At xmas he was in an Agatha Christie two part with Toby Jones. He pops up all over the place but I didnt realise he was this funny

Poshjock · 16/10/2019 22:44

Rollergirl1
I’m a bit perplexed by the Meg character. Nobody could be so overbearing and OTT in real life

Watched the first three with DH today. DH about fell off the sofa, apparently Meg’s character is exactly like his ex SIL Shock. He said he’s never seen anyone portrayed like her on TV before.

MissEliza · 16/10/2019 22:47

Yes Kev was in Endeavour a couple of years ago and Julia's mum was in the same episode.

lolaflores · 17/10/2019 08:09

He played DI felix kane in Cuffs on BBC. He was most odd in it

MissEliza · 17/10/2019 08:20

@lolaflores oh yes he played a rather peculiar character. I liked that series. The BBC didn't give it a chance to develop.

lolaflores · 17/10/2019 09:26

MissEliza completely agree.

LolaVsPowerman · 17/10/2019 11:04

He was in Utopia a few years ago too, he’s a brilliant actor.

Really enjoyed the second series of Motherland, I may even watch it again Grin

derxa · 17/10/2019 11:09

Ellie Haddington who plays Julia's mum is Hilda Pierce in Foyle's War.
She's brilliant

lolaflores · 17/10/2019 11:14

Ellie Haddington was brilliant in that dickensian xmas thing with Stephen Rea a couple of xmas ago. Great actress and great to see her again.

ClownsandCowboys · 17/10/2019 11:19

I know someone just like Meg.

MartineDubreuil · 17/10/2019 12:00

Meg and Liz are my favourite characters

Findumdum1 · 17/10/2019 12:29

The Halloween episode was funny - so true! Everyone starts getting twitchy here at about 7.30 pm and starts rushing through the houses as "the teenagers will be out soon" :)

lolaflores · 17/10/2019 12:36

I know an Ann. You a tee. Even "the baby wants chocolate "...same phrase. Funny, baby needed lots of snacks for 9 months

MissEliza · 17/10/2019 12:41

The Halloween episode was brilliant. I even told my 17 year old he should be watch it!

spiderlight · 17/10/2019 13:25

I am an Ann - from the very first episode I just went 'OMG it's me!' Blush :( (The worst of it is that it's my actual bloody name as well!)

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/10/2019 20:32

Bleak House, one of those BBC Shakespeare adaptations

Dickens . . .

But yes - she's amazing, and having seen the picture of the actor who plays Kevin on here I have to agree he has a look of James Mason.

lolaflores · 18/10/2019 16:52

SchadenfreudePersonified I am so glad someone agrees he looks Like James Mason. I am getting a bit tired of actors nowadays who are sort of idnentikits. or am I getting old an they all look the same?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 18/10/2019 17:48

Yes lola - not quite so square-jawed, but definitely the "look"

I know what you mean aboutl the new actors looking the same - there is a "ticky-boxedness" about them . . . .

Tousled hair- tick

Twinkly smile - tick

Muscular torso- tick

Waxed chest - tick

etc etc etc

The80sweregreat · 18/10/2019 18:23

Kev is nice looking but it's his character that puts you off him a bit in this.
I feel sorry for him when he goes to the Amanda table and they ignore him ; he so wants to fit in up the coffee shop! At least Liz shows him some respect.

Bluewavescrashing · 18/10/2019 19:22

Kev is a wet blanket. I'd happily get into bed with Buffy's teacher though 😍

DownWentTheFlag · 19/10/2019 22:09

I’ve watched up to Episode 6, is that the end of the series?

southeastdweller · 19/10/2019 22:23

It is, yes.

I saw a trailer for Dracula on BBC and I think Paul Ready /Kevin is playing the count. It looks very gory and scary

southeastdweller · 28/10/2019 08:48

It's this Danish actor who plays Dracula:

I think Kevin's character developed a bit this series. You see what a kind person he is. Tbh calling him a 'wet blanket' is arguably sexist. Would you call a woman with the same qualities a 'wet blanket'?
