Starts tomorrow at 9. Any fans around?

Just finished the series last night. Great ending and fantastic acting. I have very little sympathy for Hannah, she wanted to have her cake and eat it. And agree she put upon her eldest daughter too much.
I was surprised at the cream and the book at Christie’s bedside, I don’t recall her spending that much time at his apartment ( was I on my phone at that bit?!)

It was a bit weird it's not like she stayed at Christie's overnight did she? Surely a pair of special earnings or her watch on the bedside table would have been more believable?

OverByYer · 23/02/2020 11:13

That’s what I thought @happinessischocolate if they were meeting there for sex you’d hardly take a book and face cream?

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/02/2020 12:09

Has series 3 been confirmed? I need to know what's going on with Nina and Tyler - is he bi or is he playing the long game with Xander for his money?

thefemalelemur · 23/02/2020 12:23

Bloody loved this series, can't wait for series 3 (assuming there will be one given the open ending)

Lurleene · 23/02/2020 12:24

The morning the sex tape was leaked I would have expected the paps to be dootstepping Fi's house. Instead Hannah and Christie had the chance to have a full on blazing row in Fi's front garden.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 23/02/2020 14:10

Apparently no plans at present for series 3.

Deedee248 · 23/02/2020 22:57

I have been watching season 2 and am really puzzled about something - I probably wasn’t paying attention. Who is Grayling, and why has she deleted all her emails from him?

QueenOfTheAndals · 23/02/2020 23:04

@Deedee248 That was her code name for Christie. So she'd put Grayling in her diary when she'd meet him and had him on her phone under the same name.

Deedee248 · 23/02/2020 23:06

@QueenOfTheAndals Thanks. I did wonder if it was him.

CanIhelpyouatall · 24/02/2020 19:19

Some of the music got on my nerves but the song at the end of the last episode was beautiful and very fitting.

Bringringbring12 · 24/02/2020 19:50

Really thought superb tv

Any one know the London university they went to?

Gonegrey31 · 24/02/2020 21:07

Was the University Royal Holloway maybe?

Bringringbring12 · 24/02/2020 21:22

Good university but they said how incredibly difficult it was to get into and RH not up there with other London universities

hernamewasrio · 24/02/2020 22:22

Yes it as Royal Holloway in Egham. Great university but dead at the weekends as everyone seems to head into London. It's been used in lots of tv shows - I was once an extra when I was a postgrad there :)

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/02/2020 00:07

Nina's shoplifting was a bit of a pointless plot point wasn't it?

SandySarnies · 26/02/2020 06:09

I absolutely loved both series. Perhaps I'm biased because I adore Nicola Walker's acting. To me she perfectly captures inner turmoil, complex emotions, layers and layers of different needs and desires. I think shes brilliant!

Anyway. Book and cream: I think the heartbreaking aspect for Nathan was that it showed intention. She's told him that it was a silly mistake she called it a "moment" and said that it's over. Now, we dont know how often she's stayed the night. Maybe it's only been once, but the book and the cream show that she's making herself comfortable, she intends to go back, often. This is a long term thing. It's a bit like putting your slippers under the bed, right? I think it's the intention that breaks Nathan's heart. Even the book: her bookmark with the family photos suggest that this is a favourite book, something she'd want to come back to, not a brand new bit of pulp fiction shes picked up just to pass the time. It's symbolic of the investment she's making with her heart.

Nathan's fling was brief and anonymous. It was him seeking out a bit of companionship and affection. Her affair was totally different. Nathan tells his trainee that he's been living with someone who has loved someone else for 20 years. That's the betrayal. And the book and cream tell him that however long it's been going on (but definitely more than a "moment"), she's making herself comfortable and has no intention of finishing it.

Absolutely tore me to bits.

Ohfrigginghellers · 26/02/2020 07:58

I really felt for both Nathan and Christie. She's treated them pretty shabbily really. Really messing Christie about. It was very good acting. I agree with the poster above that Nathan was right to leave in the end. Maybe the space will help her decide what she/who she really wants but I suspect she could end up with both men not wanting her in the end?

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/02/2020 08:34

I'm thinking about something another poster said earlier, about Hannah always being aloof/distracted and not knowing what Christie saw in her. Perhaps that was her appeal - she was always slightly out of reach and he kept reaching. I liked him in the first series but I don't think Abi Morgan did him any favours in this one. Sleeping with Donna Air's character was a step too far - he was a very experienced solicitor, would he really have been so unprofessional?

MollyButton · 26/02/2020 15:45

They may have used real University buildings but the University was supposed to be like the old College of Law, now University of Law. It was supposed to be the place to do your post grad law studies (a bit like the equivalent of London Business College for an MBA).

I hope there is a series 3. Nina and Tyler was signposted from quite early on - she even asked why he kept staring at her. Of course Nina is a vulnerable person.
I loved the end, and the fox metaphor.

SandySarnies · 26/02/2020 19:31

Agree with PPs about Christie sleeping with Dinna Air character. Didnt seem to fit somehow. Even reminding myself that he'd knocked on Nina's door, it still felt slightly at odds with his character.

2Rebecca · 27/02/2020 14:09

Im just half way through. I think Nicla walker looks great and don't see what you see in Christie who comes across as wet and clingy. I also think they're being heavy handed with the coercive control plotline and turning the guy in to a pantomime baddy. It's Rob from The Archers all over again.

BoucleEponine · 27/02/2020 16:26

Is family law really lucrative enough to warrant those stupendous offices in central London?
Why didn't Hannah wear trainers when she was bobbing about London? No wondering she always looked miserable - her feet must've been killing her.
Agree she didn't seem convincing as a hot shot lawyer- I could imagine her beavering away in conveyancing. She was so dull.
Is Stephen Mangan a comedian - his delivery was odd.
Why did the athletes have a solicitor for their adoption? Don't you have a home study then go to panel for approval/matching - prospective adoptive parents don't need legal representation.

Loved it anyway!

Mooserp · 27/02/2020 17:02

It was funny how the athletes turned up in their team GB tracksuits.

BehindTheGreenDoor · 27/02/2020 17:50

I thought the adoption storyline was the weakest. Why wouldn’t they wait until one or both of them retired? It made no sense.
