Has anyone watched this yet? It is really sad. I've just cried most of the way through. I actually dont think shes ugly. Unique looking yes, but not physically repulsive. And I think she has such beautiful big eyes and many other nice features like nice hair and good body shape. It is so sad to see the toll the bullying took on her mental health.

IHaveBrilloHair · 13/09/2019 22:59

No one deserves bullying, it's awful.
That said, I really dislike the way Little Mix wear pretty much underwear on stage, I don't want my daughter to think she has to do this to be admired, or get recognition.

PandaPantaloon · 13/09/2019 23:03

I'm always surprised by how freely people comment on others looks. Maybe it's because I'm no looker myself but I never comment on peoples appearance. It is the least interesting thing about people imo. It's crazy how on a thread like this people still feel it is their right to chip in their thoughts on how she looks.

Hey1256 · 14/09/2019 03:55

@PandaPantaloon I think the bullying Jesy gets is disgraceful. However I think people are entitled to their opinion and when you enter the show biz world you have to have an element of acceptance for that.

The trolling is disgusting. Yes but I also think social media is a choice, even for famous people like Jesy.

Not All celebrities are on social media or some have their accounts accounts managed by other people.

It appears to me Jesy is desperate for approval and in that is probably just as much addicted to social media as the next young person. If it's really that bad she needs to pull away from it. She even admitted she puts pictures up for approval?

FuckFacePlatapus · 14/09/2019 04:33

Love Little Mix, love Jesy. She is a very beautiful woman.

Goatrider · 14/09/2019 05:36

I was amazed that she hadn't had any therapy prior to the documentary. At least, I don't think any was mentioned?

KurriKawari · 14/09/2019 07:29

hey1256 so you're solution is if she doesn't want to be bullied she should stay off social media? Would ur advice to someone getting bullied in real life be "oh just stay out of the playground?!"

bellinisurge · 14/09/2019 08:01

@Hey1256 , you've missed the point spectacularly there.

eccentricalice · 14/09/2019 08:36

Yes people are entitled to an opinion but personally attacking a teenage girl (which she was at the time) just for not fitting the size 6 girl band mould is disgraceful. She said in the documentary that everyone had to have social media on X factor anyway so there was no way she could escape it.
The reason she has had surgery is because she was constantly being ridiculed for her looks she felt she had no option Sad

BringTheBounceBack · 14/09/2019 08:45

I love Jesy. I always have. It’s been obvious for years something hasn’t been right. Every “behind the scenes” I’ve watched barely involves Jesy. When we’ve been to shows it’s been very easy for us to interact with the girls but never Jesy.
To see why is heartbreaking. I hope this documentary has helped her too.

Also I have no issues with Little Mix’s image. Their target market has grown up, just like them. It just happens that a younger generation still likes them. Their clothing isn’t an issue, the girls have confidence wearing what they do, I wear similar or less on stage Smile and I want my girls to grow up unashamed of their bodies as well.

Hey1256 · 14/09/2019 09:09

@KurriKawari social media is not an essential part of life and the reason I think the reason we have so many mental health problems is because of it.

I don't see why doing less of something would be bad advice if it's causing someone harm?

Social media is the devil and the sooner people realise the better and happier the world will be.

Hey1256 · 14/09/2019 09:18

I do have real issue with the way Little Mix dress anyway given the age and inevitable sensitivity of their target audience, not good role models at all, very much "you've got to fake it to make it" which is just wrong.

I agree, the same for any female artists that keep taking their clothes off. I think it's difficult to build an argument to say 'hey stop
Focusing on our appearance' when you are wearing next to nothing in your performances.

bluebluezoo · 14/09/2019 09:25

What is really sad is how much she has completely reworked her appearance in order to conform to what is perceived to be "acceptable" for a young woman in the public eye.

This. Dd is a big LM fan but i refused to buy her the calendar this year. I had to say I felt they, and Jesy in particular, had gone too far in the wardrobe and make up, and they weren’t something an 11 year old should be admiring anymore.

Now all this has come out I hope she finds the confidence and support to be her real, beautiful self and show millions of young girls it’s ok to be different and bullies will always find something to pick on, so you might as well be who you want to be.

MrsVanCleef · 14/09/2019 15:58

I think Jesy is such a beautiful girl and this just goes to show how jealousy can turn into something so toxic.
Having suffered at the hands of bullies at a young age, I can say the effects never leave you ( at least in my case).

ssd · 14/09/2019 18:18

I agree jesy looked lovely before, really pretty and friendly face and gorgeous hair. She is still stunning but it's sad she sees those old pictures and feels depressed.
These trolls are utter utter dicks.

BiBiBirdie · 14/09/2019 18:26

I made the DC watch it with me. Both were pretty shocked and appalled.
DD is a massive Little Mix fan and we went to see them in 2014. She said "but she was so good at the concert, she was so confident, how did she hide it so well?" I could only point out that was the point.
DD had to leave a school due to extreme bullying, so she totally gets it, however, she will soon be pressured by her peers into using social media and sometimes younger ones forget that words are as bad as physical hits.
I genuinely believe the programme should be watched in schools. They often don't realise-how many of us at school either said something mean we wouldn't dream of saying as adults, or had something said to us?
The section about Sian really made me bawl my eyes out, even DH had to make an excuse to go in the shed as he was choked by her Dad.
As for Hopkins. Well. There's no polite, non hypocritical thing to say regards her so I shall do as I was taught as a youngster and not saying anything as I don't think I can say anything nice there.

AccioCats · 14/09/2019 20:23

Agree this should be shown in every school. And I wish there were ways to enforce greater accountability for malicious stuff that’s posted online.
I thought Jesy came across incredibly well. It’s so clearly been (and still is to some degree) such a painful experience for her and for her family but I really hope she now has the confidence to realise what a force for good this documentary is. She’s really shone a light on one of the most serious issues facing the younger generation.

homertonb · 14/09/2019 20:58

everyone falling over themselves now to say that they think x y z is beautiful. No, doesn't matter how pretty they are, just dont be nasty about people's looks full stop.

Completely agree
Sadly there are still many people who believe a woman’s looks determine her worth

TacoLover · 14/09/2019 21:04

I can't believe on a thread about this documentary people are still commenting on her appearance.

This. Saying she's 'ruined' herself with surgery or that she looks like a Barbie doll or like a Kardashian isn't any better than calling her ugly or fatHmm

Oblomov19 · 14/09/2019 21:30

Haven't seen the programme yet. All seems very sad.

Pinkyyy · 14/09/2019 22:28

She has ruined herself though. I don't like little mix anyway, awful role models.

KurriKawari · 14/09/2019 22:34

she has ruined herself
A vulnerable young girl bullied for her looks, is driven to such drastic measures.

awful role models
Admittedly I dont follow them but have they been doing drugs? Robbing old ladies????

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Pinkyyy · 14/09/2019 22:40

If she hated her looks so badly then she wouldn't pose for naked pictures.

OrangeJustice · 14/09/2019 22:40

Urgh.

KurriKawari · 14/09/2019 22:47

Wow, such vile people on this thread.

Pinkyyy · 14/09/2019 22:56

She can feel good knowing that she's causing others to feel exactly the way she did now, can't she. She has the cheek to try and advocate body positivity, whilst showing a completely unrealistic image to young impressionable girls.
