She shouldn't of been killed off. A mistake, not only for the series but also because there's a trend to kill off lesbian characters anyway (and there was criticism about this at the time.)

Yep very lazy predictable writing. Can only assume the writer wasn't bothered about the character.

For anyone who's interested in why Kate's death was such lazy f-ing writing... and how it's been done a million times before. Off the top of my head I can name 5 TV programmes where the lesbian character died on/around her wedding day! yawn.

Read something on my Twitter feed tonight that in episode 3 this coming weekend, one character namechecks Sergeant Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire's character in Happy Valley) in a crossover slipped in there by Sally Wainwright!

This programme never recovered from SW's stupid and pointless decision to kill off Kate. I wonder if this has has affected Sarah Lancashire's motivation because in this series I agree that she seems bored and underpowered when she's usually dynamic.

They could’ve done more with Kate and Caroline. It seems such a waste of a storyline.

The pictures of the farm have added a wonderful dimension now to watching the prog. Bits of my family lived in/near Rochdale many moons ago so that adds something again for me. I take it the lights in the distance are Rochdale?

What a thread!

I was recommended Tango last week by a work colleague so have binged them all. Feel very short changed by 'series 4'. What a let down. And now I find that series 5 only has 4 episodes?? Not fair.

However, Blackie is my favourite MNetter ever. How cool is that, that they use your dad's farm! He absolutely should do B&B for Tango fans!

What are people's predictions about Ruth, Head of English (not the dog! ha)?
