Best ever Eurovision song?

Okay, I’m a huge Eurovision fan (went to the semi finals a few years ago in Stockholm, bloody wonderful) and have managed to convert DH.

We are arguing about which is the best Eurovision entry of all time, or at least of the last 12 years or so which is as long as he’s been watching.

What do other fans think?

schnubbins it's taken me until tonight to get over the Common Linnets not winning.

@ilovesooty I have watched the Eurovision for the first time in many years but absolutely love that song.Didn't realise it was from the Eurovision when I heard it on the radio. It's fab!

Slovenia, 2015. I wouldn't say this was the best ever, but I liked it a lot.

Paula Selling & Ovi (Romania) - Playing With Fire
Finished 3rd in 2010 - the year that Lena won with Satellite (which is a great song)

One Step Further by Bardo is on one of my playlists for walking and always makes me smile

A few years later was Belle and The Devotions with Love Games which was another favourite.

I remember singing Nicole's A Little Peace at Girls Brigade

For all the schtick that it got I loved that Ireland sent Dustin the Turkey to Eurovision...

WhatchaMaCalllit · 20/05/2019 13:21

I really like this one...

To any one who posted about Puppet on a String - did you know that our very own Phil Coulter wrote that song?

Also, Congratulations sung by Sir Cliff Richard has outlasted the Eurovision so it has.

Lulu singing Boom-bang-a-bang was another cracker of a song.

The Swarbriggs (+2) singing "It's nice to be in love again" was of its time and quite a decent song. It finished 3rd to Lynsey De Paul & Mike Moran "Rock Bottom". Wouldn't be able to remember what won that year to be honest.

Something that I'm only after realizing is that when Johnny Logan won in 1980, the following year the competition was held in Ireland and Bucks Fizz won.
When Ireland won in 1996 it was followed by the year that Katrina & The Waves won and that was the last time that either country won Eurovision. The wins seem to come back-to-back for Ireland and the UK...

Probably nothing in it but if Ireland wins again, perhaps the following year the UK will win???

I want Turkey to come back.

I really hope you mean 'Turkey the country' and not Dustin Grin

Or, worse - this bloke, even Grin Grin Grin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 23/05/2019 10:37

In fact, if we're seriously concerning entering Turkey Bob from Family Fortunes (might be a bit difficult as he died 20 years ago), why don't we go for his doppelganger - also Bob - who has brilliantly hit the nail* on the head with the classic winning Eurovision gimmick.

*may not be a nail

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 23/05/2019 12:27

concerning = considering

champagneplanet · 23/05/2019 12:43

It's got to be this, he almost broke the internet Grin

WhatchaMaCalllit · 23/05/2019 13:29

@champagneplanet - how did he nearly break the internet?? I've watched that and I can't work it out... Smile Grin
