Yes the "murdering bitch" surprised me and made me think Robbie had told her. I can't believe there are so many story lines to wrap up in the next episode, there are so many loose ends to tie up, unless they won't be. I feel so short changed with 4 measly episodes.

ageingdisgracefully · 10/03/2020 12:44

I'm missing Gary too. Even though I thought the storyline was silly.

Robbie and Gary both sunk without trace.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/03/2020 13:44

I'm just caught up because I did a rewatch first.

I stopped originally the first time round because the Ghost Of Kate story (and her death) took the absolute piss

Celia has never not been a massive bitch and completely unworthy of Alan

Celia and Alan are based on Sally Wainwrights own mother and Stepfather who reunited in old age, the first series is dedicated to her late stepfather.

Does anyone think Laurence actor looks like Ramsey Game Of Thrones actor?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/03/2020 13:49

And yes, the Gary storyline just didn't fit properly, the character was aggressive and arsey, so they've just mentioned his name the once and otherwise ignored him.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/03/2020 13:51

Robbie said in the Christmas special he was going to Canada, and Gillian has had a card off him.

I think he'll turn up next week.

SapatSea · 10/03/2020 14:24

Caroline does seem a lot more posh in this series and very distracted and inarticulate. I can't believe she'd turn a sinking school around or a nuturing mother. She needed to stand up to Ruth (although she did have ulterior motives for inviting Ruth round). There aren't enough episodes left for Ruth to take a case against Caroline. The urchin kid storyline is pants as is the giraffe. They are distractions from us wanting to know about the actual characters lives.

The80sweregreat · 10/03/2020 15:48

The Giraffe is silly. Maybe the writer is a Banksy fan. ( I like his work to be fair!)

ilovebrie8 · 10/03/2020 17:06

I'm gutted it is only 4 episodes...way too short!! Celia is a horror I feel for Alan he is a lovey guy. The kid story pestering Alan i'm not keen on and it doesn't really fit. Caroline character seems to have put on a lot of weight...I love the actress Sarah Lancashire by the way...but don't remember her being this heavy before. Ruth is nasty but Caroline had have an ulterior motive in inviting her around....we need more episodes! The countryside is stunning where it is filmed.

Rockbird · 10/03/2020 19:06

Caroline did have designs on Ruth but she in no way overstepped the mark. Nothing she did was inappropriate. She didn't make a pass at her therefore Ruth has made a lot of fuss about nothing. And yes, what was the point as clearly there isn't time to develop that storyline.

Four episodes is a bit crap. Six episodes in 4 years. Thanks for nothing!

SoupDragon · 10/03/2020 19:10

Do we know why Caroline's dog is called Ruth?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/03/2020 19:14

Flora named it after Judith's character Ruth from her female Robin Hood series.

SoupDragon · 10/03/2020 19:22

Ah. I missed that bit, thanks.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 10/03/2020 19:34

I too am not liking the story with the pesky boy. I’m not sure where it’s going? Think we could have done without it tbh. It doesn’t add anything imo.

CurlsandCurves · 10/03/2020 20:50

Just popping on here to say Helen, the teacher in the leopard-ish print dress is my friend!

She’s a jobbing actress and motivational speaker. I’m dead proud of her as she finally followed her acting dream about 10 years ago, so quite late on as careers go.

The80sweregreat · 11/03/2020 11:17

As ' Oliver' boy is now hiding in Alan's shed I'm sure he'll pop up again to cause havoc.
I'm shocked that Gillian hasn't had an affair or a liaison yet : she normally has men flocking , but not so much lately! Too busy ferrying other people around and worrying about money this time I guess.

woodhill · 11/03/2020 18:14

@ilovebrie8

Yes, I thought the same about SL.

ilovebrie8 · 11/03/2020 19:11

@woodhill yep definitely...she’s a great actress by the way, she just looks a bit different in last tango ...

outofyourhands · 11/03/2020 19:35

@ilovebrie8

SL has put on a significant amount of weight. I don't care and I still bloody love her - she's been my woman crush for a long time. But I'm wondering if this change has actually affected how she's playing Caroline in this series. SL seems really introverted and unsure of herself, which is something I've never seen in her before.

Cary2012 · 11/03/2020 19:53

Yes, I agree about SL in this. She's great, I love her regardless of her weight. Read that she battles depression and hope that it hasn't taken hold and affected her performance in this. Before Ruth got nasty, and they were both tipsy and laughing their heads off we saw the old Caroline, it was lovely.
The trailer doesn't look too promising, but fingers crossed Sunday's saves this series.

@outofyourhands agree she seems unsure and not quite her usual self in this series ...she’s normally blooming brilliant!!

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 11/03/2020 21:20

I’m wondering if there’s going to be a death of a major character? It’s feeling off this series..,

Ladybirdbookworm · 11/03/2020 21:32

So glad someone mentioned the carrots ...and how long was it taking for them to peel a single one. They needed a potato peeler Grin

woodhill · 11/03/2020 21:59

She's still Raquel from Corrie somehow. That pseudo posh voice is a bit much😊

pageers · 11/03/2020 22:27

If you listen to SL talk in 'real life', she's actually very well spoken! Not quite as posh as Caroline, but she's got a lovely voice.

APatchyTomCat · 11/03/2020 23:02

At one point I wondered if she was whittling them into small woodland animal figurines
