Has anyone watched this yet? It is really sad. I've just cried most of the way through. I actually dont think shes ugly. Unique looking yes, but not physically repulsive. And I think she has such beautiful big eyes and many other nice features like nice hair and good body shape. It is so sad to see the toll the bullying took on her mental health.

It feels as if Jesy might be at the beginning of becoming able to accept herself. Posting the picture of herself the night LM won XFactor and what she wrote to accompany it, felt like an important first step.

The programme was shocking. To witness her change from someone who was happy with herself to a self-hating, anxious, suicidal shadow was awful. It’s easy to say she should step back from social media but I doubt it’s that simple both from a professional and personal perspective. The desire and need to seek constant approval is very seductive and can take a very deep hold when someone is feeling they aren’t good enough.

I hope she will keep getting help and with support feel able to return to her more authentic self and feel strong enough to accept that she doesn’t need false lashes and invasive procedures to feel validated. She seems a lovely and genuine person. I felt so sad for her and her family and friends.

Beaniebeemer · 18/09/2019 00:22

I always thought that Jesy was the most attractive out of Little Mix. I think she’s got a really raw beauty about her and she’s clearly a really nice person too from a lovely family.

EmAreSea · 18/09/2019 01:22

She certainly had raw beauty... unfortunately she’s now had so much work done that she’s morphing into Khloe Kardashian.
I do wonder how having so much surgery can affect a person’s mental health... as I said before, I can see why she did it after what she went through and she certainly looks good, or at lest what passes for looking good in today’s artificial, big-boobs-big-butt-and-big-lips obsessed society, but I always think having one’s appearance so dramatically altered must leave you with some sort of identity crisis? If I’d had all that work done I wouldn’t recognise myself... surely for some people it must do more harm than good?

HollysTeflonSeptum · 18/09/2019 07:43

I agree EmAreSea

Reminded me of Megan Barton something from Love Island who was being interviewed on ITV apparently promoting body positivity and acceptance now that she has changed pretty much everything you possibly can change in your body and appearance.

What kind of message is that? Yes, accept yourself kids but only after you've had shitloads of procedures and surgery. Makes no sense. Perhaps lobotomies were involved when they were out.

Userzzzzz · 18/09/2019 09:26

It was really sad and she’s obviously changed a lot to achieve acceptance. Tv execs really need to consider the responsibility they have to youngsters participating in reality tv. She was thrust into the public eye, required to have social media and didn’t have the resilience or the support to cope. Technological changes have happened so fast, society hasn’t really caught up with the implications yet and the younger generation had been a guinea pig in some ways. Bullying has always existed but it’s just so much easier to be vile online.

GlitchyWitch · 20/09/2019 00:10

She’s overdoing the lip fillers lately but she’s gorgeous. It’s a shame she can’t see it. I think she’s absolutely mesmerising to watch.

Fresta · 20/09/2019 13:56

I suspect she hasn't had lots of work done- from what I can tell, apart from maybe lip fillers she's just using make-up and weight loss to change her appearance. Even the big lips are largely created from lots of overlining and pouting- doing that slack-jawed look makes lips look bigger too.

Pinkyyy · 20/09/2019 15:43

@Fresta you are incredibly naive if you actually think that. She's clearly had lip fillers, cheek fillers, chin fillers, a nose job and god knows what else.

Of course she's more than entitled to have as much work done as she wants, but it's an awful lot more than just lip fillers.

Fresta · 20/09/2019 16:12

I'm not naive- Jesy has always had a perfectly petite nose, a little pixie chin and pronounced cheekbones. The defined jaw is achieved by weight loss and clever make-up tricks. And don't forget videos and photos are subject to photoshop too. Don't believe everything you read- the evidence is there in the photos!

Pinkyyy · 20/09/2019 16:16

You believe that if you want to. It's quite obvious what she's had.

Fresta · 20/09/2019 16:22

Come on then- show me the nose job evidence- her nose looks the same to me! Where are the pictures which which show it clearly?

Fresta · 20/09/2019 16:26

www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p07lsr4d/jesy-nelson-odd-one-out Zoom in on the video still here- she may have a bit of lip filler but look closely- her lipstick is about half an 1cm outside her natural lip-line making her lips look huge from a distance. Underneath the lipstick her lips are their original recognisable shape.

Fresta · 20/09/2019 16:33

Also watch the documentary to see how the make-up artist shades her neck to define her jaw, and Jesy herself describes how they all look good after 'hour and hours' of make-up and lighting. She's also lost an awful lot of weight- her face was very rounded when she won x-factor as she was a lot bigger than she is now.

Pinkyyy · 20/09/2019 16:36

I can't be bothered with this. You're just stupid if you think all she's had is a bit of lip filler.

GlitchyWitch · 20/09/2019 16:48

The lip over lining is very very obvious - but her lips still look fuller than they used to be. I think she’s definitely had fillers. I’m not sure about anything else.

Fresta · 20/09/2019 16:58

Yes- fillers for sure!

Fresta · 20/09/2019 17:00

Ok @Pinkyyy, whatever you want to believe.

bakedbeanzontoast · 22/09/2019 18:19

I think she looked nicer when they first started up TBH. I'm not sure if she's lost loads of weight though but then I didn't think she was particularly big in the first place.

IHaveBrilloHair · 22/09/2019 22:02

I thought she'd had those bum implants?

Pinkyyy · 23/09/2019 05:27

She looks like she's had some sort of butt lift, I agree. She's got one of those bums that you just don't get from exercise.

CardiFree · 23/09/2019 08:07

Yy about bum-job. She had the bigger girl/flat bum look before. Pretty sure it doesn't increase with weight loss.

BringTheBounceBack · 23/09/2019 11:28

Fuck sake Hmm so invested in the poor lass’ looks at this point, get a grip!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 23/09/2019 13:22

Exactly bringbacthebounce this thread has just descended into pathetic obsessing on the possibility of her having surgery. Which is part of the original problem she was dealing with.

CardiFree · 24/09/2019 06:38

It's about the message Sinister, quite rightly she's calling those bullies out in the documentary but for fans or kids that may look up to her it's totally inconsistent to not even touch on all her procedures. Even her mother just mentions excessive make-up and eyelashes but anyone watching can tell it's more than that.

The documentary in itself is a great idea but it does give out mixed messages.

BringTheBounceBack · 24/09/2019 11:17

That fact that anyone is even debating whether she’s had procedures or not just shows that no one is certain.

Jesy wears make up. It may well be her insecurities but she said herself - she simply likes makeup. I am the same. I bloody love dabbling about in it and the creativity of it all. My hair is often fake. I wear lashes. I’m not hiding behind anything, I just love dressing up. Jesy just comes across the same.

I loved MJ growing up but I wasn’t heading for nose jobs. I highly doubt there was a epidemic of fans trying to copy his physical changes.

It does feel like people want to pick negativity out of what is a strong documentary.

It’s not hard to cut the lass some slack and commend her for the work she’s done here and the troubles she’s overcome. Without picking at her looks all over again.

She is just human.
