Starts tomorrow at 9. Any fans around?

Actually the elite athletes were not goodies were they? And Hannah represented them (until she didn't). I can't remember any other clients. I think at her stage in her career she'd be able to choose like that. I don't think it's odd that she has those "goody " clients.

turnedabout · 15/02/2020 11:40

@OnTheEdgeOfTheNight yes I saw that part where she ditched the athletes after they didn't turn up for the adoption hearing, she called them out on being uncommitted- quite rightly so. I just think for the drama of the show it would be a bit more interesting for her to have a client who isn't very nice or well behaved.

What do you think of my other comment about if the situation was reversed between her and her hubby- would we, as viewers, feel the same way about it?

OnTheEdgeOfTheNight · 15/02/2020 13:58

If the storyline was reversed and Nathan was meeting up with his "could have been the one" from uni, who was pregnant when he married Hannah, well none of us would be watching 😂.

I think Nathan's Indiana Rey (sp?) storyline in s1 then Hannah's dad dying was a good way to set the scene for Hannah to ask Christie not to go to Chicago. I didn't like her having an affair with him in s2 though, I thought it should have been one night together/ dad dies/ I don't want you to go to Chicago/ Nathan gives permission to do whatever she needs to, to go back to him/ oh I've come to my senses now. I really didn't want them to split up in s2. I do like Nathan much more this series.

I do agree that it's a bit simplistic for Hannah to always represent the good guys, but I think it's realistic that she can sometimes choose her clients, and that she's at a point in her career where she can be idealistic (unlike Melanie, who doesn't care?) Actually thinking about it in s1 Hannah was good and she had Goldie, in s2 Hannah was behaving badly and she had the athletes. Maybe if they have another series they could do a Good Wife storyline with the firm taking on a very lucrative criminal 😂

Am I the only person who is't a fan of Nicola Walker? She has such dead energy imo and is utterly expressionless. I genuinely find her attempts at happiness so unconnvinving. She just looks and sounds miserable all the time.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 15/02/2020 16:44

I thought it was a great series. I'm a bit disappointed in myself that I binge watched as I'd like to have savoured it a bit more!

othervoicesotherrooms · 15/02/2020 17:28

On Episode 4 and irritated at Nathan. Has he forgotten his own affair? All this talk about 'the children'... Stupid man deserves what he gets.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/02/2020 20:00

Actually all the men in the series were crap weren't they, apart from Xander and the Prof? What was the point of the Prof character anyway? Rose didn't even open her bloody DNA results!

othervoicesotherrooms · 15/02/2020 20:49

Just finished episode 6! There has to be a3rd series now! So good ! Crying too.

BehindTheGreenDoor · 15/02/2020 21:28

James was much better this series. And so far no cheating on Rose or sleeping with clients. He’s a diamond Wink

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/02/2020 21:50

He and Rose are just so wet and tedious though.

autumnhare · 15/02/2020 22:14

Binge watched the series and loved it! Really hoping there's a third.

The scene at the restaurant was heart wrenching and when Hannah came home, saw the ring and wept on her mum, I did tear up at those parts. Was hoping they'd reconcile but I suppose the actual outcome was more realistic. I was also left feeling a bit sorry for Christie. What a mess it all was!

Probably going to re-watch series 1 and 2 in the next few weeks to see if I missed anything/enjoy it all over again.

Maighdeann · 16/02/2020 03:11

I'm rewatching them both too

Lexplorer · 16/02/2020 17:50

Love mum! S1 she came across as an emotionless hard-nosed woman but S2 she was brilliant. Love the snippets about her younger days and her relevance in a world of bright young things. Bloody Christie, don't like him. Me, me, me, reminds me of Ross in Friends. Agree about liking James better this series. Love their family get togethers and their homes. There MUST be another series I insist!

Dozer · 16/02/2020 21:16

How have people binge watched season 2?

Llareggub · 16/02/2020 21:25

The entire two seasons are on iplayer.

Feelingfestivenow · 17/02/2020 17:48

Just finished the last episode.........tears, glad I was not the only one, the scene in the restaurant the keys then the ring....

I do agree as much as I liked Hannah god she was a bit of a misery really...

The kiss, Im not a fan of and dont really think it was needed

Strictly1972 · 17/02/2020 17:54

I just found this series on Friday. I’ve just got the last 2 episodes of series 2 to get through hopefully this evening. It’s so so good.

Expo · 17/02/2020 23:14

Well it’s a lovely nuanced series. That is the word. Nuanced. Whose side do you take. Well nobody’s side. But in the end I think what Hannah did was far far worse than what Nathan did. I mean that is your whole marriage in disrepute vs a silly faceless one night stand - as Nathan said himself. Nathan needs to pick himself up and walk away to find a woman that truly loves and deserves him. Hannah doesn’t. And Hannah now needs to get together with Christie. And how can you blame poor Christie. He has also been played by Hannah. And she still plays with him in series 2. Yes you are best in bed. But then later. But all other things. No. I nearly died.

happinessischocolate · 17/02/2020 23:45

I was crying during the restaurant scene and my dd came in and said what's wrong? I said "he's leaving her.......she totally deserves it, but it's so sad" sums it up I think.Grin

What happened to Christie, he went from being super hot in series 1 to okay in series 2

Dozer · 18/02/2020 07:55

Thanks for the iplayer tip! Am on episode 4 and think it’s better than the first season. My mum is enjoying it too.

NathanNathan · 18/02/2020 20:50

I really like it, but all of this flitting too and fro from Chicago for people - the law is completely different in the US!! You have to do a whole new set of exams, you can't just wander in and practice Angry

Gwenhwyfar · 18/02/2020 21:29

"if it was a male character who slept with another woman the night before his wedding, went to work in the same office then took up an affair with her after 20 years and 3 kids---- I don't think we would be so forgiving and romantic about it. "

I think we might be if the wife had been on an infidelity website that was hacked and shamed the whole extended family.

Gwenhwyfar · 18/02/2020 21:39

"in the end I think what Hannah did was far far worse than what Nathan did. I mean that is your whole marriage in disrepute vs a silly faceless one night stand "

Well a love affair is 'bigger' than a ons of course - though I think Nathan saw the same woman a couple of times. On the other hand, putting your marriage in jeopardy for love rather than just sex is sort of less bad in a way. At least it was for something that counted. And the trust had already been broken between her and Nathan when she did it.

Expo · 18/02/2020 22:31

@gwenhwydar I am talking about Hannah sleeping with Christie the night before she married Nathan. So the trust had not been broken. And I disagree that love is better than sex. If my other half did something for sex that would be far far easier to forgive than if they were in love with someone.

Gwenhwyfar · 18/02/2020 22:56

" I am talking about Hannah sleeping with Christie the night before she married Nathan."

She was in love with Christie, but conflicted, knowing that Nathan was the one who was ready for marriage and children.

" If my other half did something for sex that would be far far easier to forgive than if they were in love with someone."

Yes, I understand that from the cheated partner's point of view. I did write that Hannah's infidelity was 'bigger', by which I meant more serious. However, from a moral point of view, as an outsider, having an affair with your first love, after your husband's infidelity, seems more understandable to me than Nathan risking everything for meaningless shags. Nathan also brought shame on the family through the hacking of the website.
