Do we need this or is there another one already started?

I only just caught up with the second episode of the new season and had been avoiding the last thread for a bit so as not to see spoilers and it is now full!

Ignore me if there is a new thread already on the go. If not feel free to use this one mate.

Good point about H block.

Re trafficking : it's not a cliché, the victims of trafficking (not just sex workers) are among us people should be aware of this. They are people just like us.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2019 11:06

Therefore, I do believe Ted is in very very deep with something bad.

I agree. I think it didn't impact on his job until now, but the introduction of Corbett onto the scene is starting to bring Ted's chickens home to roost, as it were. He's not H, but he's definitely up to something on the wrong side of the law.

Piggywaspushed · 22/04/2019 11:09

Just rewatched. It's John's wife who says Anne Marie. She says 'Do they know about Anne Marie?'. Previous to that, he says 'Did they ask about mum?'. So the key seems to be John's mum, rather than dad.

Italiangreyhound · 22/04/2019 11:09

buggerthebotox can you point me to any other examples of humour? I've not seen any on this series at all.

YouBumder · 22/04/2019 11:10

I think there's a family connection between Lise and Corbett. I think "Anne Marie" could be her. Hence the sobbing at Corbett's death

Me too

pineapplebryanbrown · 22/04/2019 11:10

How do we know Lise was in care? Jane whatever seems very familiar.

Piggywaspushed · 22/04/2019 11:11

italian, Bunglaow makes me laugh...especially the scene in Cressida's office. She has such a brass neck!

Aldicheckoutworkout · 22/04/2019 11:11

Anne marie was def mentioned in the convo between john and his wife but now I'm doubting who said what. Might need to rewatch maybe from series 1. I also wondered who took Ted to the prison (and why he wouldn't drive himself - would he not want his own car spotted there?)

Piggywaspushed · 22/04/2019 11:13

aldi see my post above!!

LetsDialDownTheIanPaisley · 22/04/2019 11:14

Bungalow is outrageous but think she is a very attractive older lady. Perfect for the siren role.

LadyKylieShagworthy · 22/04/2019 11:15

I think Ted was somehow responsible for Anne Marie's death in NI and that's why Corbett is out for Ted.

Aldicheckoutworkout · 22/04/2019 11:16

aldisee my post above!!
Thank you! i will still rewatch for everything else my tiny brain can't take in in one hour i have missed!! 😉

LetsDialDownTheIanPaisley · 22/04/2019 11:19

Just googled and bungalow is 52 in real life and has a husband 10 years her junior. Lucky him !

drquin · 22/04/2019 11:35

I'm wondering if it's not "Anne-Marie" that John & his wife are talking about .... I thought it was "our Marie" .... but said in their accent, sounded more like "aah-rr Marie".
And its a (stereotypical) Northern saying of "our Jim / our kid" kind of thing??

Might differentiate between Mother Anne-Marie and someone else??

wowfudge · 22/04/2019 11:35

I suspect Corbett's birth mother didn't die and is in witness protection. If he was adopted by a relative, she could have got in contact with him. She may blame Hastings for the death of her husband and this plotline is unrelated to the ongoing corruption case, but Corbett had conflated the two.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 22/04/2019 11:39

I'm thinking along the same sort of lines wowfudge.

wowfudge · 22/04/2019 11:44

Corbett could bear a grudge if as a result he ended up in care and had an unhappy experience or was even abused there. If this is the case, I expect Ted would have known his colleague who died had a family and he'll have made the connection on the strength of what Roisin told him and her injuries. It was very much a message. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't things the Hastings have children and I don't know if that is relevant somehow.

pinkandstripey · 22/04/2019 11:44

I was watching with subtitles, and it was definitely Anne-Marie.

CoolCarrie · 22/04/2019 11:44

I thought he said Our Marie as well.Did anyone watch it with subtitles on?

CoolCarrie · 22/04/2019 11:45

Thank you pink

Piggywaspushed · 22/04/2019 11:49

The dialogue us clearer on iPlayer. She says Anne Marie very clearly.

TheweewitchRoz · 22/04/2019 11:50

The Bungalow character is ridiculous - can't stand her or her acting & agree that Lise's acting is pretty poor too.

The trafficking upset me too - I don't think any of these shows are doing it to bring awareness to a serious issue but rather for sick titillation for a certain type of viewer. New low for me last night.

CoolCarrie · 22/04/2019 11:53

Jackie Laverty is in two pieces that’s how she fits in the freezer Hasta

Piggywaspushed · 22/04/2019 11:54

I'm not sure that's fair on LoD. I agree with those programmes that feel the need to film as if in strip joints and I do agree the plots can be lazy but I think LoD does well in its portrayal of women in general compared to many shows.

tinstar · 22/04/2019 12:00

The trafficking upset me too - I don't think any of these shows are doing it to bring awareness to a serious issue but rather for sick titillation for a certain type of viewer. New low for me last night.

I notice that the people complaining about trafficking and child abuse aren't complaining about the gratuitous and graphic displays of knife crime! I don't really need to have a prolonged camera shot of someone bleeding to death from having their throat sliced!

However, the programme is about organised crime and people trafficking is how some of these groups make money.
