Do we need this or is there another one already started?

I only just caught up with the second episode of the new season and had been avoiding the last thread for a bit so as not to see spoilers and it is now full!

Ignore me if there is a new thread already on the go. If not feel free to use this one mate.

I thought It was a low blow by Gil when she commented to Cressida Dick and Ted about Roisins age !
Shock

LizzieMacQueen · 22/04/2019 09:40

Not sure how it relates to everything else but I think the present tense use of Anne Marie will be Corbett's living sister.

diddl · 22/04/2019 09:45

I must have misheard but when Gill & Alison?Andrea? well, CressidaGrin were talking with Ted there I could have sworn that one called the other something starting with H!!

CaptainMyCaptain · 22/04/2019 09:49

My DH thinks H is a place not a person. Someone above mentioned Terry's flat being B.

NoSauce · 22/04/2019 09:56

Surely Gill is a similar age to Mrs Ted?

Clawdy · 22/04/2019 10:00

The trafficking storyline is becoming a bit of a cliché now. This is the third series this year to feature it - Shetland, Baptiste, and now this.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 22/04/2019 10:00

CaptainMyCaptain your DH could be on to something there. I would have thought if 'H' is that much of a criminal mastermind, they would keep their ID secret from everyone.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2019 10:04

I doubt the writers of various dramas talk to one another about the content of each series they write though. And, if you're dealing it an OCG, it's highly likely there will be trafficking in the mix somewhere.

Aldicheckoutworkout · 22/04/2019 10:09

I think the paramilitary ankles/knees injury definitely had poignance to Ted and it definitely seemed like he understood the message (hospital scenes). I was sure the amount asked for was 200k .....but must've misheard (twice!!🙈🙈😂)

Lllot5 · 22/04/2019 10:17

Wasn’t there an H block in the maze where they kept IRA prisoners

BestIsWest · 22/04/2019 10:19

I’m getting a bit annoyed by Kate being sidelined in this series.

Good point about the H block.

StoorieHoose · 22/04/2019 10:28

Am I the only one missing the long tense interview scenes?

Italiangreyhound · 22/04/2019 10:32

beanaseireann I found the age comment really weird too. I wonder if it had happened to Roison before and that is why the doctor said about previous injuries.

buggerthebotox · 22/04/2019 10:39

I think there's a family connection between Lise and Corbett. I think "Anne Marie" could be her. Hence the sobbing at Corbett's death.

I reckon Corbett's parents were both killed in the Troubles. Ted has a connection to how Corbett's mother died/ was tortured. Corbett knows something about it and did to Roisin what Ted did do Corbett's mother. Hence Ted's reaction to Roisin's injuries. He twigged.

Corbett is getting his revenge on Ted.

Ted should have been taken off the case but Cressida was talked out of it by Biggeloe, who's dodgy as a nine bob note.

Anyone notice the odd grabbing of Ted's hand by Biggeloe on the stairs? Looked a bit like a funny handshake Hmm..except Gill can't be Mason.

Glad to see some of the black humour is back...loved the reference to muffinsGrin.

Another thing -Sam Railston is popping up everywhere and trying to cosy up to Steve.

Encyclo · 22/04/2019 10:41

We have two huge interview scenes coming up apparently

buggerthebotox · 22/04/2019 10:41

I'm also missing the interview scenes. Sad

StoorieHoose · 22/04/2019 10:43

Gutted that Kate won't be able to interview Corbett. They were fab together in This is England

beanaseireann · 22/04/2019 10:46

I'd say Róisín has a couple of years on Gil.
It was G being bitc*y.
The bubble wrapped computer, the envelope of money, the visit to Banks in prison, wanting Corbett shot.
It's not looking good for Ted.
The blocked toilet and G going in ???

Piggywaspushed · 22/04/2019 10:47

Isn't Anne Marie John's mum? That's the name we were given.

buggerthebotox · 22/04/2019 10:51

I think both his mother and Lise are called Anne Marie.

I think I remember, when Corbett is talking to his wife (if she IS his wife) he refers to his mother as "mum" and then calls her Anne Marie as if in the present. So maybe two Anne Marie, one still alive?

BettysLeftTentacle · 22/04/2019 10:51

I also took Bungalow’s low blow as a bitchy comment because she knew very well she was with Ted when it happened. Plus, she clearly despised the fact he still feels an obligation to his wife despite being separated.

Aldicheckoutworkout · 22/04/2019 10:53

Isn't Anne Marie John's mum? That's the name we were given.
that was on the birth certificate/files when they were looking into his past connections with Ireland but on the phone to his wife he said "did you say anything about Anne-Marie?"....why would he not say mum? Is there another Anne-Marie?

bibbitybobbityyhat · 22/04/2019 10:56

I'm just marking my place having read back 3 pages! (good job it's a bank holiday and I've nothing better to do).

Agree, this series is sorely lacking the interview scenes.

I had also hoped Ryan had turned over a new leaf after the intervention by the conscientious Asian police constable in S1. So did we actually see him slit Maneet's throat or was whoever did that in a balaclava?

I think it ALL ties back to the initial cover up in S1 episode 1 when the innocent man was shot due to the broken door number.

Most interesting comment in last 3 pages: Ryan's social worker's name was Jane Hargreaves - excellent spot!

Agree with Hepzibar that the scene of Corbett's wife reading bed time stories to the little girls just after his murder was mawkish, milking it and just really manipulative and annoying Jed! Come on, I thought you were better than this.

I also noticed the different Terry and that was really confusing. I'm sure they could have written in an explanation so why didn't they?

DH and I couldn't work out if Ted had been given the cash by Moffatt?
(ie was it definitely the same envelope M had handed to him?).

When was Ann Marie mentioned - who is she?

In an earlier series Ted talked (I think to Arnott) about being in a situation in the RUC when he survived and someone else (his partner/a colleague) didn't. So I'm guessing that was John Corbett's father. Dates would be about right. And both of his parents dying before he was 10 - that's a terrible history and maybe both of them were terrorists or RUC but in some way involved in the troubles. Whatever, there is definitely personal history between Ted and Corbett because Ted could not wait to get him off the scene (attacking Roisin aside).

The cause of R wanting to divorce Ted has not been fully explained other than him losing some money on a property deal. I also want to know more about Roisin's new man. I think she is a pivotal character in the story. Ted's devotion to her goes beyond someone who doesn't like the idea of divorce because he's Catholic.

Can anyone explain in more detail the scene where Ted went on the prison visit last night? I also wondered (agree with a pp) who was driving him back from that? I hadn't been aware that he usually used a driver.

Whether Ted is or is not corrupt, I'm quite annoyed (although still addicted). Either Jed is leading us up the garden path and not at all subtly, or Ted is heavily involved in organised crime and is a baddun. The most boring twist of all.

Piggywaspushed · 22/04/2019 10:59

I'd have to watch that again aldi but I thought it was his wife that said that because at the time I thouhgt 'what did she just say? Speak up, love!'

I really don't think Lise is related to John.

The thing about Mercurio is if soemone appears to be a bad un, they usually are. No matter how ambiguously eg Roz). Therefore, I do believe Ted is in very very deep with something bad.
