When is it back? I'm sure I read somewhere that it would be back in April. Does anyone have any theories about the storyline or characters?

The AC12 triumvirate comprising Hastings, Arnott and Fleming will definitely be back.

What about Roz Huntley? and her rather drippy DH ?

Wil Nige feature? and will we find out how and why Maneet was being blackmailed by Hilton?

I can't wait, frankly.

My first thought was that maybe they weren't proper bullets but surely the gang would have known that? They will have to match the bullets to the first high Jack which was real. Too many questions

greenpop21 · 08/04/2019 08:42

I think Ted looks better this series, with his new hair do!

NoWordForFluffy · 08/04/2019 08:43

But why was teds laptop running the same communication software that Corbett and Lise were using?!

Maybe somebody else has been using the laptop?

And Lise is definitely mixed race. As I said, my friend's hairdresser is the actress' aunt.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/04/2019 08:51

Just banging down a rucksack full of theories here:

  1. Re the computer in ted’s hotel room - is it possible that Mercurio is triple bluffing by making it so obvious so early that we cannot take what is obvious at face value?
  1. Something about Cafferty’s affair confession made me think “deffers a woman”. Lise or Denton?
  1. It crossed my mind that Kate might bite the dust as why else would we see her family life back on track? Unless her husband is H or something, fuck knows.
  1. Hastings as the Penguin from the Wrong Trousers is the funniest thing I’ve read on MN this year so far 😂
greenpop21 · 08/04/2019 08:53

They are obviously building a motive for Ted accepting bribes or involvement in the OCG with the investment gone wrong storyline, but I refuse to accept he might be bent.

Charley50 · 08/04/2019 08:53

Thanks Whatashower. The thought of it was making me chuckle as I watched. 😂😘

BummyKnocker · 08/04/2019 08:54

Why can't Lise just be in it for the money and power like the rest of them? maybe she hasn't got a back story. Women can be very good criminals too.

Rollergirl11 · 08/04/2019 08:56

Remember that Cafferty isn’t being asked to identify H. She was asked if any of the pictures were the person who recruited her. I think it makes perfect sense that she points to Dot and that he recruited her. In Series 3 you see just how central Dot is to everything in the episode with all his different burner phones ringing at once. He was recruited by Tommy Hunter when he was young and Tommy Hunter used to be leader of the OCG that Corbett has infiltrated.

greenpop21 · 08/04/2019 08:58

Yes, I couldn't remember where I''d heard Tommy Hunter before. How do you keep all this info running in your head?

longwayoff · 08/04/2019 09:00

Argh. My brain. Bear with me please people, I have a query. Back when Ryan, the wee bastard, was a kid, a young pc having seen his home circs, gave him his number and said to call him if he felt he needed to. Ryan is now grown up and in the OCG. Is he now an informant? Did he keep up any links? Hmm, quivering with anticipation.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/04/2019 09:01

Starting to really wish I’d watched episode 1 now

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 08/04/2019 09:01

*series 1 fgs

Charley50 · 08/04/2019 09:02

Series 1 was my favourite series.

Rollergirl11 · 08/04/2019 09:11

You definitely see the most of the OCG in Series One. They are a nasty bunch that’s for sure. Remember their signature killing of hoisting the bodies up and chopping off their fingers with bolt cutters!!

Ryan should bloody well remember Steve as he almost chopped one of his fingers off!

Just as an aside the young PC in Series 1 that kind of befriended Ryan looked very similar to the corrupt Vice copper in Series 2 Prasad. I was confused for a while when I first saw him. Good shout that Ryan could be an informer.

thecatsthecats · 08/04/2019 09:11

I don't think it will have been Hasting's photo, and I don't think H directly recruits people. I think he had Hilton and Dot for that sort of thing. I mean, you'd want as few people as possible to know who the actual top dog was, wouldn't you?

HIlton could smoothly give someone the option for promotion or favour without seeming bent, Dot could grease the wheels of transactions and directly bribe people. H is a level above that!

longwayoff · 08/04/2019 09:13

Oh, Mrs Ted, we still haven't met the elusive wealthy property developer, Mr Jackie Laverty. Hoping Mrs Ted hasn't too. I have a very suspicious nature.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 08/04/2019 09:14

i have absolutely NO idea what is going. i can't follow it at all.
but it makes me feel physically anxious and edgy-all across my neck and shoulders goes all prickly and tight.

Italiangreyhound · 08/04/2019 09:15

wowfudge IMHO mixed race is no longer a term used in professional circles so I am surprised the police officer used it. On these dramas few things are incidental so it seemed to carry some weight.

If someone had asked me to describe her I can't imagine using that phrase. It hadn't really occurred to me. I'd have said dark hair, late twenties etc.

foxessocks Dot said in his 'dying declaration' the name begun with H.

Hepzibar I think Kate would be suspicious of Steve. Plus Steve is playing with fire!

I am well suspicious of Sam.

Actually, I am suspicious of everything! Even the fact that the criminal got Steve's surname wrong just like Nick Huntley!

Northumberlandlass interesting theory.

longwayoff · 08/04/2019 09:15

Sexgut, all series still on iplayer. Cancel family commitments and work. It'll be worth it.

thecatsthecats · 08/04/2019 09:17

pinkandstripey

Dot was asked to spell out the name blinking to letters of the alphabet, and blinked on H.

But last night, Corbett mentioned about it being 'a code name or something' - so possibly he discovered it separately, and that's what the OCG called the officer.

It raised the ambiguity - it could be the first letter, it could be a codename! I mean, Dot was literally dying. Maybe he just blinked out what he could - he might not even have known the actual name. I think that Hastings will make this point at some stage, but it will also make Kate and Steve more suspicious.

YodelAreCompletelyShit · 08/04/2019 09:23

When Cafferty was telling Kate and Steve about the nurse, why didn’t she just say it was the same woman who pretended to have the baby locked in the car? It was weird how she described her as if she’d never seen her before the day she arrived in her nurse’s outfit.

peridito · 08/04/2019 09:25

Mother of God can we agree to refer to characters either by their character's name or by the actors name ?

Or I may have a wee nervous breakdown .

And WHO is Gates ????

ElenadeClermont · 08/04/2019 09:28

Gates was the main protagonist in.season 1.

Italiangreyhound · 08/04/2019 09:30

I'm not arguing she's not mixed heritage I'm just surprised a few of the characters mentioned it. It's like a very 'identifying' item and as the writing is quite tight and precise it seems it may mean something more than simply a description.

Italiangreyhound · 08/04/2019 09:32

My local charity shop has series one for a couple of quid. I bet it is on eBay.
