New documentary due to be released on Netflix on Friday.

I've covered this subject quite extensively while I was studying law. I will be watching with a heavy heart, it is just one of those cases I can't let go of sadly.

Anyone else going to be watching?

Absolutely. I always wondered what the whole story was about. From bungled police investigations to targeting the parents etc can't imagine what's it like to be a parent of a missing child.

ch3rrycola · 14/03/2019 20:19

Yep when does it start?

EmmaGrundyForPM · 14/03/2019 20:20

I suspect this thread will be pulled shortly. MN doesn't allow any discussion of MM

CoffeeRunner · 14/03/2019 20:20

Yes, absolutely.

ch3rrycola · 14/03/2019 20:22

Bit like digital spy then, all MM threads are pulled there too

PointlessUsername · 14/03/2019 20:25

Will be watching for sure.

mentallyfacked · 14/03/2019 21:38

It's a shame when threads get pulled, it doesn't benefit anyone to enforce silence on any topic, doesn't stop people thinking what they will.
Not sure what time its available from but I should imagine it'll be on for the early evening

I'm still waiting for it to be pulled on Netflix.......😒

TheFunkyFox · 15/03/2019 08:33

When’s it released? Can’t find it 😩

BigSandyBalls2015 · 15/03/2019 08:41

Who made the documentary and I wonder how neutral/factual it will be.

Katinkka · 15/03/2019 08:53

It’s up! Going to watch it today.

mentallyfacked · 15/03/2019 09:46

apparently over 40 people interviewed, with new testimonials ect, parents have refused to participate with the reasoning they dont see how it will help Madeline.
Time will tell if it swings one way or another,
While I studied I watched 100s of hours on the subject (from every angle) so it will be interesting to see if they have got anything new or if it's a rehash of things already covered.

Rickytickytembo · 15/03/2019 10:00

OP, just curious, in which law subject did you study this case?

AnneOfCleanTables · 15/03/2019 10:04

Most of the crime documentaries on Netflix seem quite well researched so as you say it will be interesting to see if this has anything to add to the information already in the public domain.

CakeNinja · 15/03/2019 10:34

I’m off work sick today, have just started watching, (in between bouts of vomiting) surprised to see there’s so many episodes on this, can’t help but think it’s just rehashing and nothing new will come out of it.
Torn between persevering and switching off.

NorthernRunner · 15/03/2019 10:41

Despite not appearing on it, have her parents given permission for it to be made or will it be taken off Netflix shortly?

I will watch it, but can’t say it will be easy watching.

Katinkka · 15/03/2019 10:41

Christ. 8 episodes of an hour each! Interesting so far. I remember clearly watching it on the news as I was away at a hotel at the time.

RedRiverShore · 15/03/2019 10:43

I’m watching it now but there are 8 episodes, I did wonder if it might get pulled

mentallyfacked · 15/03/2019 10:43

Rickytickytembo, it was in relation to multi agency investigations, Madeline is the highest profile case that tackles not only multiple law agencies involvement but additionally the issues regarding the difference in laws from country to country. It also has the added element of high media coverage, political involvement ect. I think most people will agree, no matter what their opinion of who did it/who didn't do it that there was serious failings regarding all of the agencies involved.

The MM threads are pulled for good reason.

What subject as part of your legal training required so much study of this case?

saniner · 15/03/2019 10:52

I really can't imagine them covering every angle on this. It'd never get shown.

Mumshappy · 15/03/2019 10:56

As far as im aware it contains a lot of content from the portugese detective who was pulled from the case. He published a book which was banned from the uk containing some very interesting evidence/theories.

caughtinanet · 15/03/2019 11:01

I'm watching it now, nothing I didn't already know, if there are 7 more hours I hope there's something new to make it worth the watch.

Interviews with locals and other holiday makers aren't saying anything new.

mentallyfacked · 15/03/2019 11:01

Girlraisedinthesouth, I've already explained that, along with my interest in the case. I dont see how attacking me for starting a thread regarding the documentary is relevant. Unless you'd like to show me where I've implied any guilt to any other party other than how the investigation was handled?
Because as far as am aware, I haven't

MinisterforCheekyFuckery · 15/03/2019 11:20

Surely it's been done to death now? If there was any new evidence or credible theories then presumably it would be investigated and we'd have been hearing about it on the news. I think it's interesting that the parents are so against it when for many years they were insistent that keeping Madeline's face and story on the TV, the newspapers etc to ensure the public didn't forget about her was essential to finding her.
