When is it back? I'm sure I read somewhere that it would be back in April. Does anyone have any theories about the storyline or characters?

The AC12 triumvirate comprising Hastings, Arnott and Fleming will definitely be back.

What about Roz Huntley? and her rather drippy DH ?

Wil Nige feature? and will we find out how and why Maneet was being blackmailed by Hilton?

I can't wait, frankly.

If H turns out to be the rather lovely Ted..well..life as we know it is over. That's all.

pepperpot99 · 25/03/2019 15:12

SuptHastingsLiketheBattle there are some great one liners in there. I like it when Dot is flirting with Kate and askes her 'do you like Chili - the food, not the country' ? Grin

My favourite of all: "Frankly for you, DCI Cottan, this is a forensic Ground Zero" (Denton to Dot before being shot dead).

TimeIHad when I re-read your post I realised it was definitely LoD, a crucial scene in Season 3. It did happen in the car.

WhoWants2Know · 25/03/2019 19:53

Is it wrong that I miss Dot? I know he's a baddie, but he has a way about him.

Denton scares the bejeesus out of me.

He can't be a bent copper, he just can't. I have a teenage dc called Ted and I keep telling him that he is my third favourite Ted in the world Grin

Piggywaspushed · 25/03/2019 20:26

Who's your second favourite Ted?

reallybadidea · 25/03/2019 20:33

Father Ted of course

CoolCarrie · 25/03/2019 20:59

Keeley Hawes is such a brilliant actress, so versatile, check out Death At A Funeral

Piggywaspushed · 25/03/2019 21:01

Ah, Father Ted of course! I could only think of Big Ted and Little Ted. And Ted Cruz.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 25/03/2019 21:02

Favourite Ted line from recent recapping (sorry I can't remember which series or episode) "I would throw the book at them rapidly followed by the book case". Book pronounced boooK..

I do agree with pp that if Ted turns out to be corrupt then I will be VVVVVVVVVVVCROSS with Jed Mecurio. Hopefully he can do better than that.

reallybadidea · 25/03/2019 21:07

Those are also very good Teds to be fair.

Is anyone else considering going for some really delayed gratification and not watching any of season 5 until the last episode and then having a massive binge session? I can't decide.

Piggywaspushed · 25/03/2019 21:13

Oh no, I need a reason for Sunday nights to exist.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 25/03/2019 21:26

I kind of know what you mean Reallybadidea. Not sure I can live with the suspense of waiting for a week between episodes.

I hope Jackie Laverty comes to light again in this series - it's been too long.

longwayoff · 25/03/2019 21:45

Er, yes, I rewatched series 1 on Sunday and I'm sorry to tell you she wasn't looking too good at all bibbity.

origamiunicorn · 25/03/2019 21:53

I've just finished Series 2. Only recently heard if it and I'm hooked, started Series 3 tomorrow night. Hopefully we can get them done by the time Series 5 comes out.

Also, I too love Ted Blush

ThroughASashWindow · 26/03/2019 06:06

I don't want it to be him..because Ted is THE man all other men have to measure up to Grin ... but...who else can it be..who else high profile ish is left that hasn't been uncovered or brought down?

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 26/03/2019 07:46

Unless Jed Mercurio has really been playing us big time, I really cannot envisage Ted Hastings being the bad guy. Firstly, he's nowhere near as senior as some of the others implicated (Hilton for example). Secondly, he just seems too regular a guy to be the criminal 'inside' mastermind? What's the betting another one/two of the 'H' coppers make an appearance in this series?

ThroughASashWindow · 26/03/2019 08:09

That would sort of be the point though, wouldn't it? Hiding in plain site and all that..the perfect disguise.

ThroughASashWindow · 26/03/2019 08:10

The one man everyone thinks it can't possibly be.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 26/03/2019 08:15

Watched a bit of season 4 last night, love that scene where Nick Huntley's solicitor tells Ted to 'dial down the Ian Paisley'

reallybadidea · 26/03/2019 08:20

Me too @Ihopeyourcakeisshit one of my favourite lines ever.

One of the reasons that I don't think it can be Ted is that it has just been too heavily signposted now. We're supposed to think that it's him, therefore it can't be. Unless it's a double bluff... Confused Please don't destroy my faith in humanity Ted Jed

pepperpot99 · 26/03/2019 08:23

origami I am envious that you haven't yet seen series 3...it's absolutely blindingly good. Enjoy Grin.

There is another little clip on the BBC website this morning, different from the trailer. I am not very good with posting links so maybe someone else could oblige? it certainly casts a shadow on Hastings' hitherto innocent character.....Wink

Just going to have food and then me and DP are settling down to binge a few! Grin

ItsInTheSpoon · 26/03/2019 18:49

Just watched series 1, having watched 2, 3, 4 when they came out - it’s sooo good! Gives much more insight into the characters of Arnott and Fleming. I can’t wait for 5 😁

tribpot · 26/03/2019 20:12

I can't see anything on the programme home page pepperpot99 - the two clips have both been there for a while.

There is a news story today with some clips in it but again not new ones.

I still wonder about season 1, I know it's all fresh in my mind. I don't see how Gates' actions really fitted within the parameters of AC-12, what he was doing (laddering) probably wasn't in accordance with police standards, but not really corruption. However, only by investigating Gates did they latch on to Jacqui and thence to the Caddy etc. Was that more than a coincidence?

Martin Compston did an interview on not long ago and at 1:57 he lets slip "I'm back on my feet in this one [following the whole stairs incident in S4] but everything is not as it seems" - it goes by without him being picked up on it, but something else to look out for.
