Do we need this or is there another one already started?

I only just caught up with the second episode of the new season and had been avoiding the last thread for a bit so as not to see spoilers and it is now full!

Ignore me if there is a new thread already on the go. If not feel free to use this one mate.

OP posts:

Totally loved the bit with Cressida Dick cancelling the flowers and the follow up line heard through the door, something about “I’m leaning towards muffins”. Grin

And also, poor Terry. I always feel for him with Jackie stuck in his freezer. One day he’s going to grass everyone up.

Rumbletum2 · 22/04/2019 00:18

Why did they focus in on terry's flat being B?? Who lives in flat H??

Oooooooohhhh!!! 😮

Italiangreyhound · 22/04/2019 00:29

Tweet is played by a different actor and the flat is in another place. Or am I missing something?

AngeloMysterioso · 22/04/2019 00:29

I feel like I need to rewatch the entire series from the beginning. There’s so much I’ve forgotten!

OneInAMillionYou · 22/04/2019 00:33

Glad Corbett is gone. I was not enjoying Stephen Graham's over the top performance.

I think Ted is running a deep cover mission of his own, playing on the H suspicions.

Motherbrownskneesup · 22/04/2019 00:40

I noticed Terry was being played by a different actor as well italiangreyhound, he looked nothing like the original actor (elliot rosen) - it grated on me as it seemed as if the programme-makers assumed no one would notice as long as both actors had Downs Hmm

lalafafa · 22/04/2019 00:46

What did Ted say to the prisoner do we think?

Italiangreyhound · 22/04/2019 00:52

"Tweet is played by a different actor..." bloody auto correct, Terry!

Italiangreyhound · 22/04/2019 00:56

Yeah, I think Elliott Rosen has been in a few things. Now Tommy Jessop plays Terry Boyle.

"...it grated on me as it seemed as if the programme-makers assumed no one would notice as long as both actors had Downs" yes, maybe or maybe they just decided to have a different actor play the role and say nothing about it. But the change of location seems off, they moved the freezer to the new location, that has to be trickey etc.

Italiangreyhound · 22/04/2019 00:57

lalafafa

"What did Ted say to the prisoner do we think?"

I think he did not rat out the plant. I think we are meant to think that but Ted stickler for rules would not do it, I think.

jessicawessica · 22/04/2019 00:58

Ok here goes.
Ted has a brother, hence the same name H.
Ted 's brother goes to the dark side... IRA
Ted doesn't agree so escapes and joins the police in UK.
Corbett;s parents die so he goes into care, where he is abused (series 3)
Corbetts dad is Ted's brother.
Corbett wants revenge on his uncle (Ted) who could have taken him out of care home where he was abused.
Ted has realised who John is so calls for his killing before he exposes Ted's family (brother IRA member)
That's the significance of Roisins injuries...Ted knows this straightaway.
Ted spelt definitely wrong, so did his "brother". Not unknown in a family.

BigSexyCrimeUnit · 22/04/2019 00:58

I'm surprised there's not more discussion on here of the absolutely harrowing scenes of the women ('livestock') being trafficked and raped - even though the rape noises turned out to have been fake it was pretty obvious that actual rape was something done on a regular basis by groups like this.

To be honest, I love Line of Duty but to me this went too far. I'm absolutely sick to the back teeth of watching and hearing women being raped on screen as if it's entertainment. I know people will say it was 'raising awareness' but too often it is casually shoe-horned into plots like this totally unnecessarily.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 22/04/2019 01:03

I swear she Jackie L was originally in a chest freezer

Italiangreyhound · 22/04/2019 01:04

BigSexyCrimeUnit it is shocking and generally I agree with you. But we did not actually see any gratuitous rape scenes. I hope that programmes like this will raise more awareness about the reality of too good to be true offers or work abroad, and whether prostitutes are consenting to being abused in this way etc.

Back in series 4 when Roz Huntley was working on the murder and abduction of women she made a point of saying they did not talk about the women as 'prostitutes' but just called them by their names. When a male officer took over the case he did call them prostitutes. I think the subject is being dealt with quite sensitively, although still fucking harrowing!

Just IMHO.

Italiangreyhound · 22/04/2019 01:06

SinisterBumFacedCat "I swear she Jackie L was originally in a chest freezer" Her body was in the unit the gang were using in series one. But her body was transferred to the home on the estate in series one.

jessicawessica · 22/04/2019 01:07

She was in a chest freezer but had to be moved when Tony Gates saw her. When he went back she was gone and had been moved in two suitcases to Terry's flat and upright freezer

sukiandthekettle · 22/04/2019 01:10

I deffo think when Ted typed "I need you to bring all this to a close" it was a direct message to Lisa instructing her to end Corbett.

I am otherwise rather confusedConfused but feel like Ted and Lisa are goodies, and Corbett's death was an unfortunate necessity...

BigSexyCrimeUnit · 22/04/2019 01:20

Italiangreyhound I know what you mean but I didn't need to see it to have pictures put in my head that I didn't want there. There have been many programmes recently featuring human trafficking - Shetland and Baptiste for a start - so I don't really think it was necessary to have yet another one. Also, if you're going to feature trafficking then why not show non-sexual trafficking such as men forced to work on farms or in car washes or women made to work in nail bars, why have the prostitution and rape element yet again? They do it because a lot of people like watching it, it's a sad fact but they do.

Italiangreyhound · 22/04/2019 01:43

BigSexyCrimeUnit can't really argue with you. Sad

I was very unhappy with the child abuse line in series three, it was so obvious and I could see it coming and just felt disappointed. I've chosen not to watch Baptiste because I knew there were plot lines and violence I would not want to watch.

BigSexyCrimeUnit · 22/04/2019 02:35

Italiangreyhound I agree with you, child abuse is another common plotline and I feel the same way about it. Sad

Italiangreyhound · 22/04/2019 03:07

That plot line was very distressing but because it dealt with adult survivors it was a bit different and did not have any flashbacks etc.

IamTheMeg · 22/04/2019 06:49

There's more to Teds fancy woman than meets the eye Grin

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 22/04/2019 07:01

I am tempted to change my username to JackieLavertyfoldsupsmall

Stuffedwithnonsense · 22/04/2019 07:07

If Lise is UCO being handled by Ted hence using laptop for communication, how does that oust real 'H'?
Will have to go back to previous episodes as I am wondering if 'Anne Marie' mentioned during paedophile ring investigation or when Ted was talking to Roisin in previous series.

FellaGoneRogue · 22/04/2019 07:18
