When is it back? I'm sure I read somewhere that it would be back in April. Does anyone have any theories about the storyline or characters?

The AC12 triumvirate comprising Hastings, Arnott and Fleming will definitely be back.

What about Roz Huntley? and her rather drippy DH ?

Wil Nige feature? and will we find out how and why Maneet was being blackmailed by Hilton?

I can't wait, frankly.

Don't want to keep banging on about Masons but they are openly bigoted against Catolics in sectarian areas - think Orangemen and marching season. So it makes no sense that Ted is one. But I do think that's part of the ambiguity, as is his even being a policeman and ex RUC.

LostInShoebiz · 03/04/2019 16:41

But I do think that's part of the ambiguity, as is his even being a policeman and ex RUC.

I think Ted is definitely a policeman...

Piggywaspushed · 03/04/2019 16:49

Yes,indeed he is. It makes no sense to my poor befuddled Glaswegian head!

If I ever met Jed Mercurio, this is what I'd interrogate him on - alhtough I expect Martin Compston has already looked confused...

Amongstthetallgrass · 03/04/2019 17:19

Piggy it might just be an oversight by the writers

Piggywaspushed · 03/04/2019 17:47

I know.... I did say that earlier. But on the whole Mercurio doesn't do oversights!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 03/04/2019 18:26

I think everything is very well considered - nothing is a mistake.

Maybe the fact that Ted is one is suggestive of some potential conflict between his moral code and the brotherhood? We saw him conflicted when it came to interviewing/arresting Fairbank at the end of series 3, didn't we?

CraicMammy · 03/04/2019 19:57

I think the Heroin (ED905) is relevant. It was no longer needed in evidence and the biker gang who claimed ownership were not in prison so either the Police has messed up the prosecution or the alleged perp had been found not guilty. My money is the Police (and I mean Hargreaves) is behind the armed raid so that he could plant the drugs on the bikers and nick them again, this time with all the evidence tied up with a nice pink bow first.

John Corbett realised that the Police are basically running the show and this is why he has gone rogue. He’s a good copper pretending to be bent, rather than a bent copper who pretends to be good.

FoofFighter · 03/04/2019 20:01

So essentially Corbett is UCO to prove a case against the police then...? 🤔🤔🤔 innnnteresting...

CraicMammy · 03/04/2019 20:09

I don’t think that’s why he was planted, it’s just while he’s been UC he’s realised that the Police are more involved in crime that they should be. That’s why he’s now rogue. He’s going to take the system down (if those pesky kids from AC12) don’t get in the way (I’ve not worked out how yet tho). I think Lise is a UCO too (for Hargreaves?) and john’s twigged.

GeorgeTheBleeder · 03/04/2019 20:10

Hang on ... Who was in possession of the heroin at the point when the police raided and arrested the rival gang? The police couldn't have planted it unless they already had it. Or was it different heroin? Or did someone else plant it? Or was it the gang's own heroin that was found?

Annoying to realise I hadn't pinned this down ...

CraicMammy · 03/04/2019 20:39

The Heroin Corbett was selling was that which had been stored in evidence but was no longer required. ED905.
He was returning / selling it to the bikers.

wowfudge · 03/04/2019 20:40

I thought the gang Corbett is with split the heroin with the others then set them up when they took delivery so they have the whole patch to sell it in.

We don't know that this isn't revenge for fitting up Corbett's gang's leader in the first place.

CraicMammy · 03/04/2019 20:56

Can you imagine Ryan’s reaction when he realises he’s been working for a bent copper?!

Italiangreyhound · 03/04/2019 21:29

TheSpottedZebra "Hastings is meant to be Catholic, isn't he? Yet I saw (in an old one) that he is called Edward Gerard Hastings. That is in no way a NI Catholic name: it's 100% protestant. Probably not at all relevant but it bothers me immensely."

Maybe he converted to marry Roisin!

Pomegranatepompom · 03/04/2019 21:31

Just read an interview from JM and he talks about H so I guess ramblings are completely wrong!

Piggywaspushed · 03/04/2019 21:38

So, what happened is JM had his characters : Ted Hastings, Steve Arnott. The he auditioned an Irishman and a Scotsman. He got MC to change his accent to fit the character. But Adrian D was too well known so he changed the character arc to fit the actor. Whilst not changing the name Ted Hastings . I am guessing the Gerard bit was added though.
Apparently, the casting of Dunbar completely changed Mercurio's plans and vision for Hastings.

Italiangreyhound · 03/04/2019 21:43

Anyone who is missing those interrogation scenes may wish to check out Radio 4, I missed most of but what I heard did remind me of AC12!!!

It's a very trivial point that's bothered me...the whole episode I though Steven Graham's character was saying 'Lis' as in a pet version of Lisa but then read it was Lise on here - now I feel an idiot. Confused

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/04/2019 06:58

Again Corbett doesn't get his hands 'dirty' does he - he leaves the killing to others? There may come a point though where Lise is forced to act against him or vice versa.

I cannot believe that Maneet thought that she could fight the lawless on her own and come out on top?

peridito · 04/04/2019 09:18

I'm using this lineofduty.fandom.com/wiki/Line_of_Duty_Wiki as reference .

Though it feels a bit like studying for an exam .I'll be breaking out the revision cards soon and completing spidograms .

nelsonmuntzslingshot · 04/04/2019 10:21

Hastings will be framed, there will be something in his toilet and he will be arrested (because we see him in a cell in the trailer)

I've somehow missed that in the trailer. Must re-watch.

wowfudge · 04/04/2019 11:05

I suspect both Kate and Steve will reach the unspoken conclusion that Hastings is H and someone else will step in as AC12 boss and they'll realise this other person is in fact H because some nugget of info will be revealed incriminating him or her instead.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 04/04/2019 11:12

I wouldn't be surprised if Kate isn't somehow in 'H's' camp. Her promotion seems to have been very swift

AlecTrevelyan006 · 04/04/2019 12:40

There is no way that Kate or Steve are corrupt and if Ted turns out to be H I’m never going to watch telly ever again

NoWordForFluffy · 04/04/2019 13:29

Good spot re the trailer. Here's Ted banged up!
