That was a good episode. Also lots of unexpected stuff, especially for mid season.

Brilliant - I’ll watch this one! Grin

Wow! We loved that episode. I guessed it was Captain Jack before my boys, amazingly!

It will be interesting to see where the storyline goes.

Thanks for the link to the lighthouse, we were wondering where it is.

Loved tonights episode although I did have to pause it to explain who Jack was to the DC. Lovely to see Jack again. Loved Jo Martin. WTF is going on??? Brilliant!

Another fantastic one! I loved Ruth, and would happily see her back again :D jack was an awesome surprise. I'm impressed that John managed to convince his way back on set Grin

I'm thinking something alternate universe-y with the lone cybermen? Maybe linked to someone else from the past?

Really pleased it's back on form.

This series is so much better!

Surely we must see more of Jack? He needs to meet The Doctor yet and maybe he’ll save the day with the lone cyber man?

Afterwards, DS and I watched The Empty Child so he could see when Captain Jack first appeared.

Captain Jack and other Doctor both outclassed JW's Doctor for me. They really showed her up.

I recognised Captain Jack's voice. DD has never seen him before and said "he looks fun!" She's not wrong!

Im a massive fan of Doctor who but I just can’t get into this season. Anyone finding this? I love Ruth but it’s just... not the same. Blush

I would like a Doctor swap, the other Doctor had better clothes and a better Doctor manner.

Doctor Ruth had more gravitas and kick ass. She'd be a brilliant permanent Doctor for me. I don't not like Jody, but the gormless expression she does sometimes followed by breakneck delivery can be a bit wearing.

I agree.

I'll admit, I didn't want a female Doctor. I gave Jodie the benefit of the doubt in the last series as the writing was really poor. I still don't like her and seeing Ruth as a comparison makes her look even worse to me - I could have accepted Ruth as a female Doctor!

@CakeandCustard28 I agree with you. I have struggled to concentrate properly on any of the episodes in this series, except for this most recent one. I was so excited to see Captain Jack return and to find that there's another version of the Doctor. Both brilliant curveballs!

In a way I quite like it that most of this season's episodes have been set on earth.

Lame claim to fame - I've used the loo at that lighthouse!

Report
iklboo · 27/01/2020 14:01

Maybe most of the episodes are on Earth because the Doctor is trying to reduce her galactic carbon footprint Grin

I really enjoyed it! And squeaked when Captain Jack reappeared.

Although we did wonder what had happened to the poor people of Gloucester!

I think they're running out of ideas for the 'monsters' although maybe we've see the Judoon before?

This is an interesting article about how Ruth's Doctor may fit in (or not), but don't read it if you're averse to SPOILERS!

I agree wonder how Jodie feels at being out acted in her own show.
Why do I feel Ruth and Jack would be fireworks.

Judoon first appeared in season 3 in Martha's first episode (Judoon on the moon 😉) and have turned up a few times since I think?

Reading this thread full of spoilers might be enough to get me watching doctor who again. I have been disappointed Matt Smith onwards. I watched all of Peter Capaldis Doctor but felt he was wasted on poor storylines and scripts. I watched the first episode with Jodi and completely lost interest. It sounds like it's getting better. I was actually excited that there was going to be a female doctor until I watched that episode. I'm going to give it a try I think.... Mostly because I'm excited to see Captain Jack.
