:05

whats wrong with Tea meant to say!

Funkycats · 24/02/2020 14:07

I recently binged watched the whole series and loved it. Recorded it last night and waiting for DH to come home so we can watch it together.
Haven't read full thread yet as don't want spoilers, but will be back after we've watched it!

granadagirl · 24/02/2020 14:10

Love it, excited to see it back
I looked and there’s only 4 episodes ☹️

diddl · 24/02/2020 15:12

I think it started off so well-the idea of Alan & Celia meeting again after so many years & marrying & then has tried too hard to have drama & twists.

Gillian killing Eddie & then marrying his brother.

Alan's son by an affair.

Caroline being gay.

confusedandemployed · 24/02/2020 15:18

I enjoyed it, but Celia is even more of a cow now than she was before.

The80sweregreat · 24/02/2020 15:32

Caroline seems to be 'phoning it in ' as they say! Her ex is still in love with her and his new partner is just horrible. I would love her house though ( shallow)
I love Alan's daughter though : only one I like! I feel sorry for her.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 24/02/2020 16:20

I tried to like it (I used to like it) but I find Cecilia a bit bitchy now and Caroline thinks she knows all .

The80sweregreat · 24/02/2020 16:23

It's had it's final Tango last series I fear!

ConstancetheGardener · 24/02/2020 16:24

I love it but found Caroline very annoying , and as others have said borderline creepy . I also found her ex and his lady friend superfluous . Had to try and remember the relationships and who everyone was . I love the conversations between Celia and Alan , they sound so real , all the asides about totally mundane things and half finished sentences .Feel a bit sorry for Celia , she seems snobbish and brittle but that is surely a result of her upbringing and her previous marriage , she bears a striking resemblance to Hyacinth Bucket , trying to "keep up appearances" which must resonate with a lot of people

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 24/02/2020 16:24

Celia not Cecilia

dogsdinnerlady · 24/02/2020 16:49

I think Caroline's colleague said something about 'him' at home and their relationship problems. If she is not gay why is Caroline homing in on her? It's targeting a vulnerable individual. If Caroline were a man everyone would be outraged so for me it's hard to sympathise with her character now.

The80sweregreat · 24/02/2020 17:07

The conversations are ' real' I'll give it that and the writer has a good way of delivering the lines as if real people were speaking them. If that makes sense! It's just lost its spark a bit but maybe it'll liven up once this Ted turns up. I can see Alan going off with a woman on another till ( if he gets that job) I hope he does and Celia can cook in her new kitchen on her own! Silly women.
I missed if he did get the job by the way. ?

Doggyperson · 24/02/2020 17:30

I didn't enjoy it as much as the previous series and I don't remember Celia being such a complete bitch!

I think the writer is busy on Gentleman Jack so maybe it was a bit of a rush job.

Sojo88 · 24/02/2020 18:15

Apparently this series might not be the last one - www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/2020-02-23/last-tango-in-halifax-series-six/amp/

Sally Wainwright has said she'd love to write more, I hope she does!

I enjoyed the first episode, it was so good to have it back. Was quite shocking how harsh Celia was with Gillian - I know in the earlier series they had a couple of big fallings out but I would've thought over 7 years they'd have become closer.

Sorry to see lots of people don't like Caroline much - I've always loved her and think she speaks a lot of sense a lot of the time. She occasionally showed her slightly snobby side though. To be fair she's asked a colleague over to hers and the colleague would like to go, no reason to assume Caroline is expecting anything to happen.

BlackieBooBoo · 24/02/2020 18:35

Proud to say that I grew up on Gillians farm and my Dad still lives there.

My Dad loves it when they come to film.

diddl · 24/02/2020 18:40

How old is everyone supposed to be?

I mean aren't Alan & Celia supposed to be 80ish?

Why on earth would you be asking someone of that age for money?

That's not to say that Celia seems to spend ridiculous amounts though!

Also wasn't keen on the way that Calamity spoke & the way the adults spoke in front of her.

It's sad that they seem to have gone down the route of Celia & Alan not being happy.

unique1986 · 24/02/2020 18:50

Caroline's voice seems different to series 1.
More high.
