Ah!! Total brain fart moment on my part I was thinking Ted = Alan.

That's not a mystery is it, about Ted, it was mentioned in the first episode.

As I mentioned up thread, I think Celia is showing signs too.

The80sweregreat · 09/03/2020 18:43

I didn't realise they thought that about Ted in the first series. Sorry.
Celia should have gone with Wickes for the kitchen. A lot less money!

SkaLaLand · 09/03/2020 19:11

Well Caroline needs to watch her back with that Ruth doesn't she! What a bitch. She had no idea she was gay and only took massive offence to her attentions when she realised.

That says alot more about her than Caroline. Being gay/of the opposite sex does not a predator make. Even if she did fancy her a bit.

SkaLaLand · 09/03/2020 19:21

Who is the snotty bitch policewoman?

ExpletiveDelighted · 09/03/2020 19:26

Policewoman was Robbie's partner, he was unfaithful to her with Gillian.

Funkycats · 09/03/2020 19:27

@ska she lived with Robbie for a while, and he left her for Gillian.

thenightsky · 09/03/2020 19:27

@SkaLaLand

I want to know what I've seen her in before. I've been googling to no avail. I feel it was a comedy... maybe Peter Kay or similar.

foxyknoxy30 · 09/03/2020 19:29

Was the police officer not in corrie?

ExpletiveDelighted · 09/03/2020 19:31

Yes, she was in Corrie, I think she was a hairdresser in Audrey's salon.

SkaLaLand · 09/03/2020 19:34

Oh ok, that makes sense.

Celia is so me, me, me. Honestly I don't know what Alan see's in her. I was happy Ted called her out in the supermarket cafe. Didn't stop her though did it!

DICarter1 · 09/03/2020 20:21

Ruth (the person, not the dog) is a total bore! Self involved and moany. Talk about presumptive and arrogant that Caroline wasn’t just being a boss. She needs to get a grip. Caroline’s her boss!

BeccaBoo2Shoes · 09/03/2020 21:16

The police officer Cheryl was also in Happy Valley as the wife to Ashley. Loved her mentioning Sgt Cawood! I do think the character of Ruth is being written too homophobic. That Judith angle caught me by surprise!

Vintage2020 · 09/03/2020 21:21

Celia reminds me of my MIL

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 09/03/2020 21:53

Too many stories in this series that are irrelevant imo.

Patch23042 · 09/03/2020 22:06

The police officer was in Coronation Street some time ago, portraying Nick Tilsley’s girlfriend. She pretended to be pregnant in order to stop him leaving her iirc.

diddl · 10/03/2020 07:27

How long has Robbie's ex been in the police?

I thought that when he first met her she was a complete dozy twit!

Plus the mention of Sarah Lancashire's Happy Valley character-sorry, but big whoop!

I do think that Caroline was on tricky ground though.

Why did she even suggest meeting at hers at the weekend?

Then didn't she suggest that Ruth could stay over rather than leave her car & take a taxi even before the meeting?

I mean boundaries!

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/03/2020 07:32

Robbie's ex was a fellow police officer when they got together.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 10/03/2020 07:52

I can’t remember but I assume she knows about Gillian abusive husband as she calls her a murdering bitch.

CaptainMyCaptain · 10/03/2020 08:16

she calls her a murdering bitch. Yes, she slipped that out under her breath so I assume Robbie told her.

Funkycats · 10/03/2020 08:19

Even if he didn't tell her, I think Gillian had to face a lot of police questioning at the time of her husband's death, so the local police would know there was some doubt.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 10/03/2020 08:25

That’s true Funky I can’t see how everything is going to be wrapped up in an hour.

Funkycats · 10/03/2020 08:36

It's not really deep though, is it? It's fun to watch, you can see why Gillian and Caroline turned out the way they did by looking at their parents, and a little story has been woven around that.
I think that the saddest thing in it that has barely been addressed, is how Gillian's much loved late mother has been just swept aside. Alan might be 'lovely' but has been quite callous in that regard.

SoupDragon · 10/03/2020 08:59

I wondered about the "murderous/murdering bitch" bit.

DICarter1 · 10/03/2020 09:12

Have we seen anything of Gary this series?

Funkycats · 10/03/2020 09:14

No, he's been forgotten too.
